Munt produces surprisingly accurate MT-32 emulation these days compared to much older builds and because it's built-in to Ykhwong's DOSBox, you don't have to worry about installing the standalone driver - and it works on 64-bit systems, too!

Instructions:
1. Install Ykhwong's DOSBox, which has built-in MT-32 emulation.
2. Extract the ROM files inside the "Roland MT-32 ROMs.rar" archive into the DOSBox installation directory.
3. Open the DOSBox configuration and change mididevice=default to mididevice=mt32.
4. Run DOSBox and enjoy!
(Optional)
- Tweak the MT-32 settings in the DOSBox configuration to suit your tastes. For me, I changed the type of reverb to a less-muddy preset and I added some more reverb volume, as it seemed too dry for my tastes. To do so I used the following custom values:
mt32.reverb.mode=2
mt32.reverb.level=5
- To run games at your screen's native resolution, use the following values:
fullresolution=desktop
output=direct3d
(if this causes noticeable slowdowns, switch to output=surface and fullresolution=original - note that you will not be able to record video using software like Dxtory or FRAPS in surface mode)
