Sam & Max: Hit the Road - Intro
Ойындар
Sytem: MS-DOS. Developed in 1993 by LucasArts.
One of the funniest and overall best point and click adventure games of all time. The cult characters of the Freelance Police, created by Steve Purcell, are currently enjoying a revival in six new adventure games currently being developed by Telltale Games in an episodic format. I recommend you visit telltalegames.com and have a look at the demos, they truly capture the spirit and humour of the original.
Music is generated by DOSBox OPL3 FM synthesis emulation (game set up to "4-OP FM"). I am aware that better sound quality can be achieved by using MT-32 emulation or TiMidity++, but chose to go with the tinny AdLib sound I, and many others, fondly remember and associate with games of the era ;) Sorry about the bad mixing though!

Sam: Max where should I put this bomb, so it wouldn't hurt anyone we know and care about? Max: Out the window Sam, there's nothing but strangers out there. XD

"mind if i drive?" "NOT IF YOU DONT MIND ME CLAWING AT THE DASH and SHRIEKING LIKE A CHEERLEADER!" lol
I learnt the word "misanthrope" from this game when I was 7. It's been all good from there on.
the intro is a classic example of a nice guy

Their childlike joy at Flint Paper shooting a smiley face into the wall is wonderful.
It takes a bit of getting used to, mainly because Max' voice is not that "characteristic" anymore. But the new voices are also very professionaly and lovingly done, and I think you'd get to like them too.
I love the sign that says "Vehicles will be stolen" I just recently started reading sam and max (used to watch the old cartoon show.) I love theses guys so much.
Lucas Arts died when they canceled the point-and-click-adventure-games.
The game was released on floppy disks and CD-ROM. If you have the floppy version, you will not have any voices, they were only included with the CD version.

I got in from CD-ROM, but my old PC did not have sound card, so.... read only :(. yet, it was an amazing game. :D
The over the top MANLY voice of that cat, still gets me haha. I remember the first time hearing that. Totally did not expect the cat to talk or sound like that :D
This game had such witty humor I've been playing it since I was 4 last year when I played it again I actually understood the jokes lol.
I remember when i was young i thought there was something painful about the rope that was stopping him from untieing the woman... god i was dumb...

The telephone scene still cracks me up 26 years later! Sam throws Max out the window, and a minute later he walks back in as if nothing happened! I miss Lucasarts point and click adventure games, not the later 3D stuff, the old 2D 320x240 stuff!

I love this game so much that I tattooed max on my back! he is the coolest character in pc game history!
"...out the window Sam, there's nobody but strangers out there." Hahaha
"I think he's cute, Sam. Can I make a tennis racket out of him?" xD LoL this never gets old
finally found this game after searching for it forever. i remember playing this as a kid. good times
I always loved the idea of a story starting out with the tail end of the previous adventure.
"Out the window Sam. There's nothing but strangers out there."
That is some awesome music at 2:19-4:12
"Brutal..." "..But very true to life!" LOL!!!
darn i remember that game when i was a kid. And I was a kid so my big bro played. But still was heck of a fun to watch him play through sam & max's universe. Classic
-"We don't go upstairs". -"Not since the accident".
Sam's voice is Bill Farmer, and Max's voice is Nick Jameson. According to IMDb they are both still actively voice acting for video games, and Jameson really seems to have been busy starting an acting career over the last couple of years, so you'll probably see/hear him in a couple of upcoming movies.

One of my fav games ever, laughed so much, even though I didn't have the voiced version :P
@MrYourtoaster Wow, you're right! If you pause at just the right frame, with the bullet that travels closest to the camera in view, it says "MAX" on the side of it. Awesome.
I learned the word "acumen" from this game when I was 12.
I remember constantly restarting the game just to watch this intro!! I feel so nostalgic, I remember when my big sister’s ex gave me this game
its the old bit music i remember from all the classics, sonic was my personal favourite some of the songs are actual masterpieces
For incels the scientist must be the true hero of the game.
Gosh the nostalgia! :O
@TheSuperGamefreak That´s what made me sad when I first heard the new series. I miss these voices ´cause they´re the original and throughout my childhood, playing this about a million times, it´s sooo hard to listen to the new voices.
"friends? friends?!" "can I keep his head as a souvenir?" ah memories :-)
this video introduced me to the sam and max fandom ill never forgive you for that
Wow! Haven't this in a while. Brings back childhood memories.
Sweet! Now that's what I call a hilarious cartoony computer game! Wish I had that!

