Computer HiFi
Ойын-сауық
In this video I once again "virtually preserve" a forgotten old product. In this case even when it came out it was probably very unknown. This is the Schneider Boston from 1993. The first HiFi system with a GUI (Graphical User Interface). I honor their efforts...

I genuinely feel guilty to watch this level of photography and camera work for free, insane job as usual 👏🏻👏🏻
Schneider: I've heard of them, and I'm from the UK. Way back in the 1980s we had an Amstrad computer. Amstrad was a brand that pivoted from affordable hifi to computers. I'd heard that Amstrad computers were distributed in German by Schneider under the Schneider brand. So it makes _total_ sense that Schneider would be an affordable hifi company.

Yeah, especially the CPCs were rebranded to Schneider, I have a CRT Monitor labeled as Schneider (although it's only VGA so I guess from mid- to late 90s, while the CPCs were in the 80s). Interestingly Techmoan had an Amstrad-branded Hi-Fi system, he already had a similar in this youth and looking back at it, it wasn't so good, rather cheapo.

@@joinedupjonFor the same reason you can't find quality new manufacture machines for so many other audio formats: Compact cassette is obsolete. Even CDs are obsolete at this point. Most people are happy with streaming music from their phones, TVs, etc. Most enthusiasts are happy with buying lossless audio downloads. Compact cassette would need to become popular again the way vinyl has to support an industry producing new, high quality cassette decks. Compounding the issue, most compact cassette enthusiasts probably already have good cassette decks. New manufacture would have to compete with the used market.

Your channel is my favourite one! I can't really describe how much I love your content! It's so original and beautiful to watch. The music, the visuals, your voice, all is pure art to me. Thanks for your work!
I love this channel. It's mostly random irrelevant facts about obscure technology, but presented in so ridiculously high quality that it captivates me every time. The high resolution footage, the crisp narration, the quirky music - it all fits together so well. I keep thinking back to a stereo system that I used to have, Panasonic SA-AK45 (took me a while to find the exact model). It had so many lights and buttons and an auto-changing CD tray... though I mostly used it as aux amplifier and never touched most of its functions. And the design of the whole thing just screamed "Y2K". These videos give off a similar vibe, showcasing how cool these systems were in their time.
Wake up, Posy uploaded.
Posy vids are so cozy and crispy. I heard the phrase "Interested people are interesting," and damn if I can't find a better example. You invite the audience in to learn some obscure thing with which you became fascinated and make the whole experience feel shared. As always, beautiful visuals, sound, and touch of your humor! Cheers.
every video you upload isn't just videos, it's an art project
You are so good at making advertisement, now I want to buy it
3:24 That 'Tsk.' was just perfect. It's the exact same reaction I have when I receive a disappointing used product.
Every video on this channel is a delight.
Hey man, you're YouTubin on another level that most tubers can't even dream of Tubin up. You understand. You get it.
this channel is just too relatable. i would scour flyers and catalogues in the 90s for mini systems like this. not boomboxes, just mini systems. if it had a handle; i wasn't interested... unless it had a drawer loading cd player and full logic cassette decks with a remote. then maybe.
Oh god each of these videos feels like they’re ethereal level marketing for the future-past. Your work continues to completely and utterly break the mold. You take what makes Ahoy and LGR so amazing, and somehow blend it all with such tremendous photography and lighting. I never really changed, either. But its amazing to watch our work grow as we do. Your aesthetic is a beacon. Your channel is an example. Thank you as always for your inspiration, senpai. 🙏

those amber-lit VU meters are utterly gorgeous
Oh dang, the transition at 2:51 is SO SATISFYING You nailed it, Posy!

Dude, the way you tell the story, the way you construct the situations. I wish I was able to do what you do. Great video.
I personally think it is beautiful.
Lazy Posy makes me forget how much work you put into your non-lazy videos. Amazing, beautiful and informative with a touch of nostalgia. I especially appreciate the transition from the catalog to your setup at 2:50
I imagine Posy as that kid from the European 90s commercials, who lived that perfect life, and is now here for us to tell the tale.
The quality of your videos just amazes me. I feel guilty for being able to watch it for free
The fact you flipped trough the manual can be of value for a couple of people
Dude. Your cinematography, and my god. Your audio levels are literally perfect. I absolutely love every video you put out. Your attention to detail. Your I swear, you are the only KZread channel I watch with my surround sound on. I love your work.
Fascinating stuff! It's always interesting to see these early attempts at new technology. Schneider definitely deserves credit for being ahead of the curve in 1993.
Every single video is a masterpiece of production quality, so glad i found the channel!!
Dude your vids are just so oozing with aesthetic, even that shot in daylight of the hifi next to the plant is such a pretty composition.
you are good at audio mixing. Like that segment where you illustrate things getting louder, but you don't go above the maximum, which is always the voice over volume. There are so many people, who are even working on a professional level who mess things like this up
5:10 I remember that sentence, we all knew that you wouldn't resist that much 😅, btw I'm glad cause now we have more content 🤘
The most interesting thing about retro hi-fi collectors is their endless capacity to store more hi-fi equipment.
Also do you read my brain? Not 3 days ago I was watching something and just randomly thought, hey I haven't seen a posy video in a while. Now you are here.

