I'll just say this. I am a US Army SOF vet. Recon is not on the same level as SAS/SBS not even close. That being said, they are hard dudes that fought well in some of the most dangerous places in Iraq and Afghanistan. Rudy particularly was on some hot deployments. So experience here counts as far as the Rudy vs Ant thing is concerned. As far as the show itself is concerned regardless of what Billy said to Rudy in my opinion the show should ONLY be SAS guys or change the name. It's weird and cringe to keep riding the SAS brand while using random guys from other units. Either call the show Special Forces Selection or something else.

I get what your saying about Recon not being on the same level as SAS/SBS, etc. but still no need to trash talk and anyone in a military uniform deserves respect, especially those that have been in conflict. So Ant is being a dick, imo. I get what you're saying as well ref: the show's title. Even the British guys are mixed SAS/SBS. Yeah a more generic name like yous said Special Forces Selection, or Special Forces Mindset, (do you have it ?), etc. I think they keep it as a marketing thing for British audiences maybe.

@@gooner_duke2756 There was a us version of the show called Special forces on discovery it was presented by Tim kennedy if I remember correctly, see I would have gone with tim over rudy because he's been in top level rangers and I thought he'd be a better tv presenter due to his work with discovery etc. But tim can also be a liability when he runs his mouth like ant.

No disrespect, but there is no doubt in my mind that Rudy could pass SAS selection. There was a man named Larry Allen, who was a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment, who passed SAS selection. No disrespect, but if an American from the 75th can pass SAS selection, there is no doubt in my mind that someone like Rudy could pass SAS selection.

According to who? You don't compare tier 1 units, there is no comparison or complete test to ever pit them off against each other to decide who is the better unit. You might laugh, but the Irish Elite Unit ARW smoked all tier 1 units in the International Sniper Competition in the US not so long ago. That's when you compare the skills of the operators and not the technology at hand to them. My point being, all tier 1 units are tier 1.

You can’t compare tier 1 units there all the best at there own specific job and they are all specific I’ve had the chance to work with a few I am biased to the uk 🇬🇧 as I’m familiar with how they operate but there is no best one unit as there roles are different in many aspects

I know who my money is on in a fight and it’s not Rudy…..

I dunno man the dude is hard as nails, read or watch Generation Kill, the book and tv series both feature Rudy, he is a master at martial arts and an absolute beast of a bloke. He was the best of his unit physically and his unit was one of the best of his entire military, so to give him credit he's a tough fella.

All he did was compliment himself on how brilliant and tough he is and how much of an asshole Ant is, which could all be true, but have a little humbleness about you and don't be calling guys who were of a higher calibre soldier than you were an asshole on TV even if it is true.

The thing is Ant is doing extremely well and won't give a single F*ck what he says. Always a little further....

Good for Rudy getting the job after a long military career, and he knows which of the British operators is the best in these shows - It’s Billy Billingham. Ant spent a few years in the SBS and I think reached Corporal. Billy spent nearly *30 YEARS* in 22 SAS and became its most senior warrant officer (Regimental Sergeant Major ie someone you really don’t mess with) - he wasn’t just an operator, he was in charge of hundreds of operators. There are levels here.

I do like Rudy and enjoy him in the show but it's generally pretty well known that if you have to get riled up and constantly tell people how tough you are you're probably not as tough as you think. Ant didn't slag him off, he only said that Rudy hasn't went through the same selection so doesn't belong on the show. There was only one other tweet Ant made that could maybe be classed as "talking trash" and that was a reply to a tweet where the OP said that the producers even tried to get someone that looks like Ant to which Ant replied "but not as good looking". Rudy is taking it far too seriously and if you watch enough of him in interviews you can tell the guy is a total psycho.

Why is everyone hung up on the SAS bit? Most lads were SBS 😂 but more importantly, the entire show is nothing like selection, its just a catchy name. Rudy is a character and has done a lot of tv work (Generation Kill, Ultimate Survival Alaska and that Iraq documentary). His heart is in the right place and he does tons for veterans in the US.

I am telling you now....forget ant, the real deal is mark billingham ! Longest serving SAS soldier , billy is also a fan of rudy, so id take his word.

I can't find any evidence of Ant saying bad things about Rudy or his unit, but the show is "SAS Who Dares Wins". Clue is in the name. If Rudy's gonna cry about that, he doesn't belong.

All due respect to both parties for what they've done, do and can do but if all Ant said that could be remotely tilted towards chatting shit about Delta and US Marines is "If a US Marine tried to run a Delta Force selection process, he would be laughed at and get a good old fashion kick in", Rudy needs to take a step back. Both of them are the elite of the elite, no need for a cock-off over a TV programme.

