Samsung The Frame 2021 TV Review - The look before the performance

Ғылым және технология

Samsung's The Frame 2021 is a good QLED TV and the successor to The Frame 2020. Like its predecessor, it showcases artwork or photos when the TV isn't in use, and the bezels can be customized so that they blend with your existing decor. It uses a VA panel with an outstanding contrast ratio, making it great for dark room viewing, but its viewing angles are sub-par, so it's not the best choice for wide seating areas. Unfortunately, it lacks local dimming, and its HDR brightness isn't enough to make highlights stand out the way they should.

    Edit 2: This is news particularly for people with nvidia 3000 series cards (that is what i have), As of the firmware update 1904 for the samsung 2021 frame tv and the Nvidia driver 511.65 the tv is perfectly able to output 4k120hz with hdr and vrr turned on (it started working perfectly after i completely after the updates and switch it back on again) . The rest of the people looking to buy the tv for gaming/monitor purposes i would suggest looking elsewhere due to the ridiculous amounts of ads this tv has and all the issues it has had for almost a year after its release. Edit: Just letting everyone know update 1805 for the tv has broken 4k120hz support and it seems Samsung refuses to acknowledge it or revert the update, if you are looking for a gaming tv for your XSX or the PS5 i would suggest looking elsewhere. PreEdit Comment: I bought the 65 inch version, as this is the cheapest 65 inch 4k 120hz TV i could find in my country and also works well as my computer monitor and looks fancy with the bezel.

Other than 120hz refresh/VRR and narrower viewer angles that you mentioned are different for the 43" and 50", are other factors you mention like brightness, color, refresh rate, and response time the same across all sizes including 43" and 50"? @jzo that would make rtings rating go all wrong. Say while evaluating scores for hdr movies, rtings gives significant percentage points to local diming. That is why x900h has a better hdr score than frame.

    Great vid. Quick question, can you tell me why in 2018 the Q7FN was able to have incredible brightness but yet in all subsequent years all the models are nowhere near that of the Q7FN? You'd think whatever they did to the Q7FN would carry on to future models.

  • @joser9237

    @joser9237

    2 жыл бұрын

    From what I've noticed, brightness had to be sacrificed in order to raise the contrast ratio, as much darker backlight was needed. That and the Q7FN used edge backlights that were able to output far more light than weaker but more accurate full array backlights.

    I’ve worked in two stores that have the 50” and 75” models on display. At each store, the 50” looks perfect, just like the q70a, but the 75” has a massive splotch in the middle of the screen where it loses most of its vibrancy and contrast. Not sure how this affects the other sizes or if it’s a defect that only affected the first batch of the TVs at the beginning of the model year.

    I got the 75in on Amazon which came with free mount installation service. I mean you can screw the mounts yourself. It is pretty easy, but would still most likely need two people to lift TV to mount it. I would buy a bundle with a bezel frame included if you plan on using one of Samsung's frames as they are $160-250 extra, but if you know someone who can create a custom frame, that would be the way to go. If you are debating between 65 in vs 75in...get some painters tape and see how it will look on the wall. I am glad I chose the 75. After a week, it seems too small already...lol

    I bought Samsung 55 RU 7470, two years back. We are completely satisfied. The picture quality is awesome. But when go for the second TV, 65 Inches TV this month's, Samsung was not at all in my short list. Its purely bcoz it does not have play store. Samsung never care to add regional apps. We like MX player TV app, in which Our family enjoy watching Tamil dubbed korean and Turkish series. I wrote many times to samsung for adding this app. But it went waste. May be this is small issue to Samsung, But as an end my priority is different. So bought Sony 65 90J. I think every region having the same issues with samsung. If Samsung not going for Android, samsung will face the same fate of Nokia mobiles.
