I just purchased this tablet to use for school, both as an instructor and student. I'm loving it! It's small enough to comfortably take notes. I use Google Keep, even for handwritten notes during lectures, and transfer them to a Google docs copy in Google Drive. I store most everything on an SD card and having no memory issues. The SPen works great and very happy with this investment.

you can just place your finger on the home button and click. pressing the home button wakes it up just like the side power button. there is a 1/4 second delay from the time you click the home button to where it scans your finger tho. its quick enough to me that it seems seamless. but placing your finger on the home button without clicking it will not scan it.

Some devices dont require you to even press the button ie. iPhones, Lg's maybe there are others in unaware of however this really isn't a big deal its like less then 1 second of your life and does technically drain a very slight amount of battery keeping the reader active... Overall its pretty much a wash and i wouldn't even consider that a feature in itself.

I am having a very difficult time determining whether this model will work with T-Mobile on 4G/LTE. From my research, there are two cellular/4G/LTE models available, the international version, SM-T395, and the United States version, SM-T397. I really don't care which version I get, so long as Bands 2 and 4 on T-Mobile will work at full 4G/LTE speeds. 1) Which model did you purchase, the SM-T395 or the SM-T397? 2) Do you have insight as to which bands your device has? 3) Which wireless carrier do you use your device on? Thank you for the video review and I hope you or someone else coming across this video can help!

Both the SM-T395 (international variant) and SM-T397 (domestic/United States variant) are comparably priced; it all comes down to whether they will play nice with T-Mobile or one of their MVNOs. For some strange reason Samsung is marketing the Tab Active series as 'Enterprise Devices'. Therefore you won't see them in a general electronics shop. But the main benefit of this enterprise focus is that Samsung guarantees 4 years of software updates. So the Tab Active Pro (the 10" version, launched in 2019) will get Android 11 this year. It's really meant for rugged use like construction work etc. That's why there's physical buttons and a big pen for use with gloves. The touch screen is even supposed to work with gloves on. I want to buy one (Tab Active 3 these days) for use on my motorcycle. It seems ideal since you can use the navigation app of your own choice. Google maps is great for highway and main roads. For offroad navigation Locus Maps is great, and that one does offline navigation too. I told Samsung, through their community forum, that people like this tablet for use while hiking, offroad motorcyle/car adventures and for clumsy relatives. So maybe they'll turn around some time and sell them through retail channels.

How does the 10" model compare to the 8" Active 2 with regards to speed? Would the 10" be good for navigation too? Asking because there are certain offers for brandnew 10" models for about the same price as the Active 3. I'm not certain what model to choose. The 10" is a bit older and I think the Active 3 is more modern hardware and better in the end.

  • @integraloutdoors

@@PhilippensTube the 10" seems faster but I don't use it for high demand stuff. Mostly used for reading plans and documents, taking daily notes on onenote. I haven't looked into the new 3 model. Personally I would go with whatever size you think is better. I like my 8" because I use it on a tablet mount in my truck, the 10" seems too big for that. The 10" is better for reading plans because our plans on paper at 11x17 sheets so the 8" is much to small for that.
