This may sound corny buy Sammy davis jr was a gift sent from the up above to this planet to brighten up people’s lives. I only wish i was born in his era so i could of gone to see him perform and enjoy his insane talents....Sammy sang the national anthem at the beginning of a baseball game sometime in during the 1970’s, i was dumbfounded hearing him sing, i was moved to tears and i’m not american and i’m not a baseball fan... That was the true genius Sammy davis jr was. Rip Sammy.
I saw him late in his life with Sinatra. He performed this dazzling break dance, after which, Sinatra revealed to the audience that Davis had undergone hip replacement surgery just five months earlier! A most remarkable entertainer who literally gave his all to the audience. He may not have been as funny as Dean Martin, he may not have been quite the vocalist as Sinatra, but hell, overall, he was the most gifted and talented of the "Rat Pack" and anywhere else. He could do it all--brilliantly. ❤

Agreed, I liked Cavett's show. He was so quick and smart...a "thinking man's comic." He actually was a writer for Johnny Carson at one point, then went head-to-head with him with this show. They were both from Nebraska, both comics and magicians.

What I wouldn't give to see one of his performances live.
No interruptions, no vulgarity, no grand-standing, no hogging up the stage, a class A act all the way, and that's just for starters. DC is like no other talk-show host out there. And, Sammy Davis, wow, what talent. Tragic story, though. I read his autobiography "Yes, I Can" back when it was first published, left a lasting impression. A black man who suffered so much yet gave so much back. They don't make folks like Sammy anymore. RIP, I still miss the man, good to see him again on this site.

The Cavett interviews are a treasure, because Dick would book who he was interested in (for example, a 30 minute interview with veteran performers like John Carradine). We're given some wonderful oral histories thanks to Mr. Cavett and they are treasures.

I have not seen this since I saw on TV back in 1971. I thought I remembered him doing an impression of John Barrymore, which was sensational. He also imitated some cowboy 'walks' which is not in this clip, so maybe the clip is not complete. Great to see this again. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing! & I find it funny that even 24 people it looked like hit the 'thumbs down button'...Which is nothing, there are ALWAYS gonna' be people who love to hate everything; From maybe this show, your channel or whose on it?! Some, just knock things down for whatever reason, zero reason, just to even spread hate into the world or perhaps they are jealous or afrid of your channel! I mean bcuz why would you do that on someone's channel?! I get that not everyone likes everything & everybody;....but it's like then don't watch...I usually like everything I watch, whether it's cut great or not...Hey your most likely watching free through your internet & if you see something you don't like don't watch & I figure if someone has taken' the time upload it, especially older stuff like this...Which people relly put time into uploading from probably from a much older medium to the internet so you can enjoy or not! Ya know, if I watch & I'm choosing to watch something, I will just like, bcuz they took the time to do so...If your going to hate or you don't like someones channel & or the person on the show, Don't watch!

I saw Sammy perform live at a "theater in the round" in the early 1980's when I was 10. To this day he is hands down the best live performer I've ever seen. His command of the stage was astounding, made even more so by the fact that he had to play to an audience all around him, 360º. Not one audience member left that show feeling anything less than 110% entertained. His talents were mind blowing. Singing, dancing, jokes, voices, bantering with the audience. All with such ease. He was born to do what he did, and he did it at the highest level possible.

Anyone who has studied Anthropology since the beginning knows that there are three main races of man, Caucasoid, Negroid, and Mongoloid. These are not opinions, theories or ideas. They are actual physical and anatomical differences in the races which make them scientifically proven. I can tell which race as skull is from 20 feet away and the bones are just the first of hundreds of real differences in the races. It's not PC to talk about, and they rely on most people NOT knowing it,in order to further their PC Agenda of the U.S. needing "Diversity". It's a tool to destroy and entire race and can prove it with one question....What if we went to say, China and told them that they need "Diversity" and that they should open their borders.? The white race is now seen as a threat to other races so we are systematically being destroyed so as not to hurt others anymore. I again can prove this very simply. Look at a High School yearbook from the 1950's . Kids were "Young Adults" who took pride in the way that they looked and had an overall pride in America and their family. they had respect and were actually expected to become upstanding citizens and lead good lives. In the 1960's , Liberal Jews actually changed the way that people think with several schools of thought that took hold and never let go. The Hippie Movement and Feminism got in and destroyed us as a people. Kids were told buzzwords which changed their minds and who they were. They were told to relax and not be so "Uptight".Grow your hair long, rebel against anything and everything. Just walk outside and look at the way that ALL grown men are dressing and their average levels of intelligence and social skills and you'll see that what I'm saying is 100% true.
