Marlon Brando - Interview (June 12, 1973)
Фильм және анимация
In 1973, one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors Marlon Brando sat with talk show host Dick Cavett to discuss his new found insight on America’s relationship with the Indian, and how that relationship is falsely promoted in schools and in Hollywood films.

At the end of the day, in modern talkshow interviews, you don't actually get to know what the interviewee is about. And I think that's their purpose - you go on the show, talk crap for a while, then leave, and no-one is any the wiser as to who you are or what you're about. It's like a ruse, a trick. There's no-one in there worth seeing, so that's exactly what they show you - no-one.

Marlon Brando is very brilliant actor who’s very caring about the books that lies as history books about Indianas. But he’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He felt that America 🇺🇸 belonged to Indians land before the pilgrims took their lands. He felt that Indianas blacks not being respected or unequal. That’s during in 1973. The actor has been involved with Civil Rights
I love the pauses he does while talking, is so calming. People vomit their words today, seeking attention, and he has all eyes on him, and knows it, so he takes all time in the world to speak. Genius.

In his acting school the teacher said to the class "students I want you to be chickens on a quiet Sunday afternoon in any town America. I also want you to know that nuclear war has just been declared and the bombs are launched and incoming." The entire class ran around clucking loudly and flapping their arms up and down mimicking scared chickens. Marlon sat very still and quiet in his chair pretending to lay an egg. As an African and I rarely comment in KZread (maybe 3 times since 2004) , I feel obliged to do it again. Marlon Brando is a true man (in my definition), he is not afraid to be himself, speaks about the things that are important to him and swims against the current without fearing the consequences. We here call such men lions in Africa. Impressive is also his education and psychological knowledge, simply said if you want to be a man Marlon Brando is a role model for all young people even today.

The greatest actor of all time. Paul Newman once said “we all looked up to Marlon”
Brando was probably the coolest man that ever lived, he had it all and he didn’t give a shit, no one could ever out do him or make him look small, he had that ability to be top dog without trying. he was flawed as well though, to pretend he wasn’t is to misrepresent the man. He hurt those who loved him but he was a complicated character, one of the most fascinating of all time. The power of his charisma was second to none really, he could sit in a chair saying nothing and still dominate a room full of powerful characters, he did it on film, anyone else on screen became secondary. I've studied the guy long time, and seen things differently so many times I have lost count, the man is unsolvable, a unique spirit.

June 12th 1973. I had just graduated from junior high school in Puerto Rico, enjoying my summer vacation, on my way to HS. It has taken me 38 yrs to understand why for Marlon Brando it was so much more important to talk about the injustices committed against the Native people than about his role in THE GODFATHER, by far my fav movie of all time. Brando with all his contradictions was in my opinion basically a good human being worthy of our respect and admiration. Watching this interview of less than an hr, I've learned more about the problems of our Native people than what I had learned during the last 63 almost 64 yrs since the day I was born. THANK YOU DICK CAVETT. RIP MARLON BRANDO.
Dick Cavett was such a great talk show host. His talent as such is overlooked but hopefully never forgotten. He knows how to navigate a conversation in a civil manner with different kinds of characters. His talent is truly underappreciated.

I actually find his questions rather rude and provocative. This clinging to "did you throw cow manure from the window" grew old real quick. He doesn't converse, he just throws a random question in and hopes that the interviewee will say something funny.

Back when a talk show had, you know, actual back and forth conversations. For decades since talk shows have been host(s) spouting opinions and the guests advertising their latest project and nothing more.

I love him for his honesty. What a man so far ahead of his time when it comes to race relations. And he is quite right! The night he asked that beautiful Indian woman on stage on Oscar night was a moment in history!
If Brando gets it in 1973, I have no patience for people who don't get it in 2021.

Things are not the same now as they were in 73. To actually get it, you have to want to see the truth, be open to it so you can recognize the changes already made, and honestly continue to try to always improve. Otherwise, it's just lazy virtue signaling.

Right? It’s so annoying. The thing is people hated Brando too because of the fact he wasn’t the typical American being biased and all the other crap along with it

@@andrewwilkins6553 not typical at all. Every country and every culture has its share of racist or “biased” people. The U. S. A. by and large has more welcoming people in the world. But, like Marlon it has become an easy target.
Beyond Marlon’s mysterious and on first impressions negative persona, he’s actually pointing out his observations of the world and serious things being shunned whilst unimportant consumerism and misinterpreted media, gets tons of attention. Marlon was a very wise and caring man who saw how not only the entertainment industry, but the way the world was going in the 70s.
Rocksteady. So happy I came upon this jewel. Marlon my man! Thank you for posting this and awakening me to something significant as it hits my late horizon!!
He wasn't just an outstanding actor, he was an outstanding human being.

@@denverdubois5835 Nobody is perfect and it is especially hard to verify relantionships inside someone's family. First of all I don't think it is a good thing to talk about your private life in public. And if someone feels the need of speaking about this kind of things, he can always visit psychologist, not media.
He reminds me of Prince’s interviews. Too cool for anyone. So humble and intelligent that they don’t realize how much they are revered. He had so much compassion before the time of enlightenment. What he talks about is what people are rioting about today! He was ahead of his time! Not many humans get to this level. Rip Marlon.

Brando has always been my number one favorite actor and heart throb and still is. No one can compare to his talent, appeal and charisma.
Marlon Brando was a gem. He could make you think. It wasn’t a pointless conversation with him it was meaningful. He was a very passionate person. RIP
Always loved Marlon Brando one of the best actors ever acted his way through this entire interview without revealing his true self
His autobiography gives away some of his deeper visions and senses. A great human being and among the most excellent actors of all times as far as I see it.

What a man! So eloquent, so poignant. Amazing interview
Respect to Marlon Brando,he's precise insightful in his argument with his host. He was a inner thinker, slow and precise in his speech and I think he was a very misunderstood person.
Love this man, courageous and done with the ignorance of hate
Damn! Brando was well spoken, actually thinks before he speaks and was truly fucking cool!!!!!! He oozed cool out of every pore!!!
