We didn’t fully realize how much Buck had become a part of our lives. With tears streaming down our faces we offer our condolences to you all. He is majestically running full steam in Heaven right now.

I have watched this video like 5 times already today and I become emotional every time. I have had the privilege to see Buck before because Mr. Gordon allowed my dad and I to take a tour around his farm near Father's Day weekend of 2022. I have also been able to see Buck pull at horse pulls.

I am so sorry that you lost your good, faithful horse, Buck. Colic is so horrible, I hate it when one of horses would get colic. The two times I had that happen we were able to get mineral oil down them and they started to pass manure and it worked out well those times. But having to say goodbye is so hard because we love and appreciate them so much. I have had to make that hard decision and it is always with many tears and a heavy, heavy heart.

As a horse lover, sounds like vet came too late. I question if everything that could be done was done. This video bothers me, seems you were concerned over burying him. Wish more could have been done to save him!! When horses work hard for humans they deserve the very best of care! ❤So sad
Watched with silent tears. So sad to hear this news, Buck was my favourite. You gave him a good life with you, he always looked happy and content. Thinking of you guys. RIP Buck ❤

What a lovely tribute to Buck He was a very steady companion, friend and co-worker. Wise beyond his years. Great teacher for the youngster too. RIP Buck,
I'm so sorry Jim and Brenda. He was a good boy. My condolences, he will be missed by all 💚
I am so sorry Buck had to go through this and am so thankful you and the vet were there to help him through his suffering. He will be missed.
So very sorry for the loss of Buck. You definitely made the right choice by putting him down even though it was a very hard choice. Rest In Peace Buck.
My heart sincerely goes out to you, Jim, Brenda, and family with this heartbreaking loss. Buck was such a beautiful, gentle, yet very strong and hardworking horse. His intelligence in following commands truly was amazing. You gave him a wonderful life, and he gave his all to you as his thank you in return. My thoughts, condolences, and deepest sympathies go out to your dear family.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of Buck's passing; colic can sneak up on any horse, even in the best of health and with the best of care. He lived a long life and was well cared for and well loved; such a lucky fella and such a blessing to your family. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Deepest sympathy to Brenda and Jim. May the grand old fella Buck rest in peace.
I know y'all will miss Buck badly everyday! I'm sure everybody on this channel is going to miss him right along with you, I know I am! Y'all stay safe!
Jim and Brenda I am so so sorry to hear about Buck. He was so faithful and easy with the other horses. Grateful for all he gave to you.

Losing a friend, even though it's an animal, is always tough. Thank you for allowing us in your lives and may God Bless You.
We are so sorry for your loss Jim and Brenda. Both my dad and I are sitting here with tears streaming down our faces. As we are new at this, we haven't yet experienced a loss of a horse - but are dreading the day that will come. Your loss today is made all the more painful by the fact my 15-month old German Shepherd puppy Harley died suddenly yesterday...they say it happens in threes - we recently had to put down our oldest sow Lilly, then Harley and now Buck. No, he wasn't ours, but it feels like he was as we've shared your journey over the past few years. This is the side of farming so few really know about - it comes with the territory, but when we lose one of our companions/ work partners, especially suddenly, it really leaves a big hole. May Buck rest in peace and may you both find some solace and comfort.
How very blessed you were to have had Buck. Tears flow for you. May the wonderful memories you made together help you through the grieving. Run Free Buck
Dear Jim and Brenda, so sorry to hear about the loss of Buck. I am sitting here crying and in disbelief. You guys are part of our family and we look forward to your videos. We so enjoy watching the horses working with Jim. Sometimes we don't realize how wonderful animals are and how much joy they bring to our lives. Please accept our condolences on the passing of dear Buck. We will never forget him.RIP dear Buck ❤️
I had a very old (vet aged her at at least 42) Thoroughbred mare that I rescued many many years ago. Bucks greying face always reminded me of my Maple lady. She was not depended on like your horses are for your livelihood, but I can empathize with you on the extreme pain on the loss of your dear gentle giant Buck. I’m so very sorry. I’m also so glad that he had a magnificent home for all the years you had him; and that your vet was there and released him from his pain. So glad I have one of your calendars. The tears are watering my face as this horse lover will be mourning your loss. Maybe my old lady Maple and your handsome Buck are great friends now telling each other of the loving last owners they had. God Bless.
We get attached to our animals in a special way, but I really appreciate Brenda's comment about hugging the horses our animals in our lives, but our family and people in our lives even more. She has a great grasp on the difference in animals and people. Being raised around a farm teaches you to appreciate them both