Man, I really like this type of content. Yesterday I woul've passed next to one of these without a second glance, but now I have a renewed appreciation for vintage hi-fi. Now excuse me - I'm off to search for Panasonic SA-AK45 - my childhood audio system.
I want to live in Posy's world of HiFi and lo-fi music and retro tech. What a video. All of them.
You really do have a killer ear for mixing. Not only in your music but also for your videos.
What a great video and flashback! I've owned the tower that is shown on the right side on the brochure at 2:38. The Schneider Queens. It was a present from my older brother, as he bought himself a new stereo from Technics back then. For me as a 13 year old, only having a cassette radio, this was soo huuge. So now i had a CD Player (which shortly soon stopped working) and a Vinyl Player (which was super cheap built), and a double cassette deck + Radio integrated. (this worked the longest time). I recorded lots of stuff from the Radio with this thing back then. Luckily you could use it with a separate CD Player, hooked to the Aux Input. And the sound quality itself was decent, at least what i remember. Although the subwoofer also broke eventually. Still, i used this unit until the end of the 90's, before i got rid of it. Looking back at it now, and the other stereo products Schneider did and that are shown here, it feels like they now are a rare collectors item now, catching an late 80's to early 90's vibe with it's special and elegant design.
Yet another wonderful Posy video. Shame about the overflowing stereo storage, but I know how that is with hobbies, hah. That volume display is weird, wonder why they decided to go with that scale. RIP Red Casette.
A Schneider CPC 6128 was my first real computer that I used for many years. I really like Schneider for their design language as they have always tried new things, also as you can see here with their Audio products.
i remember this. we had a cheaper Schneider and i hesitated to buy this. i went for onkyo which lasted around 25yrs. i still search for a special marantz audio processor or such a kind of unit with display and did not found it, even not a simple picture. i remember a test in a german hifi paper which i lost in water floods years ago.... i love these old things, fisher system 276, old kenwood receivers.
I remember "i won't collect any more gear than fits in here".... i was, at least, sceptical then. :)
WOW! So glad I didnt see the thumbnail. When Posy opened the display, i was litteraly like WTF?! 😲 Great video! Thanks for making them look good 😎
Your pronounciation is perfect
Cinema quality filming!
A true work of art! (The video, not the rack).
The camerawork and production and sound and music is top notch. Amazing. And love your narration voice. Reminds me a lot of the How It's Made tv series that was on Discovery for a while.
No matter what equipment you show, you always manage to somehow hack it to display your name. Good stuff
I love Posy. In between his main videos which are of exceptional quality, he keeps us entertained with his Lazy Posy channel. That's nice right?!
Tremendous production value, Posy. RIP Red Casette.
The power button shot at the end was amazing

What a beautiful transition @2:53. This channel is an work of art
Those animations on the display are really gorgeous. Someone did a great job there.
You are really selling me on getting some sort of HiFi system as decoration with the shot at 2:09 3:45 and 6:37. Looks very pleasant and the visualizers moving to a tune add a really nice touch to it, interactive decorations are underrated in my view honestly.
this is literally one thing that belongs in a museum...

"I failed" lmao love you posy !
once again i have to pause a Posy video 2 minutes in to go to his bandcamp. Outstanding music in this one!
I promise I won't ever complain that the Lazy Posy channel's content is not lazy enough. The production quality of some of these shots is off the roof and you can see how much effort was put into some of these angles
You spend an unbelievable amount of time on these videos to make them look beautiful. Impressive.
I just stumbled on this vid. Your production is second to none.
Saved this in my Watch Later for a rainy, cozy moment on my couch with a cup of coffee. Can't wait.
Man, your production is so good. A real pleasure to watch your videos.
Awesome as always. Peggio is so freaking cool I can't get it out of my head. :p
Woah that transition from photo to real life was perfect. Ur the best man
The fade from flagship promo photo to your own unit was perfection. The fonts on this device seen to be taken from Windows 3.x but the kerning here is dreadful. But it's cool to see this unit working.
I used to have a Schneider TV set back in the early 80's, it was a very good product.
It does look pretty cool with the display panel up and the volume leds dancing around! I never knew I had a dormant fetish for obeliskoid slabs of retro audio gear until I found your channel 😂
Amazingly beautiful as always.
Your choice of music really animates the presentation.
I love how the volume goes up all the way to 200!
The production quality is soo so high. I'm stunned. Well done video with an interesting topic!
5:18 just want to say those musical transitions are insanely good
Absolutelly beautiful, the GUI reminds my old Pioneer VSX-D2S.
I love how much I enjoy your content. It's a long time ago I was a "fan" of someone.
Another amazing video!! Loving the use of the backdrop in this! Very glad it didn't get crushed by it though...
Selling Possy a sound system with a broken display should be a crime against humanity. Thanks, Google, for that single result!
