I might have done my most stupid purchase ever... I've bought the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge that runs Windows 11 on ARM.

With a little bit of luck, a package will arrive at June 24th.

On the other hand, ARM processors are a lot faster than Intel processors because they are designed to work on simple tasks that don't require the same clock speeds as their Intel counterparts.

I guess you will be very happy with it, as long as you don't expect work station performance.

I'm looking fprward to your review! I've been using the Book3 Pro for roughly a year now and it's working flawlessly for me so for me there's no need to upgrade just yet, but I'm curious as to how the new AI features hold up, I had read that Samsung announced some Galaxy AI laptop features (like circle to search and live translate) exclusively for the Book4 Edge. Greetings from Germany!

I will replace my "old" Galaxy Book Pro (ver 1) with this one. I also have a Galaxy Book3 Pro (16 inch) but that one is my "work horse" with photo and video editing. But I am just a "bit" curious of how well (or bad) the x86 emulator (or whatever it's called) Prism is... I hope it's a good one 🙂

If they were shipping it with 32gb of RAM, I would have bought it immediately.

These things are always hobbled in some way. This machine has been shown to use 8gb ram when doing nothing. So you've got an 8gb laptop to last you into the late 2020s. How crap.

Hi Mattias! Have you tried it for gaming? Do you think 16GB is enough? I use music production softwares (DAWs, virtual instruments, etc.): would this be a good laptop for this? Thanks!

Hi! No gaming so far on this laptop (it's really not ment for gaming) but I might install something just to try it out 🙂 16GB... It depends I guess off what you are going to do. For me it's enough - and I do some video editing on this laptop. But as someone mentioned on KZread, if you are going to run a lot of AI stuff, then it might not be enough with 16GB. AI takes up a lot of RAM... I've only used Audacity and it works. I also have a EVO4 but I haven't connected that one yet to this new laptop. So I don't know if the drivers work or not...

Hi, thanks for offering to test some apps.If you have a chance to review Fusion 360, Cura and Arduino IDE, and report how they work, that would be very much appreciated 😊

Fusion 360 is a bit to expensive so I have not tested that one... Cura and Arduino works though... I don't know what to do but this is how it looks like when they are up and running. kzread.info/dash/bejne/p56KlKSDhse7mMY.html

@@mattiasanderssonSWE Fusion 360 is free of charge for non commercial use. Making a video of it running on a computer, rather than build objects, i guess, is not a commercial use of it. For 3D printing, you need both Fusion 360 to design objects and Cura to "slice" them before you send the object to the 3D printer to print it.

Hey Mattias, if you don't end up liking it I'll be very happy to take it off your hands granted that you ship it to México! Jokes aside, I truly hope that arm processors can prove themselves as worth competitors to traditional ones since this would push the industry forward. Furthermore, since it's already been some time since they were introduced, I believe that both manufacturers and prograam developers have had enough chance to work out any, or at least most, issues that could come with the different architecture. Looking forward to your review, and if you don't like it in the end, at least you'll have a really pretty paperweight, cheers!

I think the only problem here can be that since there are now 2 different CPU architectures for running WIndows, and one of them has roughly around 99,99% of the market, it might be difficult to get the app makers to develop for the 0,001%🙂 But we will see if things are good enough or not. Or if I end up with the best paperweight of all time 😀 Salud 🥂