I agree. I was stepped on my foot (im fine) by my mare and I was floored to see her get agitated until I was in front of her, and she hugged me. It`s as if she knew I was fragile and that her 2200lbs weight could have done serious damage. They are truely a gift

@@jennifermoore6434 happened to me,slipped under my horse and immediatly had the idea to let her go to not hurt her. By the time I hit the ground she had already moved her rear end so I wouldnt be under and her rear hooves didnt hit me. She was waiting when I got back up. Could have ended in the hospital and it would have been my fault. But my mare was quick to tell I was falling and took action to save my stupid ass. Be wary of ice patches!
Buck was a fine, strong horse. Colic coming on so fast and hard really left you no option other than ending his suffering. A horse you worked with for so long and so well helped mold you into the horseman you came to be. They truly are our workmates. I know Buck will be missed. Memories and recollections will come to mind for years to come and often so unexpectedly. Good horses really imprint on us as much as we on them. I think Buck will be front and center as a standard that all future horses will be measured against. Definitely a high bar. My condolences to you all and thank you for the closing pictures & video clips. Buck was "a good'un"
My dad stayed up all night with his horse, my mom was cooking up mash in the kitchen. I remember the intensity of it all. I'm so sorry to hear about Bucks passing. Thank you so much for showing pictures of of Buck. I love horses. Buck was a beautiful horse, so handsome. Buck definitely enjoying working. You can see the love and respect the horses have for Jim. Buck was magnificent !

Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today? And how is things going with you and your family???
This a great tribute to a great animal , we watch daily & didn’t realize how fond of you folks & your animals we have become , our thoughts are with you guys, god bless you and Godspeed to Buck
Having grown up on a farm myself, I understand that type of loss. However, losing an animal that you have such close interactions with, takes it to a different level. You guys are a cut above the rest for tastefully sharing this with your subscribers. On a bright note, it looks as though you have three in the bullpen that might just fill his shoes. Mike from Iowa
I’m so sorry for your loss 😢. It’s not easy losing a valuable work/ companion/friend so unexpectedly . Brenda, my heart ❤️ goes out to you being a mom that you are. Buck was just saying it’s OK Mom. Thank you for sharing such a private moment and details. He knows he was loved but it still isn’t easy to say goodbye to him. 🙏🥰
I am so sorry Jim and Brenda. R.I.P. Buck, you will be missed by a lot of friends and family. I started crying when his pictures and videos started.

So sorry to hear of Buck’s passing, I’m sure over his 22 years he lived a full life that any horse would have been happy to live. He will be remembered fondly by all that have witnessed his time with you folks.
After the lump in my throat went away ...... now I'm thinking of Jim's wisdom in the investment in Barron and the colts , and Brenda's wise council to love now and don't wait. You two have made an impact into thousands of lives. Thank you.
I’m sorry for your loss. My mare went in exactly the same way. It is truly a shocking and sudden event with little time for goodbye but in the end you were able to make his passing easier and it was your last act of kindness to him.
So very sad to receive the news of Buck's passing. It seems to me that seeing an animal having to be put down, is so much harder, as they don't understand what is happening. He had a good life, at least for the last 12 years, as he had people around him that cared. My condolences to you both, Jim & Brenda.
You made the right decision. As hard as it was, he didn’t suffer any longer than necessary. RIP Buck. 😢
So very sorry for your loss of a fine old friend and work partner. The sooner the end comes the less misery for Buck. Long days ahead with many changes to be made. He was such a fine looking fellow and mellow in how he worked with and related to all. I've always been partial to black horses and dogs so Buck was a star to me. He had something few horses do-- a life of interesting days and great company from his fellow horses and the family who took such good care of him. Without the friends and the care he never would have lived and worked to 22 years. You did good for him---always.
Buck had a very unique personality for a draft horse and had a good productive life.
So sorry for your loss. I, but I think we all, appreciate that you tell us this sad news in this honest and direct way. And what a warm tribute you honored him with! Of course I'll give a hug to my horses right away. But I also sends a warm hug to you, Brenda and Jim, from a cold Sweden

