At least the Dad told him no! I take my kids to our local zoo, and like 1 in every million parents tells their kids not to climb on crap, touch the glass, pound on the glass, scream, etc. It makes me furious because it sets a bad example for my kids too, my 5 year old always looks at me all "why are they allowed to do that and I'm not?" and frankly he's too young to understand that it's because I'm trying to raise him not to suck.

That was really grinding my gears as well. I know "kids don't know any better" until told, which is why I let it pass, when the father at least told his son to stop banging the glass. I have many fond memories of visiting the zoo as a kid with my parents, so I'd want any other kid to have the same experience, but it's important, that the parents teach them not to stress the animals.

@Snake Plisken . . . We can now get better, safer, more interesting (for humans) and healthier (for animals) footage of just about any animal in existence. I, too, would like to see zoos be recognized as the abominations they are. Unfortunately, for many endangered species, zoos are the last repository of threatened DNA. No profit in it? Poof! The species is allowed to go into permanent oblivion. There are no easy answers to this one.

Caracals make the cutest sound (trilling) when they're happy, but they will put up a hissy fit when angry. Honestly, I don't know why most zoos don't put up warning signs for people, especially kids, to not pound the glass. It's disturbing to the cat and adds stress.

Not as chill as the caracals at the Toronto zoo were. Granted, they could be pretty energetic and would run around their exhibit from time to time, but they would never hiss at someone, then again I never saw any zoo patrons annoy them.

There's some KZread channels that feature these cats as pets and they're so, so sweet!!!! Rubbing all over their owners, wonderful with other domestic cats, etc. Still, I wouldn't suggest wild cats as pets. I'm just amazed by the contrast. Lol and yes, teaching kids respect is important.

When I was there age and my Dad would always gently explain now so pretty and cuddly the big cats were they were very dangerous. I crew up with a healthy respect and deep love for then. Its why I have three miniature killer living and sleeping with me.

This reminds me of a similar incident I saw in the Ape & cat house in Cleveland Zoo. Signs every where not to bring food of any kind inside. There was this little boy eating a bag of popcorn in front of the glass where a Macaque sat and watched the boy. It didn't take long for the Macaque to decide he wanted whatever the small human had and rushed the glass with a loud thud and display of aggression.

Not to mention they jump over 11ft in the air to catch birds. Truly remarkable creatures