I think to be fair, you can’t compare squadrons. If you were honest the British SAS & SBS are the best in the world I think history proves it. Not saying the American elite squadrons aren’t as good but they aren’t. If you look at a lot of SAS troops they aren’t particularly big men, not saying there aren’t some. They certainly don’t look like they have had any help in training. I know who I would want by my side, the Aussies are also very good soldiers.

You personally do not have a clue who is better. History has not said that. Yes I'm American, and I personally think SAS is every bit as good as any of the top tier 1 guys. Seals have quite a few dip shots that get through, as does every other tier 1 team. I personally do not think their is overall any difference in majority of tier 1 guys including SAS, Aussies, Canadians They are all cut from the same cloth. The only thing I think keeps some soldiers from say green Berets from being seals is the water factor. The main difference in all these teams is going to be technology related. Some do not have the funding as others. Meaning they can't get the overall top equipment, or their agency signs for a certain weapon that may turn out to not be great. I have seen many podcast, interviews where Delta, Green Green Berets, Seals and others all say SAS guys are bad mfers. The history of any of tier one guys does not say one or the other is better, it simply says that a long time ago they were the best. Personally if I was in the worst position of my life and needed someone to save me. I'm perfectly fine with it being a great British SAS soldier coming in to do it.

It really does not matter to me who is the best, I personally think it comes down to who has the best intelligence, and the best equipment they were trained on. If it's the Brits, that is fine with me, They are on America's side also. I was not saying what I said to be big headed like America is the best at everything, I guarantee that is not true. Like I said if I'm stuck in Africa and am captured and found out sas or sbs was coming to get me. That would be just fine. How exactly do you determine who is the best? Is it shooting skills, is it hand to hand combat, a foot race, I just am not sure how one could say for sure

It’s a tv show people 😂 , want to know the difference between a good soldier and a special forces soldier ? The difference is ambition some guys are happy being a infantry soldier their whole career or are just in for a few years and go , a special forces soldier is army barmy they love it and want to see how far they can go , but ultimately a soldier is a soldier,and rounds don’t care how good or well trained you are ,if you’re hit and down your no good to anyone.

The selection for both is the same. After special forces selection most Royal Marines go to the SBS and most paras go the SAS, you get to choose.

The original SAS SHOW on BBC was the best version. You had Eddie Stone who was not showy or trying to be famous - he was tough, straight forward and emotionless. They even had Mike Stroud on it and the show was so much better.

A genuine SOF operator in my humble opinion would not consider himself the best in the world, as he knows it's always about getting better, training and learning what you don't know from other brothers. Superheroes are for Hollywood.

He is right. It did get to Middleton's head. Even his wife said so. And a guy's wife knows him better than anyone else.

Just been watching SAS Australia . Its way better than the UK one anyway so Ants made the right choices. The stunts and tasks are way more authentic now and the contestants seem better . Too many kn@b heads in the UK one but that's not to much of a surprise LOL

They should just meet for a beer and chat it out , we know they can both fight ….. but can they do something about even harder …..communicate !

Who those who don’t know, both Ant Middleton and Rudy Reyes where both marines but the uk and us have different types of marines, the Royal Marines follow the same tread as other marines around the world being a small elite commando force that’s apart of the navy and only accounts as 15% of the Royal Navy, the us marines on the other hand are there own branch of the us military, they are under the department of the navy but they are more like the army, their main mission is to be a symmetrical and asymmetrical fighting force, they put a lot more emphasis on low tech methods that have been abandoned by the us army such as bayonet training and certain survival skills, also there boot camp involves a lot of shouting, there goal is to be an adaptable fighting force that is ready for anything, but at the same time they are a combined arms force like the army and have even been given older tanks, IFVs and artillery to fight like the army, all these has made everyone in the marines very proud to be a marine do to what it can do but it’s has also caused some people in the higher ups to call for the us marine corps to be disbanded due to it doing the same job as the army but worse since it’s not its mission, most of the people who dislike the marines view them as cavemen because they are more skeptical or newer technology and put more emphasis on bayonet training, survival skills and other low tech solution’s, opposed to relying more on technology, ant probably dislikes the us marines because they are not true navel infantry, they are there own branch

Ant makes a living from “positivity” but he’s always moaning. I was let down when I read his book to find out he paid £20K to get a chopper from base camp of Everest to get pissed. Then flew back the next day. Seriously selfish. He nearly died up there. Im still looking forward to his K2 docu. He’s lost respect of the guys.