To our dear You Tube friends, Jim and Brenda, Our hearts are broken for the loss of a Magnificent horse, Buck. You have shared all of your animals with us here on You Tube and have given us so many pleasurable moments and we truly understand how hard it must have been to share this tragic loss with us. Grace and I have many dogs, cats and even pigeons that we care for and know how hard it is to lose one. Thank you for all of the wonderful videos of Buck and his comrades here on your channel. We are saddened and our hearts go out to the two of you and may God give you peace and direction. Rest in Peace Mr. Buck.
It hard to believe that Buck is gone, he will rest in peace now. Gazing in the green pastures of heaven. My deepest of sympathies to you Jim and Brenda. Prayers going your way.
We are so sorry for your loss, Jim and Brenda. Buck will surely be missed by all your KZread Friends. We really enjoyed watching him these last few years. You really had a beautiful team. We send you and your family our thoughts and prayers.
There aren’t many draft horses with such a big following ! The two of you have done a wonderful job, inviting us into your lives, and we clearly enjoy working right alongside you and your great team of horses. Buck will be missed, but thank you for sharing his final journey with us. This, too, was appreciated and the very kind and thoughtful manner with which you dealt with his colic was a lesson for many. A very difficult decision, but the right one. Sending healing thoughts your way.
I am deeply sorry for your loss of Buck...As having worked with horses myself, I have enjoyed watching your channel "Working Horses with Jim" and I will continue to do so.. Just from watching your videos, I can see the immense love that You. Brenda and your daughters have for all of the animals on your farm and especially for your horses.. Buck will be tremendously missed, rest in peace Buck!!
So sorry to hear about Buck's passing. We will miss seeing him in your videos. Sending hugs and prayers for your family. With love, Melanie and Ken
Buck the blooming flower has returned to the earth. Thank you lord for the memories. Take care guys ❤🐴
It's always sad when we lose our four-legged friends. Since I joined your channel about a year ago, I've always enjoyed the videos featuring the Percherons as it's a breed I knew so little about and have learned so much from you. I'm so sorry about Buck, Jim & Ms. Brenda. My heart is saddened. 😭
We will all remember Buck, he was a great part of the team, he will be missed.
RIP Buck. I’ve always thought that farmers appreciate the smallest of life’s blessings so much because we see the heartache so closely from time to time.
Such sad news.... I always enjoyed watching him work. He always seemed calm and a force of peace and tranquility. Will miss him
RIP Buck. My toddler son and I watch every video. He has a sled that I pull him in through the snow and he’s got pretend reins and he calls me Buck and tells me to “step” when he wants me to start moving. You’ve put lots of smiles on this soon to be 3 year olds face. With this weird winter we haven’t been able to come up for a sleigh ride, but we will one day. Thanks Buck, rest easy. Praying for you all.
Very very sad for your loss. He will always be remembered. My favorite video is the Christmas sleigh rides with Ken and Buck . Beautiful horses, with the girls singing made my Christmas. Tell Brenda I don't have any Horses but I kiss my 3 cats every night. Animals are family too. God bless Buck and your family.
Very sad news. Thank you for letting us know Buck's last moments of his life. He will be missed by all of us.

