Inline Figure Skating Session 9
Today's practice session I decided to focus on my Salchows, and trying to connect them in to a combo with my single axel. I also addressed what kind of gear I wear because I've gotten a couple comments about wearing a helmet/ protective gear on some other videos.

Hahaha I like how you did a whole intro on the helmet and then forgot to wear it. Legend 😂

Haha you’ll see me wear a helmet eventually when I make down hilling or street videos 😂
i just landed my first waltz jump last week and i was ECSTATIC, it really is thanks to your slow paced, chill videos that make me at ease skating without the fear of people looking, that has caused me to improve so much the last month. And I mean REALLY improve. I want to get good at waltz jumps, split jumps and maybe a spiral since theyre the most gorgeous figure skating moves imo. But for now, giving that waltz jump some height is enough to focus on :) Keep it up!

I love the feedback! Keep me updated on your progress! I’m glad my videos actually help a few of you guys.
I love seeing you improve in real time! Also, i enjoy these style of videos because it kinda feels like im with you there. I always watch them all the way through.

Wow, I love this comment so much. Thank you!! I will continue to make this kind of video, I really appreciate the feedback! I will also continue to get better, expect great things!
I'm an urban skater but you've inspired me to try some figure skating moves. Spins make me dizzy though.

I love it! I feel like this is a totally under practiced style, let me know how learning some of the moves goes! Learning figure skating moves made me twice as motivated to go out and practice as much as possible. I love the massive skill tree in figure skating and all of the progressions.
Wtf money to pratice!?!?!? That's kind of mind blowing.

I don't know if it counts as a combo, but I liked the flow of it! It probably would count if you didn't have to step out. Thinking on the feet alone, it could be done if it was Axel first and Salchow after. But I don't know if the change of direction would work. In competition they jump always to one single direction, so I think they only train the other for fun.
@SolidSkates

You’re right I think that axel first would be easier. I worked on my clockwise salchow so now I can do it in the same direction as my axel and it’s an actual combo 😅 I’ll do it in my next video!
It's always a good day when Solid posts And same, I never wear helmets either, although I SHOULD, because I'm a speed skater lmao. I watch your videos to see how to freestyle, sadly my academy doesn't teach freestyle oof

Do you ever skate outside of your academy with non speed skates? Let me know if you ever post some videos, I’d love to see some of your skating!

@@SolidSkates I'm thinking of posting online, and yes I do sometimes. I actually use normal skates for speed training as well lmao because I'm still saving up to get an actual pair of speed skates lols.

@@adamyascreations6802 you should post! I spent way too long just thinking about it, and putting it off assuming I’ll feel better about posting when I finally get better at skating. But now I wish I started earlier!
Today I practice lunges and attempting hydroblading on ice and I realized I now need to get knee pads haha.
@SolidSkates

What is hydroblading? And I literally never take my knee pads off now, sometimes I don’t even take them off in between sessions when I go home to rest and I’ll take a nap in them 😅

I love the Hydroblade move! I think there's a whole video compilation of hydroblades in Yuzuru's programs here on KZread. I've seen it called hydrogliding too (without hands on the ice) and similar moves are the Coffin in roller skating (or Sonja in Portuguese and Spanish) and a dragon squat.

@@SolidSkates yea it is hard to explain but search up hydroblading. It is such a cool and pretty move to add to your program. I somehow do not have enough leg strength to get myself back up so I keep falling on my knees, so now I gotta get knee pads 😭

@@SolidSkates That's good thinking.
Straight up serious man... you are now my one and only Subscription. I was literally having a mini rant yesterday about the lack of Advanced Inline Skating Videos and Tutorials on KZread. Then I find you, doing what I do wearing rhe same Skates and setup...wtf! Artistic Figure Skating on regular Inlines isn't really a thing generally so please don't stop doing this or start Wizard Skating on those weird long things. I did buy some Roll Line Linea Artistic Inline Frames but a boot that was nowhere near stiff enough but I may get some different boots at some point. I have no ice skating background and use my front wheels a lot so no major need for a toe stop/pick. Going to watch all your vids and look forward to seeing your progress...🫶

You’ve been practice figure skating on the exact same set up as me?? That’s crazy, you gotta show me some videos man. Have you tried any other set ups? I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to trying other skates. I’ve tried all of these moves in my 3x90mm set up and they are more difficult but it still works. I came to the conclusion that 4x80 is the best frame/wheel size but who knows.

I haven’t tried on any actual artistic frames, do they make a big difference?

@@SolidSkates Did make me chuckle that you posted the exact thing I've been hoping to find wearing the same skates and set-up. I have two pairs of the Evo's: one with a 243mm 4x80 and the other with a downsized 231mm 4x76 which I actually prefer because it's more agile, but less stable at speed. I have to get some footage this weekend and post some...

@@SolidSkates I had literally 10 minutes on my Artistic Frames because I put them on an Ice Dance Boot which was too low and not supportive enough. They did feel pretty good considering the very short three wheel set-up and very very responsive set on maximum rocker. The obvious downside Vs our Inlines is the Frame Hight, even more so fixed to an Ice Boot with a big heel. You'd need some really stiff boots to counter the lateral flex. I think I would enjoy the Artistic Set-up with the correct boots but hesitant to lose my front wheels for a toe stop, I'm not sure I really need it and I'd have to re-train my brain not to lift my heels. No more Moonwalks!!! I don't know about that...

@@MrGutterbunny wow 231 is a short frame, I’m guess that probably would be better for jumps. Get some footage! I gotta see it
