Salchow on Inline Skates Breakdown 1
This is my first technical breakdown on the Salchow jump. I started learning this about a week ago, and I am determined to get a consistent, fluent single salchow down before I continue focusing on the single axel. Let me know what you think about the new voice over style of video editing!

Haha, they’ll look good soon enough! They all look bad to me considering how many attempts it took me to even get those clips 😅
"Next Edge Tutorials" (channel) just released a "How To Start Learning A Salchow As A Beginner" She is VERY good at teaching.

@@SolidSkates i give up, i almost died lol. Suddenly a storm came over and branches of trees fell down while i was at the skatepark
Love it haha. You got a couple good ones. I laughed at your double attempts (I would probably slam worse than you), you're brave to try them and it shows how hard an extra rotation really is. Keep the awesome work. :)

Hey there! I can't even do a waltz jump without emotional supprt of somehere (or someone) to hold my hands to, so who am I to say anything 😅 but my coach instructs me to land with free leg forward, and swing it backwards after the other foot is already on the ground. I don't know, but maybe it helps? Or maybe it's only to look prettier after the jumping is consistent enough? Anyway, congrats! Quad skate instructions that I've seen for the salchow includes using the toestop, which you don't even have!

I’ll try forcing my free leg forward in the air, thanks for the potential tip! Even if it is just to make it prettier that’s what I want as well. Are you a quad skater getting more into the artistic style?

Ай бұрын
@@SolidSkates Yes! I used to skate on quads as a kid, and returned a couple of years ago. Been having artistic lessons for nearly one year, but I'm not seeing too much progress... I think the school is quietly trying to pressure me into doing a test to teach me more stuff only after that. Or I maybe just suck, really. I do am afraid of falling so maybe I don't risk enough to have more progress. It's nice to see your falls (and saves) and keep trying again. Wizard skating on inlines is super cool too. I might end up buying inlines proper for that, since I can (and do) blame my different skates for my incompetence in this style 🤣

Your comment actually helped me quite a bit! I focused on keeping my free leg forward and it forced me to keep my chest up and the whole jump clicked a lot better! Keep practicing those artistic moves!
Question, are your skates rockered?
@SolidSkates
Ай бұрын
Yes, the frame has a 2mm rocker on the front and back wheel, but they wear down quickly and are closer to 3 mm, so it’s pretty aggressive
