Sanyo PRO xtraX Multiverse Projector Teardown
Ғылым және технология
This is the final low effort teardown video for the week. Here we have a small fortress manufactured by Sanyo. The PRO xtraX is a dual lamp 3 way LCD projector packed with parts. Let's see what's inside! As per the usual expect rambling and information dealt out to your ear holes with little regard for script, order, or proper tool usage. I am here to harvest optics and most importantly enjoy my time obtaining those parts.
Come enjoy an hour with me as we appreciate equipment that is practically tour rated and meant for the pros!
Thanks to the nice overseas person who contacted me asking if I wanted to review their video projector...
Nah, you and your cheap plastic projector can just flip right off with that nonsense. I'd rather tear apart things with glass optics and quality parts.

AMAZING 👍👍👍 Thanks for Sharing It's wonderfull your passion
The power supplies in those are a lot of fun. Your explanation of the optical path was great

I have yet to play around with the PSUs, certainly built to preform though! The optics are what I specialize in, there is always something satisfying about light manipulation.
So many shinies! thanks MrZ

I am drawn to them like a moth to a flame. I want an optical table one day so I can put them to proper use.
News flash from the future: In the year 2749 engineers say they are "a little closer" to creating autofocus that isn't absolute crap.
35:30 I think those are also acting as cold-mirrors to bleed off some heat before the beams are merged. You can cut those down and use them for some Christies.

You nailed it, but they are acting as hot mirrors as they reflect IR,NIR, and a tad of UV while allowing visible to pass through. I use projector optics all the time, mostly the dichroic glass and mirrors. I see you do quite a bit with projectors. I have a few PSUs, lens assemblies, and mainboards from projectors, if your ever up for a trade I am always looking for dichroics and other planar optics.

@@Zenodilodon sweet! I have a pile of stuff. I even have that Sanyo (as an riki). Glad I found your channel! We have a lot in common

@@FixitFrank Sure seems like we do! I love electro-optics/physics. Video projectors are one of the coolest things we invented, though I wish there where more types. One of the most astonishing methods of light manipulation for projection I have seen is this. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gp5_3KWLm8adddo.html
Hi. Mine has no projection at all. When i try to look at the lense, a small light is blinking. The power indicator turns to red several seconds after i turn it on. What is the problem of this projector?

Could be a dead lamp. They are complicated units and age does tend to have it's way with things too. If it's not the lamps then see if you can find the service manual for your model, that could help a lot.
pls what makes this type of projector works but displaying very blur vision

I received your email, I will communicate more in detail through that as it allows an exchange of pictures for diagnostics.
Is this older high end unit still superior to new projectors?...if so...what type would it keep up with?

Projectors have gone up in capabilities, the quality of build is more a recent problem with cheap budget projectors. The actual performance of an older projector in terms of brightness and resolution for a given size aren't typically as good. Great for touring and doing video projection mapping though.

These older Sanyo projectors are straight up beasts. The one I had boasted 5000 ANSI Lumens. The picture was very clear in very well lit rooms. Most projectors on amazon currently can only be used in very dark rooms. These units MSRP'd for 10 grand in the day.

yes and no. Image quality and resolution will be far behind but if you want bright and big and you dont care about 1080 or 4K they still have a place.

@@FixitFrank these Sanyo projectors are capable of playing video in 1080p format. The actual resolution however is usually 1024x768.
