I lived there in the 50's-60's. It was horrible. God I hate nostalgia, but then even nostalgia ain't wot it used to be. Nostalgia actually became classified as a disease during the last quarter of the 18th century. ("Nostalgia: a 'forgotten' psychological disorder. ", G. Rosen ). If I ever had to go back to live in Salford I would much rather live there now than back then. There were no flowers on the Irwell back in the 50/60's, it was a sewer.
