Hand the film to Manchester uni and ask them to remaster it, this needs to be preserved and enhanced, far too little of Wythenshawe's happy past remains

I remember wythenshawe in the 60's,left in 1970, but this brought back memories. My playground was where the M56 now runs through. My beloved ' "Nana"" lived on Greatfield Road. It was to me, a heavenly place for kids to play. Thank you

Oh wow, I've come here after it's been shared to a group on Facebook called Wythenshawe 1 😄 I absolutely love this, it was filmed a little before my time but I have always wanted to see some old footage of my hometown. Thank you to the creators and sharers 🙌

Great film and thanks for putting it altogether. I first went to live in Wythenshawe when i was 6 in 1958 . My playground was when they were building Civic Centre. This has brought back lots of good memories. Well done.

Thanks for posting, the only thing I regret about growing up in Wivvy in the 70s was that we didn't have the tech (video cams etc) we have now, 60s & 70s were the best eras for W/Shawe , I'm still here though ;)

Loved seeing the paddle boats, we loved those boats. this was our park just around the corner from our home. My sister worked at the Golden Garter for a short time and Sharston baths, brilliant memories bought back...along with a bit of Roxy music.

The estate was built on former farms and agricultural land. In the 60s you could still see the remains of ponds and streams. For some children coming from slum housing this was a green paradise.

Pictures Northernden great memories. On Saturday you said you were 12 on the bus to get half fare, then said you were 18 to get into see the Hammer House of Horror specials, then you were 18 again in the pubs down the way and finally back to 12 for the bus home. Never forget the Airport Hotel at end of the runway. Dad took me in there for a treat on my 16th Birthday only for barman to ask if I wanted my usual pint.

For someone who grew up in wythenshawe and likes Roxy music, this is a brilliant video. theres things on here I never thought I'd see again, like the Adventure playground (still have a scar on my knee from there) The woods (not been there since 82) the turnstile at the baths at the forum. The inside of Sharston baths. Thanks for posting. You've brought back fantastic memories.

Fond memories of Painswick park and it's paddle boats 5:50. that park was a holiday for me back then, there was always some kind of event going on in the summer holidays. I can tell money was tight back then by the cheap video camera used to take the footage. Still a great video Sharston Baths, thanks for sharing.

This is amazing thank you for sharing it, Hollyhedge is a shell of what it used to be, all the things that made it great have changed or gone, it was so family friendly, a job for everyone, Then slowly they/Government.... Took it all away, and blamed the people, causing a divide and separation. But it's where the biggest of all ❤️❤️❤️ are found xx

Sharston baths was a top laugh. As a Northenden boy, going for guitar lessons after school wearing short shorts and carrying a guitar was pretty scary. You know what, you do need to work out how to not show intimidation in life so useful. My Mum and Dad live in Sharston these days and I have to say Civic is a lot less scary now.

@@garycross2741 it may not have been as rough as I thought, but the streets were always full of kids playing out, which they are not now, and if they didn't know you they did like to give you grief or offer to fight you.
