Love to see more traditional bow hunting videos, I often get a little snicker whenever i mention I'm carrying my recurve, but I believe people are beginning to embrace traditional equipment as it gets more exposure. These videos are of good quality and presented in such a way to be educational to those who may come to the conversation with some preconceived ideas of hunting/ bear hunting. This is the sort of content the sport needs to captivate newcomers and to convey what it means to hunt, take an animal's life, and how that relates to conservation as well as the human experience.

Nice video. I was wondering if you could make a video on improving bear habitat because I can't bait were I'm at and only have 10 acres I can't find anything on the subject. Any feedback would be great

Ben Coggeshall that’s a tough question. Bears have extensive home ranges covering 10 to 20 square miles (and even bigger). It would be hard to make enough habitat improvement on small acreage to make much of a difference, unless is was an oat foodplot or some type of crop that drew them in (if legal).

  • @bearhuntingmagazine

Julius De-La Rose thanks for the opportunity to share why we hunt black bear: #1 - delicious/healthy meat - bear meat is long-standing traditional food for hunters.(we also utilize the hide and often the bear’s fat for oil) #2 - Managing populations through hunting. Biologists say there are more Black bear in North America today than pre-European settlement, but we don’t have near the habitat. Taking out 10% of the population annually is good for the bears and controlling nuisance animals #3 - As hunters we enjoy the challenge of hunting. It takes extreme discipline, planning and insight into bear behavior to be successful. You’ve got to be physically fit and devote a portion of your life to the discipline of hunting. Thanks again and glad to answer any more questions.
