I love it so far but i have three issues. 1. There's not enough long hairstyles 2. It's difficult adjusting the eyes to create an Asian character. 3. Most of the tattoos and clothing options are Southwest american themed and needs more variety like Saints row 4. Other than that its awesome.

SW America themed makes sense since that's where you're located. You're bound to find more local friendly things as that's just natural. But a tat from anywhere else here and there wouldn't hurt as it's not unheard of for people to ask for a Tattoo that's nothing like what a store presents. So maybe they could at least kinda let us make our own as a feature through basic Graphic Designs akin to making a custom Emblem but as a tattoo.

@@guccigoldak4723 American isn't what I'm talking about, I mean local in its most literal form. There's a lot of cities with their own localized stuff that can only be found there. If you are in South West areas of the US, you're more likely going to see a lot of Latin style stuff due to the proximity of Mexico along with traditional American stuff you'd expect from everywhere in the US. Steelport is heavily inspired by Pittsburgh (aka the Steel City), and since it's Saints Row, it's got traditional SR stuff. And in IV, it's literally in a simulation written by Zinyak himself so he's going to put whatever he feels in it. I don't doubt the diversity and this reboot is no exception. But it's gotta be natural to some degree or you'll get something like Call of Duty Vanguard where diversity feels forced and artificial.

I have a character in every game that's a caucasian woman with "hooded eye" shape. With the new customization, and the lack of fine adjustments in this case for eyes, she just ends up looking like a blue-eyed Japanese lady...

I ended up not liking the new customization system. You can't make all the fine adjustments. You gotta pick from eye, nose, etc presets. This system was clearly made with people who don't want to spend a hour in the creation menu in mind. Nothing wrong, but it's not what I wanted. I was able to make all my characters, but they all look slightly like a different person... I rate it a good 8/10 I'll take the previous systems over the new one.

Ummmm, there were presets to choose at first, but you can customize that preset with the same level of detail as the previous games. Are you sure you downloaded the correct demo? Lol

Character customization is mediocre and slightly worse than the previous series in my opinion. Although, some of the tools you can work with are good.

8:14 the fact that the game is not even out yet and we're already doing the "maybe the sequel will be better" i think is not a good sign

That's if there will be a sequel. If this game flops, it'll likely be it for Volition. The last studio I loved that went bankrupt due to less than ideal sales was Alpha Dream. And judging from that studio, Volition can't mess this game up and it needs to succeed. Agents of MAYHEM flopped and it hurt the studio, so I don't think they'll be able to survive another hit.

You also can’t have multiple facial piercings in the same area. For example, I would like my character to have multiple nose and eyebrow rings.

I wish they add more hairstyles and face shapes. They made it difficult to make a female character in my opinion

Basically all they have been talking about is how great the customization is going to be. No more mentions of the story or characters. And it turns out SR2 has better customization anyway

I dunno about that. SR2 and this both have certain advantages and disadvantages over each other. Either way, most games like this drop story trailers closer to launch and customization has always been a big selling point for the series.

Tbh i thought the customisation demo kinda sucked and felt pretty restrictive in terms of making your character and what clothing you could wear. If that’s what in game customisation is like in August after them bragging about customisation then yikes.

Yea they've kept their word alright about making the best customization possible. For shirts, I've seen more of what you can wear at home and restaurants than awesome and silly asf shirts that SR4 had. Maybe this is not all, maybe there's stores that has dozen of cool clothes to make creating characters more but if that ain't the case on August then well yikes too lol.

Saints row 2 had the best customization overall; this boss factory I was unable to create a gangster like boss for each race. Was bullshit and pissed me off.

Nah saints row 2 with gentleman of the row mod installed, wipes out the reboot buddy. All the “features” that volition is now just adding has been in sr2 for me for years now on PC. Reboot isn’t doing anything that hasn’t already been done.