R.I.P Lucas Arts :*(
The music is awesome!!!
Nothing will be better than this classic but the tell tale games come surprisingly close.
Such awesome memories!!!
that statement is subjective, although I prefer the new Sam, I can't tell which Max I like more.

+Cuco Manifestado I don't think there needs to be a reboot. Pretty much every form of Sam and Max media references another, from the comics to Hot the Road. It's not like the Sam and Max series is really plot heavy anyway.

with telltale gone, there's not really anyone to do justice to Sam & Max, especially considering it's been roughly eight years since season 3. we can only hope another game studio can come along and give our beloved freelance coppers some new material.
just like most of you guys say, this is an awesome game. Learnt many things and started loving adventure games thanks to these games. Need to take out the CD and play it again sometime soon.
These guys are crazy!! My God, it absolutely rules!!
Remember playing this in the 90's lol
I miss this game
one of my favorite games EVER!
Haha I really lol'd at the start of the game when you press the button to make Max "interact" with that cat outside their office, dude, I love this game! :D
2:18 - 4:13 for the opening credits
I can't believe it has been almost 20 years already.
@MaxRideWizardLord Sam is making those noises because while he may be trying to untie the girl, he is distracted by Max utterly tearing the bad guy apart. So as he grabs the rope he goes "ooh" as Max gives the bad guy a thwack in the head...or whatever the heck he's doing to him. Point is: it's gruesome. :P
The new sam and max games rocks, but the old one here is still the KING, there is just something with how its build, the 2d graphics the sounds and music, i doubt it will ever be matched.
I love this game so much
such an awesome game. i can remember playing it when i was about 10 or 11. i got it as a pack that also came with day of the tentacle and indiana jones: fate of atlantis.
Lucasarts make the best point n' click games. Wish they'd still keep at it. I loved day of the tentacle, sam and max, and Full Throttle.
Man, this brings back memories. Games like this, Full Throttle, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Monkey Island and other action/adventure/rpg's from this time were awesome. Just seems like games don't have as big an impact these days.
OMG this game was awesome
Thanks :) No I recorded this directly from the game with DOSBox.

i remember having this on floppy disk and having to dress sam and max up or something?lol.I have still got the cd box versions of this and full throttle in my room :)

no need to force, it's impossible not to love them ^_^ Yay Sam and Max!
Nope, he doesn't appear. I think you can enter the store and hear some weird stuff, but you never see or hear Bosco himself.
I only love that Sam and Max are like brothers.
LucasArts, please make a sequel!!!
Full Throttle, The dig, the longest journey...
Either termites are burrowing thru my skull, or one of us is ticking rofl
but you gotta admit that telltale did a great job with the new sam & max episodes (especially the 2nd season)

OMG!! I totally owned this game.... i think my fav part was when u played golf with the alligators and max in the one bin thingy... omg this was the best game ever...
Uh, where have you been for the last year...? Somebody's already taken up that mantle.
Great Game. One of the first I ever played.
Both sets of voices are great, i DO prefer these ones but thats probably because they're imprinted into my childhood, im just glad there are new games at all.
their car is so cool
100 Snazzes on the 100 Point Snazz-o-Scale! Perfect! -One of the best and funniest games ever! -The game: An easy to use interface that still presents great challenges. -The story: Totally silly! -The humor: FANTASTIC! Almost every word and visual is hilarious. There's even an option to say something goofy just for fun. My favorite: SAM: Computer games are your best entertainment dollar value. MAX: Go buy some computer games right now! Especially the funny Lucasarts ones.
No I recorded it myself. When you say that Sam and Max sound different, it is probably because you have played the new adventures by Telltale Games. This video is from the original 1993 version by LucasArts, which had different voice actors.
If I see anybody with this game, I will simply rob you of it, by any means necessary.
No I ran it under DOSBox, I like its comfortable video recording function.
ahhh, the good old days of DOS and Adlib. games were more game than gape, back then
My dad and I are always saying 'Friends?! Friends?!' in nostagic remembrance of this game. They really don't make 'em like they used to, do they?
Best game ever!
@janmansde3dede Yes, there was a bundle containing Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle that was released for both DOS and Amiga (AGA). I think the Amiga version just contained the DOS CD with the data files and an additional CD with an interpreter for Amiga.
This is my favorite game ever, so some questions: are the cartoons worth to see? is there gonna be any sam&max hit the road 2 or something? What about sam&max wii games? are they good? thanks :D
