Good for you, Jack … our culture is so bloody prudish … it’s just your basic run of the mill vampire story … 🤣

I've seen this movie multiple times now and if it DOESN'T receive Oscar nominations I'll be highly surprised

So far it is only favored for cinematography, but Keoghan deserves a Best Actor nod. His performance is riveting.

Looking forward to this, but I doubt I will enjoy it more than Promising Young Woman. I would have voted for it over Nomadland and would have voted for Mulligan over McDormand at the Oscars that year.

Imma watch Promising Young Woman again. I haven't seen it since the year it released. If you watch Saltburn though, let me know what you think. Cheers!

Sounds like the bottom line for you guys was that you found it fun. I found it to be a slow burn with erratic story developments and too disgusting to be fun. I agree with you, Ryan, that it's Oscar chances are slim, with the noms you mentioned being its only shot.

Erratic story developments is well put and accurate. It definitely got pretty nasty and mean spirited towards the end. Thanks for chiming in and watching!

British films are much different than Hollywood films…. They have a different sense of humor and do life different… class is a big thing there… and they don’t ( for the most part think their problems need to be spoken about) I believe some people won’t get that

Why is there an asterisk next to nominations and wins in a pandemic year? What think when people say the film has no commentary. What is the very first music cue we hear in the film? What is that music usually used for? Connect it to the what room the last scene of the film starts? The lyrics (which are in English) were even partially changed for this movie. I find people who don’t feel the movie has any commentary miss the music cue at the beginning, which is very important. Especially when it comes to an aristocratic family line and the main character of the film. About certain scenes that some people think aren’t justified. What is the very first question asked in the film? Those scenes give you the answer and let’s you know something very important and I guess … contradicting about the main character. They also make sense as there is escalation, but I find everyone dismissed some of the hints about the character at the beginning to the point where people don’t even mention them. I know I did.

Id say Oppenheimer will get oscar for cinematography or best picture. And saltburn for best original screenplay. I also predict Downey Jr or DeNiro will get best supporting actor

I was sitting next to younger people who went because they were fans of Jacob elordi and they did not know what kind of movie it was. At the end one was less happy and said "well i hope it was worth it to see Jacob"

Not Babylon for me that's for sure!!! Couldn't sit through Babylon beyond the 1.5 hr mark and I wanted more of Saltburn. I think this is a much better produced movie but I prefer PYW more. I'm very entertained by it so I do recommend it.... but pls don't bring a family member with you......

I think it depends on the family. Someone I know, their mother recommended Saltburn to them thinking they would love it. I also think…not being from the US, while some scenes are …different, it was still rated the high schooler rating in my area. So … it’s not too out there. (Most US R rated films get rated 14A which is the high schooler rating where I live. Most but not all. We don’t have the equivalent of a US R so usually a US R rating gets rated lowered to 14A. Sometimes it gets rated higher. The higher rating means no one under 18 can see it to the point of checking ID and regardless if parents bring their 17 year old kid. This rating applies to extreme violence and sexual situations.)

Best way to watch this film is to know nothing. Stop this review now, especially before 4:45. You don’t want to know any character motivations or who you should be siding with, that’s the whole movie. Trust me.

Spoilers ahead. Promising Young Woman was much better than Saltburn. While both controversial, at least Carey Mulligans' character did her revenge tour without hurting anyone or killing anyone. Also, the guy who killed her did not get away with it at the end. In Saltburn, Barry Keoghans' character was just a mentally ill (in a violent, manipulative, destructive way) and he got away with killing at least three family members. I am hoping Fennells' third movie is closer to Promising Young Woman than Saltburn.

Yeah he's definitely more of a villain lead. PYW had more of a hero lead.. she's definitely more likable. I can see why that would turn some people off.. the fact that Keoghan's character is so unlikable. Unfortunately, for me Saltburn was so incredibly scandalous and outrageous I couldn't help but enjoy the wild ride full of shocking drama lol

*Hardly* a Quentin Tarantino Babylon! Considerably more complex and layered. And her name is pronounced “fuh - NELL” not “fennel.”
