Safe loading of a Fuel Tanker (Greenergy)

Ғылым және технология

A fuel tanker typically carries 36,000 - 40,000 litres of fuel, taking around 18 minutes to load. This video gives you an introduction on how Greenergy drivers load a fuel tanker safely. Filmed by maniac Films at the Greenergy fuel depot in Plymouth in December 2016.

    If the UK government can link a few more brain cells together then they should recognise these drivers and also goods vehicle drivers deserve way more respect, support and pay than they are currently offered. They are providing the lifeline for our economy and the last 2 weeks have demonstrated their importance. Attractive incentives need to be put in place immediately for these guys and prospective drivers, for starters better pay and a significant tax relief on their earnings would be a good thing.

    How is the air removed from the top part of each compartment? We have Auto Air realise valves in heating Boilers ? Being a bottom loader ???

  • @spazysmalls

    @spazysmalls

    Жыл бұрын

    There is a pipe that you cant see that connects all of the compartments. There are valves that open and close in each compartment that connects the piping. This means that when you open the valves, the vapor can move freely as liquid fills. When you close the valves, the liquid is obviously contained. The valves are placed higher than the compartments capacity. You cant overfill because the top overfill sensor should stop the loading rack from continuing to pump fuel into the trailer. If somehow there is a failure and you do overfill, you can drain the vapor lines with a bucket or a fee buckets, but by then, you would be dealing with a bigger issue as fuel would probably eventually burst out if the top of the trailer from over filling. Hope that helped you fully understand

    I used to drive a bottom loader mid 90s, what's that get the first arm full flow before connecting second arm?

  • @Str8dropped

    @Str8dropped

    Жыл бұрын

    He was saying to allow the first arm to reach "high flow" when you first hook up a load arm and hit start on the computer the first 50 to 70 gallons go through "low flow " then it kicks up to high. It's basically just making sure the additive and ethanol blend properly with the gas and you don't get any alarms. Here in the states we usually do two at a time to start as long as it's the same product.

    When I try and attach the static ground cable to the truck, do you have to turn it to lock it in somehow? I've had trouble turning the coupler part even though i'm flush on.Should I be pushing in and then turning it slightly at the same time?

    Sometimes they do get sticky there is a small cut out in the female socket and a male lug that fits into it, twist to the right and wiggle it as you push, also make sure the terminals are cleaned with a rag or you won’t get a good Earth on the Scully lead and socket. 👍

    Maybe the inspection should be down 1st, before you pull into the rack for loading not last. Checking for hot tires and such. Don't want to pull in and blow up due to vapors in the air.
