A WILD RIDE WITH BILL!!!!! 😳😱 // Jim's Idea of "Fun on the Farm"
Today Jim is headed out for a wild ride with Bill!! Bill, one of our Belgian horses, has a lot of energy so Jim heads out with the stone boat to get out some of his energy! Whipping around on the stone boat is Jim's idea of "fun on the farm". :) We also start work on fixing up a one horse sleigh for exercising one horse and we reminisce about a sleigh we used to have with a wood stove inside!

He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

He definitely had a wild ride. Looks fun except when Bill started going to fast.
Dashing through the snow, in a one horse flat stone boat O'er the fields you flew, shouting "Gee and Haw" all the way... No bells on bob tails rang, but you made Bill's spirit bright What fun you gave to all who watched, we swear it was our delight.......

Jim I would patronize you if you would ever talk friendly like to your horse while they are working when you stop for a break - talk to your horse for Gods sake -? And while you are taking the tack off the horse, tell him he did a good job - you are such a jerk - very little talk to your wife either - you don’t deserve a horse or your wife! Ugh who would want to spend any time with you especially you horses / I’ve mentioned this to you before quite a while ago and I see you are still a dud . Find something to get happy about when with your wonderful horses ! You are B o r I n g to watch ! From Georgia 🍑
Had a great time with this one. Watching Bill lean into those curves was quite a thrill. Did something I've never done before, went back and watched it again right away! lol

I remember going to school in a slay in the winter and we had big rocks to keep us worm in Saskatchewan when I started school around 1946 and we had a horse barn at school for the horses
Nice Jim, this is truly one of the joys of keeping horses. The partnership, trust and Fun. Looks like Bill needed to get out of the house.
Pretty impressive how well behaved manners he listens to you better than my kids did to me when they were little lol enjoy your videos immensely
what a beautiful powerful animal ,way to go bill
Bill really enjoys a good workout, I am impressed by how fast he is, looks like great fun
Thank you for letting us ride along with you, keep it up.
Bill is feeling his oats today! 😍
Jim, this is a hoot to watch, loved it !!!! We rescued a sled dog that retired; he was the wheel dog, the muscles that got the weight of the sled moving so the team could get going. He kept growing & got to 120 lbs trim. The owner put him in weight pull competition; a true working dog. So when we rescued him from his retirement we learned how to hook up his harness to a rimless tire to walk him; to slow him down. One day a young teen age boy wanted Kanook to pull his soap box derby type car his dad had built, kid said," Can he pull me in this"? My husband said, "Can you hold on"? " Sure I can". Kanook was eager for the excitement but something on wheels was just too easy; our subdivision was shaped on a 2 mile circle. The last thing we heard was a boy screaming in fear as Kanook rounded the corner & the kids car bounced over the curbs for the mile or so. It was hilarious, the kid remained upright & in the seat but was bugged eyed in fear !!! Never asked again for a ride. Kanook had a huge smile, still ready to go again!!! Your ride here reminded me of it, except you're standing up ? Good job & good set of muscles there guy!!!

Yes, speaking of a sleigh with (caboose) on it as we called it and a little wood stove in it, that was our only means of travel in the winter when I was growing up in the late 50' and early 60's. Our roads weren't snowplowed in the winter back then as they are now so we had to travel with horses all winter. Wish I had a picture of our caboose , but don't think I have one. Oh, and by the way, I grew up way north in Saskatchewan, Canada where our winters are obviously a lot longer than where you live. Enjoy your videos.

The sounds of a house in "rythyme" is just warming to the ears!! Love it, thanks for sharing!
Yee haw!!! If anyone else was doing that with this set up, I’d be cringing. But Jim knows what he is doing and knows how to handle it. He’s an expert!!
Oh my goodness! That looks like so much fun! 😃. Bill’s little ears were straight up. Hahaha. Can’t wait to see the sled when you’re done. I agree, it is a cute Christmas sleigh.
This Jim Gordon doesn't need a Batman he's got six beautiful horses that do his bidding with just a wink an a nod and a whisper to them as fast as bill took him on this wild Ride so much fun was had by all including the viewers what a hoot
Looks like Bill is training for the Kentucky Derby 😳. Pulling a stone boat on snow that fast shows just how good Jim is at working horses 🐎. Thanks 😊 .
Boy he's beautiful when he runs.
Fun to watch but hard to figure out who had more fun! Thanks for sharing kids lol.
Bill is quite energetic, he is quick enough to give your neighbor's buggy horse quite a trotter race. Dog sleds don't use shafts either but the driver's position allows for a foot operated, spring loaded, brake with a claw, to grab the packed snow.
Now that looks like a fun farm job.
Nice to see pictures of years ago.I think the world would be better if we went back a 100 years.

