    Great review. I bought a 2021 Hightower carbon C S build and find it to be the closest I have come to owning a "quiver killer". I live on the west coast of BC, Canada. My local trails consist of long climbs with steep, rooty and rocky trails, freeride trails, more traditional DH trails as well a bike park (Coast Gravity Park). A bit of everything. It shreds it all. I have made a few changes to the bike but will be making more significant changes in the coming months. I will be getting the cascade components linkage and adding 10mm of travel up front. This will bring the bike from a 150mm and 140mm to 160mm and 150mm. I think this will truly make it the quiver killer. I love the responsiveness of the bike, the speed you can carry and how poppy it feels. Unheard of for a 29er a few years ago. My previous bike was a 2017 Transition Patrol and this bike makes the Patrol feel super dated. Thanks again for the video you are +1 subscriber.

    @@mtb_alan I love it. Other than adding travel the cascade components linkage really improves the shock performance. I know a few riders who have it and are stoked on what it does to the bike. The only other changes I have made are to swap out the brake levers from the Code R's to SRAM Guide Ultimate levers and changed to Renthal carbon bars. That Nomad looks unreal. Stoked to see more of your rides on it.

Up hill climbing efficiency isn’t such a priority for me-I also have a Heckler for this 😉. The Bronson’s cockpit and head tub angle isn’t working for me. I’m definitely stoked to get the new Nomad! Hey there. I would say it depends on how you ride now, how you want to progress your riding, and what trails you're riding. I'm 5'5" and between Small and Medium. I am willing to sacrifice some playfulness at medium speeds for the performance at bikepark speeds since I spend about half the year riding bikepark. There are of course other factors you could consider. Ideally, you would demo/rent each size and see what you like. Hope that helps.

    Hey such a rad bike, congrats! I am trying to figure out if i need a bronson or a nomad. Just starting out but would also go to bikeparks. Like having enough reserve, but it should also be versatile to play and do manuals with it. So start with a lighter version like the Bronson in XL (i‘m 6.1) or directly get the big bike in Large?

  • @mtb_alan

    @mtb_alan

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey! Thanks for the question. It really depends on what and how you ride most of the time. TBH, the Bronson did everything I wanted to do really well, and I might have been fine to stick with it. It's a do-anything bike that does most things really well. I wanted to grow my riding some and start hitting bigger things and also wanted something that would handle bigger hits and chunk like I find at the DH tracks at my local bike park. The Bronson can do this, but the Nomad is better suited for it...but I'm paying for it on the climbs. Don't get me wrong, for a 170/170 brawler, the Nomad climbs just fine, but I'm not gonna be towards the front on the climb like I was on the Bronson. Ideally though, you can get a demo on both bikes. Hope that helps.

    Hi, nice video and rad bike! I am actually thinking of getting the N5 (coming forma N4), but also considering Bronson or 5010 since I use a DH bike for the park days. One question: how does the N5 feel in the easy/non steep/flowy parts of the trails compared to the Bronson? Is it still fun or u think there is no comparison with a Bronson?

  • @mtb_alan

    @mtb_alan

    3 жыл бұрын

    This is a great question. I plan to do a Q&A about the Nomad and will probably talk some about the Bronson. If you don't mind, I can give you a full answer there. Short answer, the Nomad has a 2-inch longer wheelbase, so if you're willing to be more aggressive in flow sections, it can be fun. Easy, less steep stuff...it's gonna be a bit more work than the Bronson to keep it fun. Hope that helps!

  • @mtb_alan

    First off, congrats on the new rad bike! Fair warning: I run my tires pretty hard but I ride fast over rocks with square edges, and I can also ride like a goon and just smash stuff. I have been running 26/28. But recently have tried more like 24/26. The lower pressures are more for when I'm riding more loamy stuff. But with the steep and rocky stuff like on our coastal trails, I tend to keep it at that 26/28 setup. Lift-access park season is just around the corner, and at bikepark speeds, I sometimes go even harder...like 28/30 or even 30/32 depending on how often I hear my rims talking to me. LOL! Hope that helps.
