Thank you for seeing my point. Nothing in life is certain or goes the way we expect. knowing this and using that to your advantage is key.

STOP taking all these risks ! As a fellow sailor I too have run aground twice. Got caught in storms that weren’t suppose to happen and entered harbours at night and got away with it. After damaging my boat and adding 10 years to my life I’ve stopped taking risks. You have ran aground on a multitude of occasions, entered unknown harbours at night and ended up under a bridge with having your mast nearly being ripped off . Slow down. Take the safest route. Weather predictions or only that predictions and don’t move if your not sure what your route will bring. Stay alive! Enjoy the adventure.

Thanks for that. Ive been working hard and planning for the next big challenge which will start this December. Repairs to the boat launch and an epic journey into the bahamas and exhumas! I know that all this is frustrating... But... You are in Florida sailing! How many of us would love to be just spending time sailing in beautiful Florida waters. Love your videos. You’ve gained valuable experience in the last few episodes. Going into the Pacific is cool but I feel like we’d miss so much of the Caribbean, like the windward islands. I notice a lot of boats do the windward islands, ABCs and then Panama. You could probably take 10 years to see the Caribbean…unless you’re planning to circumnavigate. Cheers Captain

Its so true. Bahamas to Grenada is a huge vast distance basically the same distance I covered this season in 5 months. It could take years to sail the Caribbean. Most likely that is what I will do but I think it should be put to a vote by the people whatching this channel. Ive become very interested in using the energy that surrounds us out here. Wind tidal and solar. I want to be free from using fuel.

Another great episode! Go down to Panama! I just crewed on a boat down there for a month. Even if you stay in the Atlantic and circle back up north it's worth it.

You should call your channel “the neurotic sailor” 😂 (joking). You’re not in the Great Lakes no more.. Great videos, so entertaining, great editing and breathtaking vistas, keep going!!

I agree with Curtis & Hold Fast! You are taking too many unnecessary risks & shooting your own foot (i.e: Like wrecking the alternator by changing its settings & sailing to Key Largo for the Bahamas that nobody else does?) If your dinghy outboard ain't broke, don't take it apart & fix it. The possibility that water got in through the dipstick hole is very unlikely. Charge devices like cellphones directly from the battery. Not in a roundabout way by using an inverter. Keep things simple & you will have less problems.

Great video! Is the Canadian Coast Guard just as responsive as the U.S.?

Not really. The USCG is better funded. But I feel just as safe in Canada. It really depends where you are in Canada as well. 90% of Canada is wilderness so its hard fot them to cover all of it..

Wouldn't it be prudent to possibly buddy boat over with someone who has some experience crossing? Not criticizing by no means but you have made this way harder than it really is. I do enjoy how you have calmly handled some really BAD situations.

I agree Michael has made super minor things a major deal,but I keep watch with one eye covered 🥴It’s always interesting to see how he decides to move foward,looks like this episode he actually listened to advice to sail due east.how Do I know??? Because the morning Sun was on his bow all through the first half of this episode.I anxious to see Michael anchor in shallow unprotected water not an anchorage 😊but I love sailing EV😍

being alone aboard, not exactly sure what could come your way next you reassure yourself everything is alright, were good, going to be ok, add lack of restfull sleep for days youve got to solo sail unknown distant destinations to own this

Yes I have back up paper charts but have never used them. My garmin chart plotter has been great!

Hello Capt. Mike. What charts were you using for Biscayne bay? I have run a 7 ft draft boat out of Angelfish creek and Adam's key creek without issue. I always pass out on a high tide and have not bumped yet. I think both of these passes were a little farther south than you were. But you have figured out what works for you. Keep having fun.

Im using a 2022 version of garmin charts. I know the sands shift quite a bit here. I eventually make it back to Bahamas tho and that was the point. At keast I can say Ive done Biscayne bay..

Yea. That is the same as me. I surprised that you did not see the other passes but as you said Bahamas was the goal and that is what you did so all is good.

if i were sailing a 6foot draft into personaly unknown harborage i would be nervous as a cat, nothing more stressfull as fear of going aground

Ive been talking to KZread about this. I dont want there to be any comercials. Im going to try and figure this out. For now consider paying the teŋ bucks a month so you wont have any advertisments. If your like me and watch KZread all day long its worth it. In the mean time I will try to make it so there is no comercials. Its Google who pits them on there not KZread. The reason the power boats in Miami show no courtesy is the people are mostly from Cuba and do not respect the laws or the American way of life with their cultural attitudes. To live in Miami you neèd to conform to their Latin culture, speak Spanish and disregard the laws of this country. My opinion; not all the residents are bad but just go to Miami and see a third world country with no resemblance to most American cities. Just watch channels like Miami Boat Ramps or Boat Zone.

Thats quite an opinion and I agree with some of it. I really like the latin culture. The young wealthy people out here are living in excess and that is a sign of a strong economy. I think in the future people will move away from burning so much gas and diesel.. I hope so anyway. I want to be free from fossil fuels and fully off grid and powered by the sun and tide.. and the wind.

There is a Latin saying that they like Miami because it is so close to the United States. Curiously in Ft Lauderdale just 25 mi. north I noticed not much Latin American influence.

@@sailingEV888 Lol I have to say I've been super impressed at the lack of "eh" I've heard on all these videos. On that note, I'm seeing they have various Timmies (Hortons for the Americans) in NYC. Would be a fitting pit stop if you plan to sail EV back this season.