So sorry about Buck. He seemed like such a majestic soul. ❤️
My condolences to your loss. He was more than just a draft horse, he was an important member of your farm. That was the most compassionate thing we can do for our animals by helping the cross over in a humane way.
I am so sorry for your loss of Buck. He was such a beautiful, sweet and hardworking horse. RIP Buck.
I’m so so sorry y’all. I’ve lost horses before and it’s so hard to deal with. I’m glad he had a long and useful life. It’s obvious he was well treated and well loved. Consider yourselves blessed to have had him just as he was blessed to have you. Take care. My prayers are with you
Tears are flowing as I watch this video. This makes my heart hurt. Watching your videos over the past couple years makes me feel like I know your herd personally. I will be hugging my own horse extra tight. Thoughts to you all. I’m sure the rest of the horses will be missing him. Especially Ken.
Mr. Jim, & Ms. Brenda so so sorry for your lost. I love your horse/ family member Buck. Our fur babies many almost as much to us as two legged babies. So sad for your loss. Buck was a wonderful horse for you folks. 😥 You are such wonderful people, and the Lord will provide.
Sorry for the loss. Most colic cases I have known about occurred out of the clear blue sky. Buck was a member of your family and will be missed.
The loss of any family member is so hard. Rest in peace Buck. You're in our thoughts and prayers.
so very sad your great loss, you are in my prayers. Buck will be missed by all of us.
Wishing you the very best Jim and Brenda. Brenda you are right on, hug every one around you because you never know what tomorrow will bring. If you need a break from videos we will all understand and will be here when you come back. Hugs to you two also.
Buck was my favorite of your horses. Knowing when it was time to let him go shows your love for your animals. Watching regulary shows the wonderful care you and Brenda give them. RIP BUCK!!
I'm so sorry for your loss, he will be missed. Not many horses get the same honor, to be loved by so many. 💔

I never met Buck, but it felt like I knew him through your videos. I am so sorry to hear this news. Thank you for sharing him with all of us. Praying for you all! 🙏🏻
How lonely the world would be without these peaceful animals in our lives.
I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️ he was a tremendous horse and such a pleasure to see in harness in the beautiful woods he got to work in
When watching one of the videos last week, we were talking here about the way that we appreciate Brenda's acknowledgement of the horses upon arrival at the woods. That they are valued creatures with whom you (both) have positive engagement was clear.
Thanks for sharing this difficult event with us - I am going to go out and give my 22 year old a good rub and hug right now - these horses are a big part of our lives.
I cried along with this video. Buck was a kind fellow. Letting the young lady harness him and learn how to give wormer, teaching the younger horses the ropes. I’m going to miss him a great deal, he was a very special horse. I’m glad he was able to live his best life at your farm. How are the other horses handling his loss?
RIP Buck you have been a blessing to your family and will be remembered. My prayers are with you both.
I’m so sorry, he will be missed in more ways than one. He truly was a sweetheart. I wish there was a true and sure cure for colic. It just was his time to go. Blessings to you all. ❤

I’m so sorry to hear of his passing! I am sure that his time in heaven is well deserved! I hope that you all have many fond memories of him!
We laugh and cry with you RIP Buck breaks my heart My condolences to Jim and Brenda
Awe 😪 So sorry for the loss of Buck. He was such a beautiful horse and looked like a true assett to the family. I'm glad you made the decision to put him out of his misery in the end, it's never easy to make those decisions but just shows how much you care for your horses to not let them suffer. I hope all goes well with Bill and Ken. I hope they turn out to be a GREAT team for you!
Dear friends, from Spain I am very sorry for what happened to Buck. Receive my deepest condolences. A big hug for the whole family.
We are so sorry for your loss of Buck. He was a member of your family and will be deeply missed, just like any other.
So so sorry for you all, my heart goes out to you. No words can soften your feelings for the friend you've lost. Thank you Jim and Brenda for letting us know so soon after. Its always a hard decision to make at the time but the best for Buck.
Jim, Brenda and girls - sincere condolences on your loss of Buck. I'm sure this video was tough for you to make but know that we appreciate knowing what happened and also the tribute to him. So glad your vet was able to come and assist you in his care and that you were able to bury him on your property where he had spent his last very happy and well cared for 12 years. As we know here in Eastern Ontario, it is a real concern when you have large animals that die or need to be put down during the winter when the ground is frozen. So glad that wasn't the case for you.

I have seen in another channel where when a cow died it is buried above ground. I think it is covered with manure and straw. Works really well but if an animal is medically euthanized I don’t know if you can. Buck will be missed. You gave him a great life. Putting an animal down is never easy.
So saddened to hear about your loss, we will miss him, but all of us farmers know we usually outlive our animals. I remember when our last team died in the hay field. Three days apart they were in their thirties. Made my grandfather tear up.
