Sam & Max Hit the Road is a graphic adventure video game released by LucasArts during the company's adventure games era. The game was originally released for MS-DOS in 1993 and for Mac OS in 1995. A 2002 re-release included compatibility with Windows. The game is based on the comic characters of Sam and Max, the "Freelance Police", an anthropomorphic dog and "hyperkinetic rabbity thing". The characters, created by Steve Purcell, originally debuted in a 1987 comic book series. Based on the 1989 Sam & Max comic On the Road, the duo take the case of a missing bigfoot from a nearby carnival, traveling to many Americana tourist sites to solve the mystery.

I really love how like 99% of this is just their commentary, it's like just one really long joke, with enough changes it doesn't get boring.

I remember this was the way my sister and I use to play this game
I appreciate the fact that you took the time to look at things and talk to people at length. I've seen other playthroughs where they skip most of that and it cuts the dialog in half, taking a lot of the charm this game has to offer away.

I couldn’t agree more. Most of the charm and effort that went into games like this was in the writing.

To this day I think the voices of S&M from this game were the best. Never really liked how either of them were voiced after this.

I just have an issue with how much Sam sounds like Charlie Sheen in the Telltale games. It reminds me of Dex Dogtective from Foodfight.

I love this game, I finished it a couple of times.
One of the funniest games next to "Day of the Tentacle" and "Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist". I still have my original discs with this one and all the other LucasArts releases.

Never played this one in the 90s but played dott.. Bernard or look-alike at counter of rest stop is curious but in other playthroughs he has a mustache and in this one he doesn't 🤔

you know, with this gameplay, unlike the one from the adventure gamer, i get to learn what the game is actually about! the guy at the gator land, the lady in the mystery vortex, the guy at the giant ball of twine and the siamese guys all had a bigfoot that suddenly was gone (prior to that they were mistreated) and sam and max are all finding their hairs and clues to try to find bruno. plus conroy who's hunting them. in the other gameplay i only saw him solving all the puzzles and stuff, but not seeing the dialogues that does the questions or hints that leads you to solve them. i'd say i learned more of the story with you than TAG
They didn't get Harvey Atkin and Rob Tinkler at the time? Well, the cartoon was released in 1997.

so far none of the playthroughs i can remember seeing any time recently, contains: approaching the cave without the sword