Lol Jim you have to have Springs in your legs to keep from being bounced off the sled but Bill sure did have fun and got some exercise at the same time !
That looks like a blast. 😁
YeeHaw! That was Awesome! Drone shots would of been bonus!
Bill certainly feels good
Wow! that was fun! like few others I thought for sure you were going to nail that fence on that one turn. It is nice to see a horse so well trained to all your voice commands. I've notice that now for allmost a year now of watching your videos. if not longer. All your horses listen good. and the other thing I've noticed is Jim allmost never raises his voice. he is normally soft spoken and they listen good. Good thing Bill is not hard of hearing ha ha. or Jim would still be out there going round in circles NOT! thanks again for a really enjoyable run I liked that. and am sure a lot of other people did too. and great on the little sleigh can't wait to see what you build and when its' done. thanks so much for sharing. God Bless. ECF

Yes , I don't know how he dodged that fence post but that was a smooth move.. ah ha, wow, loogout.
I'm 86 now, and I recall riding in one of the "school bus sleighs" as winter transport to go shopping n Saturday evenings, In those days, we called such a sleigh a caboose. Ours had a small charcoal stove to keep warm on those cold Saskatchewan winters. Thanks for the memories! Love your show!
! How exciting for you and Bill - you're a great team.
LOL! Jim, we grew up on two different ends of the country, but if we had been neighbors, we'd a had a lot of fun. That little romp with Bill looked like a kick. I was never put off by a little bit of danger. We used to sled in the horse pasture below our house which had a barbed wire fence at the bottom. We used to get up near the fence and lay down to scoot underneath. No one ever got hurt but our moms were plenty peeved with us.

This exercise is for the benefit of the Bill first. He is an athlete. He needs to run. And if Jim is enjoying it, so much the better. Thank you Jim and your family. My dad would have liked these videos. He was where you are now in the twenties.
Your videos are the highlight of my day...I can relate to many of the things you do on the farm👋
Glad to see Jim having some fun. It was good for Bill also
I’m forever amazed by the strength of the these beautiful horses an your relationship partnership it’s a beautiful

Great video. Loved the old photos. Bill is gorgeous. Thanks.
Bill moved out so free and easy.. his gate is real smooth for such a big animal. I could see myself putting him under saddle and actually enjoying the ride. That doesn't happen often with draft horses. You guys always brighten my day thanks for the content.
Awesome video, reminds me of the sled dad build and had a pony to pull it. Lot of fun, good memories . God Bless

Holy smokes that looks so fun pulling kids on skis would be super fun
I learned something today. We are never too old to learn.
Wow, that was fun, but I fell off!!
That was a wild ride, Jim! Wow!!
COOL ride with JIM END BILL. 👍👍😁💪
Horse seemed to enjoy it
My hands got sweaty watching. Need a step on brake attached like they have on dog sleds. Lol. Great times with a well trained horse.
To cool thanks I think that's genius to do since people are making old buses into camper homes 👍
Omg jim that brings back memories of us boys hitching up dads horses to car hoods that we took of from cars, we used to race them around the field, that was to much fun, of course we didn’t tell dad about racing them till we got a little older lol nice video Jim happy holidays to you and your family

Wow ! Such an amazing horse, Bill, excellent puller, obedient, works great, he's most definatelly my favourite out of the 2 currently working pairs (others are also amazing and allround really great but he's just my favourite from videos). My neighbor had a (Serbian coldblood) draft stallion with similar karisma, I just loved taking him for a drive, both as a single and in pair with his workmate, he used them in pulling competitions 5 and 6 years old stallions at the time (1650lbs and 1700 lbs), such graceful, powerful horses. All the best to you !
That looked like Bill was having a good time giving you an exciting ride, stay safe, and thank you all for the enjoyable entertainment.

Hi John ! Hope you and Jane are doing well!
We used to take a ride in my uncle's "Caboose". Where the name originated is anyone's guess, but, in Canada, we called the last car on steam trains a Caboose. The sleigh used the frontbob of a large bobsled to carry the whole upper cabin, with space for about 6 adults. The units were also used as school busses, but, rarely. Most farmers who lived of their farms all year had their own caboose. The stove was factory-made, and burned coal briquets or raw coal. I really enjoy your channel...of course, I've said that before.
I'm thinking Jim is an adrenaline junkie! LOL Loved the heated sleigh, must have been a blast!
An oldie but a goody. This 2 year old video was a fun pop up!
Great vlog. You work so hard, it’s nice to see you having fun.

Wow Jim That was a breath of fresh air watching the two of you out enjoying a run. Thanks for sharing
How wonderful!!
Dang you move right along on that magic carpet ride. Looked like you were going 20 mph at times as the fence posts go flying by, not only were you having fun but the horse seemed to be having a blast too. Great fun, I could see how that could be dangerous but on the farm your never far from danger. If you don't want to be around danger, don't be a farmer or a logger. Then , talking about danger , demolition, pulling the Ole slay apart. Sure liked those old "buses" with the wood stoves. Looked like good fun for all.. Thanks for sharing.
Jim is a daredevil! It totally looked fun , the wild ride with Bill and he really enjoyed it. Brenda you will have to paint your new old sled red for Christmas.

What an energetic Belgian !
Hey there Jim, I hope you're well. I had the ideal situation when I had horses, even though I had the roomiest and most comfortable stalls known to man and horse, my stalls opened up to a very nice 2 acre paddock, with nothing but regularly mowed grass, and I usually left their stall doors open, so they could come and go as they pleased. I soon learned that they preferred being outside, even when it was raining or snowing. They know more about what they like and dislike than we do. 🐎👍🇺🇸
I clearly heard Bill say, "What, done already?! I can go 2, 3, 10 more circuits!!!". Stove was cute and I'm sure fun but really glad you stopped using it. ☺️👍❤️
I just watched this again, and it's not hard to tell I got as much enjoyment out of watching it again this time as i did the first time. I love the heated sled and the kids roasting hot dogs etc. such memories. for all. All my kids are in their 50's now. (notice how we always still call them kids? ) they are allmost seniors and we still call them kids. anyway thanks again for some really heartfelt memories of our own as well as yours. God Speed.ECF
