Sami Zayn on CM Punk, WWE Creative, the 'Triple H Era', his wife on TV, connection with fans & more!

Спорт

One of my favourite people to interview! Loved chatting with Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who talks about his massive win over Gunther at WrestleMania, how his wife Khadijah feels about being on WWE TV, his true feelings about CM Punk, the connection he has with the fans, the creative differences in this new 'Triple H Era', Chad Gable and much, much more!

    I really like how he approached to deal with punk returning. A lot of people have grudges and everyone has a different way of treating it. His is probably the best for maintaining a professional work relationship. Just have that conversation clear whatever it is that bothered you, let the other guy have their say, bury the hatchet and move on. That’s how the locker room doesn’t go into mess because of personal grudges. I think even punk has matured a lot after having those experiences in the past to try and make a peace with people who have a problem with him being back. If he has to survive here he needs to change and he is definitely showing that. It’s a win-win for everyone if they can work their differences out and work together.

I think Steve Austin said his kids had just gone to bed a few moments before his neck was broken. So it's easy when they're just putting on a show but shit gets real without a warning. What he said about Punk is spot on. There's no point harbouring anything because Punk isn't worth it. If he knows he's still under your skin, he feeds off of that and he doesn't deserve even a black cloud.

    They disliked each other in their time during ROH around 2005/06 before Punk went to WWE probably because of their ideological differences about wrestling. Sami wasn't this Sami before nor was Kevin Owens, Sami was a spot fest wrestler like the bucks with a mask, trying to be a lucha and Kevin Owens was a garbage can wrestler who bleeded and had chairs, ladders, glass and tables spot every match. And Punk being a straight forward confrontational dude, a veteran in ROH by that time, who tells things straight if he doesn't like it. Now, it's good to see that they have worked it out in wwe.

    @@theicekingonYT Nah bro it’s on like every single wrestling video I watch there is so many comments where they misspell someone’s name right. At first it was fine but now it’s crazy. Also what does knowing someone personally have to do with spelling they name right? That makes zero sense.

    Literally, all these places are using Punk to get views. And people swore Punk was a problem yet we see the place he left was clearly the problem. Everyone who deals with Punk in WWE say he’s been a joy to be around. It’s because fans and pro wrestlers alike all listen to a certain news letter dork and his ratings system too much. The goof who doesn’t know anything about wrestling but makes everything up. When you listen to clowns, you get a circus.

He was asked to stay in aew by Tony Khan while he didn't want to any longer. Punk was a old school wrestler and that's how the wrestlers in old days handled the young arrogant ones if they don't listen to veterans and disrespect them. It sucks how they just took Chad's angle and gave it to Sami. His whole feud wt GUNTHER was like 2 weeks, had little heat and the match was not on the level of Gable's.

  • @amirpourghoureiyan1637

    @amirpourghoureiyan1637

    My thoughts exactly, ending a significant title reign should be done to elevate talent - Sami's already at his peak and he was one of the top 10 over guys in WWE before the win, he's been given the IC champion for a fourth time now when Chad really needed this to get out of the midcard. Gable's handling the heel turn well but it doesn't have the same impact that the Mania win could've, I feel once this angle with Sami is over then he'll fall back down the card again and be resigned to being job fodder like Nakamura.

  • @davidstratton696

    The only thing that sucked was the fact that the feud was only 2 weeks. I felt the same way going into it but Sami’s amazing entrance and the amazing story they told during the match somewhat made up for it but I still wasn’t sure how I felt about it being Sami. But the more and more time goes on the more and more I’m behind it and see why they did it. Sami’s doing an amazing job as IC champ and we got that amazing heel turn for Gable that we wouldn’t have gotten if Sami didn’t win the IC title. It’s also a huge burden to have dethroned Gunther which Sami can handle but Gable most likely would’ve crumbled. His heel turn was needed.

  • @davidstratton696

    @davidstratton696

    Күн бұрын

    @@amirpourghoureiyan1637 The thing is tho they needed a big name who can handle the burden of dethroning Gunther. Which Sami definitely can but someone like Gable I don’t think could. They can still give Gable his moment. The next 1 on 1 match they have Gable can beat him using underhanded tactics and that makes Sami still look good while giving Gable his moment without it being a very big burden like dethroning Gunther was. And with making Sami still look good here and having him be the one to dethrone Gunther makes him look amazing enough to be in the world title picture where he belongs (gotta be another reason they choose him). I really hope they don’t turn him into a jobber like Nakamura. That would be so dumb to do to one of their biggest and most over/talented stars. And yes this is Sami’s 4th run as IC champ but this is his first run with it as a babyface and it’s also his best run with it. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but the more and more time that goes on the more I’m getting behind them choosing Sami. Sami is doing an amazing job as IC champ and we got that amazing heel turn from Gable that was not only needed but we never would’ve gotten if Sami didn’t dethrone Gunther (I prefer this heel turn angle far more then I would’ve a Mania win honestly). The build up to Mania between Sami and Gunther may have been little but Sami’s amazing entrance and the story they were telling during the match somewhat made up for it.