I don't know what is more sad the fact they said they were going to aim for King of customization or the fact this is worst than Saints row 3-4, layer clothing is nice the color customization is nice even though a lot of game been had this way before 2009, like APB a 12-year-old game has better customization then SR1-2 combined, regardless of that how bad that game is in P2W it top both of those Saints row games, that something that rarely talked about really.

Wish they had gender options again, it just feels like a lot of work to make them male and female. But customization is decent and has more options in physical appearances, not many facial hair options or hair options for males. The customization is a 7.5/10 for me.

The gender choices were basically just presets themselves anyway and it unlocks extra freedom with that gone somewhat. As long as you choose a preset you like, it's not really that difficult.

@@nuggie4huggie23pp There's really no reason homophobia should even be considered since it's not a woke issue at all anyway. I think of it like you're playing with Clay and you can make it how you want it. Volition wasn't stupid like EA where they shoehorned in politics by allowing you to literally make transgenders in Sims 4. Volition was like "no gender preset, go nuts." I love it when a game can be politically unbiased since it's meant to be a game. Stick with tradition, add your personal flare, and everyone is happy outside of the nutty people who don't play games to begin with. Art should be done by the hands of the artist and nothing more.

It honestly took me 2 hours to make my character right, physical customization is good but when I try to put on the watch it doesn't due to a glitch.

@@agent4336 I guess you have a point. I personally didn't have issues but then again I'm not really the type to fine tune. But I get what you're saying.

The pseudo OCD inside of me makes me hate the fact there's no "shading" on the scalp. Certain hairstyles lets you see the bald scalp very easily and it's pretty annoying to look at (certain hairstyles hit the scalp completely though which is nice). The shading at least gives the illusion there's more hair than actually present and I think would really be a nice boon. Some of the downsides presented seem very easily avoidable and fixable as well which makes me kind of concerned for the rest of the game given this is a preview basically. I personally didn't have issues outside the no scalp shading but at the same time, if there's issues and things lacking even for a Character Creation demo, it makes me wanna hold off on the game until I find a few reviews on it. I have faith Volition won't totally mess it up since this is their last chance to make a banger game (literally), but that doesn't mean it won't launch with unnecessary problems that hurt the $60 value, especially today with inflation and a certain conflict involving a couple good sized nations, barring them from excuses imo.

my biggest gripe is the option for facial freckles, in this there's only one option and it's in the blush makeup category, so you cant have both. they really need to move it and add more. Also not being able to move facial features as much, like moving eyes down etc. I also really dislike that you can't recolour all the items in the vest with shirt and tie too, lastly I hope there's longer hair styles in the main game and I wish their were more emotes where your character spoke

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the new customization system. I mean it's decent but I think the missing features from the previous games is what's making me not so high on it. What's in the demo I k ow it's only a snippet but that snippet they presented wasn't that good to me atleast. The hairstyles I didn't like any of them, Half of my tattoo would disappear I'm guessing cause of the coat I had on, my necklace just goes away cause of my coat. it definitely has it problems and I hope it's fixed before launch. overall it's decent but I don't think k it's the best in the series

I don‘t know if it just me thinking that all eyebrows looks like if the Boss is really angry and want to kill someone, even if you want to adjust the eyebrows, there is always that evil look

I hope that more options are there on release, I have a feeling that's the case because some things that should already just be there aren't, certain sliders are missing that would help make a big difference, eyes look kinda weird and the options are really meh, some categories are almost completely empty and seem like more is supposed to be there, there's only 1 freckles option and it's barely noticeable and takes up a blush spot, skin and face detail options seem very lacking and also seem like it's missing stuff that's supposed to be there, I have a feeling certain things are going to be unlocked through gameplay such as walking and fighting styles if they bring that back from sr2, which probably won't be the case but just an example, if nothing is changed on release I'm perfectly fine with it since it's already good enough but I think it should have more than it currently does

I always thought the hundred sliders in the customization were too much. I never got the hang of what they all did but it was always nice finding somebody who understood it and using their character lol

For all the good additions like 4 colours for you hair, glossiness, teeth, metalicity, custom colours, asymmetrical face , etc..... there has also been some downsides like neck slider, races option, tattoos not being able to customize colours, sometimes it takes a miracle to make a decent looking female character. Ill give it a 7or 8/10.

