Bridge to Work is an employability programme targeting the unemployed with a particular focus on youth and women to assist them with critical skills which will enable them to either be employed or start their businesses. The purpose is to aid fence-line community members in accessing meaningful work opportunities that can be converted into small businesses through structured development opportunities.
Sasol has made significant investments in the Bridge to Work programme with clear traction in the Business Digital Services, Handyman, Welding, Motor Mechanics and Community Service (CSP) Programmes, Solar installation etc. In preparation for the beneficiaries’ transition into the next phase of the various programme streams, employability and entrepreneurship symposiums will be convened to impart important information and highlight opportunities for the participants.
The Workshop/Symposium brings together programme participants with subject matter experts, relevant companies and potential startup funders to share knowledge and guide BtW beneficiaries on the best way to exploit available opportunities. Through presentations, workshops and masterclasses, beneficiaries are exposed to some of the latest trends, practices and opportunities that will prepare them for entrepreneurship or employment. The workshop aims to:
• Provide an environment where beneficiaries can gain access to critical information regarding career and entrepreneurship opportunities.
• Create opportunities for partners and potential funders to interact with the Bridge to Work beneficiaries.
