Salt Rookie No More! - Made my FIRST Land Speed Racing Pass at Bonneville Speed Week 2023 - Video 5

FINALLY!! Despite a LOT of odds - we made a pass at Speed Week 2023. My FIRST ever land speed racing attempt. I had to go to Rookie orientation in the morning and then got to make my Rookie pass as the very last pass of the day. This is a good one guys!

@Robert.Isaac.Cunningham non cltuch assisted gear box you use the clutch to take off but after that you can just pull it to each gear without clutching. But those types of gearboxes the only thing holding it in each gear is you staying under power the instant you let off they will usually jump outta gear to neutral thus why they are best for racing only

Fantastic! I'm 57 years old and grew up watching Wide World of Sports. That was my introduction to the The Salt Flats. I have to say, I started tearing up when they closed the door and the look on your face! I lost control of my emotions when you did at the end of the run!! Thank you so very much for taking us all along with you!!! Peace and love to you all!!

Way to go Alex... always so professional in your approach, asking questions, double checking, going through the motions in your mind... a great example of how to do it right. As I watched you prepare on the start line, making sure you were ready... understanding the nerves that you were feeling right then and how well you handled them... and knowing how big a deal it is to run on the salt, I actually got emotional. And of course, nice driving as always! Nice crisp shifts too. Proud of you Alex! I wish I could have been there this year to watch you run. LSR can be addicting... I can see Dennis building a whole different kind of car for you...

WOW WOW WOW, Girl you have no idea how this was emotional for everybody watching. Couples of videos building up the suspense right until 29:43 when you untied yourself and let all that pressure out, Well guess what? We felt it, we also let the pressure out too with you! Great job to your sis for the video. I was not a fan of Bonneville racing, watched it a few times and in my trucking life, I even passed by the area. But you made us discover another world of racing and it's addictive. What a fascinating world, Those guys are super professionals and I can't wait until you proudly get into that 200 mile select club" Stay fast, stay pretty

Alex, so cool. I built a car in 2010 and ran at Speedweek 2011. Did not set a record in D/CGALT but was able to make some runs over 200! It was a 42 year old dream. Now you get it! Two kinds of people in this world...those that have raced at Bonneville and those that have not! Very special place for however long we can still race there. Now make plans to go back and up that License to an "A" or "AA". Keith and Tonya are the best. You had great support.