For something that forced me to redownload Epic Games Launcher, I was not disappointed. The amount of goofy character recreations you can literally look at is something that gave me fun for a nice while just scrolling all these funny things people made. Chad, Peter Griffin, Morshu, The Rock, Beavis, Big Smoke and more, there is truly no end to how much stuff people are trying to recreate in that poor little character creator. With exception of the rather peculiar presets, I did not fricken expect seeing Belle Delphine being recreated.

I'm really hope they add more facial hair in the final game like SR1/SR4. My favorite facial hair is Beard of Payne, I rate it a 7.5/10.

I tried last night, trying to make the game appealing for me but I couldn't. I don't like at all, the lack of the sliders, the hair options for female are horrible and trying to do a good locking female boss is almost imposible even the SR3&4 characters creators are better than this. I think I'm gonna pass and stay with the old games until I can play on GP or found it on sale.

The hairstyles were incredibly disappointing for a female player. They seem to have made a deliberate choice to avoid long hair styles and I just don't understand why. Somehow the Witcher 3 despite being 7 years old has a much better selection of hair.

I personally prefer playing females in a lot of games even though I'm a guy irl, and I kind of agree. I feel like there wasn't enough, not just in hair but clothing too. It's great to see proper leggings in a game for once but at the same time it would be great for more variations. Where's all the Short Shorts, Tight Jeans, Yoga Pants? And there's only 2 Leggings, one that has designs so you don't get a single or double color choice without designs and the other is leather but what if I don't want shiny pants? I know there's a material option but they won't let you use it in the demo. There's a lot more you can get out of creating a female toon vs a male toon imo yet somehow it's the female that lacks to some degree. Granted this is just SOME of the options, but I feel like the final game won't add much more to alleviate the concerns. But we'll just have to wait and see.

They definitely need to add more styles in later, I had to scroll through the hair options a few times and lower my expectations before I settled on something that slightly resembles what I was after, even as a male character. Not sure why curly hair is too much to ask for in video games, it's always straight with a few nappy options.

@@torimato Something like GTA Online by default has more options for Females. Most of it is unisex but some things are gender locked and they tend to favor females. But even though Volition is marketing with The Boss as a protagonist, I think it's more so just that, marketing. The default boss here is female but with a very tomboyish look to the point she might as well be a male.

There better be some really cool masks in this game. The customization is super super bare

My main issue is that there's only SIX save slots. Seriously wtf Violation. Soul Cailber gave us 50 slots to work with. At least 10 slots in the demo would have been fine.

A glitch I found put the long arm sleeves on and then go to shirts and look through some of the shirts. On some of the outfits your arms will be gone.

I like the demo and am hype for the game the voices just took time to get use to I like number 7 the most and number 3 and 5 but I hope we get more clothes

I think they have done a solid job. It’s better in some aspects but some technical limitations limit the potential. I still think Saints Row 2 had my favorite customization options overall, but the character model in 2 itself looked too plain without the ability to customize features like skin texture/complexion, which you can do in this new Saints Row. Personally, with limitations as a concern, I could’ve done without facial asymmetry. Even though the feature is nice to have, I would rather have more sliders for custom eye shapes as opposed to having to rely on tweaking the base presets. Many of my characters end up looking similar because some of the preset eye shapes just don’t look good. They also went with a slightly cartoony graphical approach this time around, so some of the eyes and irises look a bit big on the character. Still though, I’m happy with what they’ve accomplished despite the limitations they had to work with.

I hope there’s clothes I wanted to used for my characters in the full game

I hope the possible sequel would refine and build upon this system.

the thing i don’t like is that you can’t overwrite a save on one character, so if u change something it’ll save into another slot and you gotta delete the old slot character to make space for a new character idk if that’s gonna be in the final release but i hope not because i hate to keep doing that every time i wanna make an adjustment on just one character or have it autosave or something dude, and i hate how some of tattoos clip into the player, we need more individual piercings too like sr2 like what if i wanted my character to have a septum and two nose studs or two eyebrows pierced on each side

My biggest issue is that the mouth doesn't seem to have the symmetry editor. The only preset mouth that fits for my situation is crooked by default, and it would be nice to realign it with a symmetry editor like you can with eyes. To add to that, I also hate the lack of sliders. It takes me way longer to make characters now because the limitations cause me to spend MORE time than previous SRs trying to figure out how to actually make someone look like themselves, such as celebrities.

I would find it odd that there's so many jackets because of the whole desert setting but it gets very cold at night so. That solved that

Any suggestions what is pre-order bonus saints criminal custom? It's only coming with gold edition and I don't know what does that mean. Like more clothes or weapons available from start or something

I still can't believe they added so many bogus customizations. They still can't add a booty slide that's crazy!

When i first heard of the new game, i was thinking that Volition needed to create a complete masterpiece in order to win back their dwindling fanbase. They needed to very carefully and very cleverly play every single step of it's development, marketing and eventual release as if it were an elaborate and intricate chess game, especially since they're quite noticeably in very dire straits following AOM's lacklustre reception and subsequent Volition employee layoffs, they NEEDED this game to be a masterpiece. But after the atrociously received first trailer, one of the devs insulting everyone who didn't like it by calling them "Haters", and now the substandard Character Customizer, i've got to admit, i think they've made waaaaaay too many missteps. I'll still be buying it, full price, because no matter where it goes or how lacklustre it is, the Saints Row series has a special place in my heart, and it's clear that most of these missteps are born from desperation or their poor financial situation more than anything else. In fact, i'm starting to think that this game is another Saints Row IV, which, IIRC, they basically admitted was just a rushed product designed to make money. Maybe, since they are in serious trouble, they only made this game to recoup their losses from AOM. Maybe, if i give them the money they need, the next one could be at least up to the standard of Saints Row 1 (2006).

Volition doesn't need to make a masterpiece. What Volition needs to do is create a game that appeals to the modern player. Saints Row has been dead for over 8 years now. Most of the old fans have other priorities in life. I mean I was in College when Saints Row IV was released. Now I have a job and so much competing for my time. I am not their core demographic which sits fine by me. Agents of Mayhem failed because of its stupid marketing campaign. Most people thought it was yet another online hero shooter, which Overwatch was currently dominating. No one wanted another Overwatch so they didn't give the game a second glance. They should have lead with a gameplay trailer to explain the premise however, all gameplay was shown behind closed curtains at events. Also my God are people soft these days. I miss the days where developers would openly mock nerds that get overly emotional over nonsense like the 'Haters gonna Hate' comment on the official Saints Row Twitter. I mean, the comment was literally in the same spirit as the prior titles. Confidence sells me on something more than pathetic pandering. I like how rather than sticking Jonny Gat frontline and centre to sell the game, they were just like 'This is what we want to do. If you don't like it then fuck you!'

If they wanted to make a game to appeals "modern players" (kids basically) they just needed to create a new entry and not calling it "Saints Row", this game named as "Saints Row" is still an insult to the Saints Row series in my opinion, if this game was not called "Saints Row" nobody would have cared about it ! @@robertbarrass9176 Well, yeah, you could make the argument that the "Haters gonna hate" comment part was just their classic brand of cheeky confidence, but realistically, as it stands, it wasn't confidence, it was weakness, it was Volition severely misreading the room, and being bitter about the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the first trailer and lashing out at every and all critics, critics who, after years and years of Volition utterly mutilating this franchise with really foolish and reckless decisions, at least in their eyes, are really worried that this game is yet another foolish and reckless decision. BTW, i should point out that i'm saying this as someone who, no joke, utterly adores SRIV, despite it's glaring issues. There was a period before it's release where i legitimately could not go a day without obsessing over it's impending release, and even to this day, it holds a very special place in my heart. But even i can acknowledge and recognize that for as much as i love it, it's still one of the worst cases of franchise assassination i think i've ever seen in a game, maybe in general. And then GOOH comes along and makes it even worse and now everyone is sick of Volition dragging one of their favourite franchises through the dirt. So when the trailer for the new game comes out, and old school fans start to think that this is just another dumb game that tramples all over their love for the franchise, that fear and anger, and, if you like, borderline PTSD, crops back up, so this is when a studio who actually knows what the fuck they're doing would step in, treat it with the seriousness it deserves, not be reckless, juvenile and petty, and expertly dissuades any and all fears, so all the critics can resume looking forward to this game. But instead, no, Volition, in their infinite wisdom, decided to insult each and every one of them, which makes the situation a whole lot worse, and pisses everyone off even more. If people are angry or scared in any given situation, the worst thing you can possibly do is crack a very awkward, insensitive, tasteless joke, especially if it's at the expense of the people who are angry or scared. I mean, if they had to do that "Haters gonna hate" cheeky confidence thing, they could have done it *AFTER* they'd weeded out all the people with genuine concerns, and got them back on board, because then all that'd be left would be those outrage merchant wankers who are never satisfied because they're just looking for any bullshit excuse to put the word "Woke" in the thumbnail of their latest video for clicks. You can safely insult them because they were never fans to begin with. But the thing is, i'm not saying all of this to shit on Volition, i'm just worried for them because when AOM flopped, it doesn't matter the reason why it flopped, Volition found themselves in a very bad place. All of those resulting layoffs seem to have kneecapped them something stupid, and I don't know if i'm reading too much into this, but there's lots of little details that I've noticed concerning this game that just scream they're working on a tighter budget, so they desperately need this game to work. This is their last chance. They've made some really bad decisions over the years, and they've very clearly all come back to bite the studio on the arse. After the reception Volition is getting, for any reason, i'm just mentally preparing myself for the day when i hear the new game has failed, and Volition is now defunct. Even if it's undeserved, and the new game turns out to be an underrated masterpiece that admittedly made some really bad decisions, I can't help but feel like this could be the end.

@@ATLAS-cy4xi True, but if this is what we're getting in the demo, it seems first impressions are mixed at best. You'd think they be more robust in their presentation of a game they want us to buy.

I’m impressed for the most part (other than some glitches). - custom colors are a GREAT addition - layers coming back are great. Some items it could be done better, though. Like dress shirts, ties, and vests being tied together on some items isn’t cool. - presets could be better or a bit more…generic? I like that they have personality of their own but I think most presets should be more basic, to be used as building blocks. - three hair colors is pretty great, same with being able to wear long hair with a hat - I love some of the deeper facial customization like teeth customization, but I do wish there was more sliders like in previous games. - I wish the voice selection and emotes had more voice lines to give us a better idea of each voice. - I am extremely excited to see what we can do for vehicles and guns

I feel like this game as a whole will be better than sr3 and worst than sr2

I find it a lot more difficult to recreate real people with the new customization options. As a test, I made Ryan Reynolds in both SRTTRemastered and SR Boss Factory, and in the latter it looks nothing like him. They got rid of some options like changing the temples, which can drastically change the shape of the players head. They also nerfed changes in width and height because Ryan has close eyebrows/ a thin nose. You can’t get the brows close enough, and his nose is still too wide. That being said, I love the symmetry feature and the new body hair options; if they didn’t mess with the preexisting features, these additions could’ve helped to allow for some pretty accurate pop culture recreations.

I tried to make myself and ended up looking like JFK, it has a lil bit of a learning curve lmao

I felt decently satisfied with the customization, but the hairstyles and gestures were pretty lame. I felt I had to settle on both. It's 2022 and I still can't have mid-length curly hair in a video game, even one touting how diverse your options are.

Hope volition does watch this and consider the criticism

Can you re-create Johnny Gat in Boss Factory?, Cuz I view him as the Posterboy of the Franchise.

I'm pretty certain the reboot is still using the Saints Row 3/4 engine, unless anyone can shed some light on this?

everyone keeps praising sr2 customization, but from what I remember the clothing was freaking awful there was no options.. the game was great the customization was not.

What are you talking about "No options?" SR2 had the ability to roll up one or both trouser sleeves, wear your hats at lots of different angles and in some cases tipped forward or backward, you could have your shirt tucked in or out, buttoned up or open, have your jacket open or closed, you had layered clothing, you could choose individual rings and decide what fingers you wanted it on, you could customize not just the colours of each individual article of clothing, but you could also choose which parts were coloured which, and in some cases, you could choose which pattern it was, and you could choose the colour of the pattern. I think, until The Sims 3 came out, it was the most in-depth customization system we'd ever seen in a game yet. I'll grant you, it's a little less impressive by todays standards, but, doesn't that really just emphasise my point? If you can't beat a customization system from nearly 15 years ago, you're doing something wrong.

@@BG4life13 Hey, i'm not disagreeing that SR2 had the weakest line-up in terms of how many clothing items you could choose from, but i'm just saying, it's the best in the series when compared to what you could do with those clothing items, especially in terms of how downgraded SRTT and IV was. PS, add to that line up of customization features the ability to add various logos and colour them.

I'm getting Sims 4 flashbacks. When Sims 4 came out it had some good ideas mixed with some really bad and BAD ideas and the worst was black skin. And now after so many updates, EA filly fix a lot of the problems and brought backsliders and unlocked all-gender options in Sims 4, but still no customizing tattoos.

I think it's really good but it does need to be more similar to saints row 2

One thing I really liked about the customization is that female clothing don't feel that sexualized. In SR:TT & SR IV, for "male" clothing you had really good choices but for the "female" only made your character look pretty sexualized. Female clothing in the new SR looks really cool and fashion! Nice!

I love the cost of Boss Factory a lot more than the previous games however I do love the fact that you mentioned stuff that they could have added in the game but probably couldn't because of issues I'll get these guys have benefit of the doubt that they did their best and hopefully they'll add more when the game comes out I'm giving this one at 9 out at 10

Judging by how muddy it can get with SR3's customization (the remaster), I think I'll also give them benefit of the doubt. However my main concern is bugs. I can live with lacking customization if it's not up to what they promised us, but a buggy mess would definitely kill it. I might consider getting this game day one just because I want to contribute to this game's success if it gets it. Cuz if this is a flop, it may be it for Volition.

They are trying to appeal to a broader audience with this game. I'm skeptical

It’s great but far from the best customization, yes it makes improvements from 3 and 4 but the face features were really downgraded (loved the face masks though) and the lack of gender choices seemed lazy though it is better then one where making a female was impossible

the main thing i was sad about there was no facial features like moles and freckles i know you can get freckles in the blush but but it’s not the same. i’m also hoping for more hairstyles in the main game because there is only one hair i like in the BF and it’s the retro pigtails. but i am very excited for this game to release in august!!!

I've had a fair few issues with the factory most of them are great and most are awfull and I can't even use or access the Browse or online selection!>->

The eye customisation is a problem. The eye width is wrong.

I loved this boss factory but the only thing is I can't save multiple characters because it wouldn't save as it will freeze when I try to save my second character.

I cannot even play it because I keepnin getting a error when I try to install the Epic Launcher for gours. This pesky thing needs to stop and they either gotta fix the installer or release the Steam Version. instead

The sharing feature is not "perfect" it's a broken mess. The filter/sort doesn't work and it refreshes all the time. Also there's no way to see lesser content. Even if you sort by least upvotes it still shows you the most popular ones.

Something everyone in this comment section seems to have missed, it explicitly states when you load it up that there will be more customisation content in the full release version. This is a preview. I don't know why everyone expects there to be an entire game's worth of content in what is basically just a customisation demo
