@No Chance Without Pasta Its a shame - as the gun thing is very much out of control. I'm actually glad I don't have a gun, as I don't trust myself. There have been times in my life when i've been far removed from my rational best and have done something stupid. However, always walked away, a lesson often learned. The right to bear arms, is from a document written a very long time ago, it's not really appropriate today, as we live in a different world. Back in 1787 it was a different world, people treated medical conditions with Leeches! So, a different world and one not safe when so many have guns & so much anger and division - it really is trouble waiting to happen. All these horrible mass shootings. But it is a 'genie out of the bottle situation' - I don't think there is a way of taking all guns off people - fewer guns and machine guns/automatics would be a start. But as we know any idiot can pull a trigger and even those not idiots at the wrong time do stupid things. Myself included. We can only live in hope that a calmer / kinder president in the future will do the same for his people - calm them and bring together - not have everyone attack each other. I wish the best for our American friends in the next week.

If I had to guess why our country is addicted to violence, it's because we've never seen the horrors of war closer than on the television screen. That was enough to prompt protests against the war in Vietnam, which gives me hope. Still, we've got a lot of work to do when it comes to owning up to our mistakes

Besides his 2 oldest sons and the majority of his voters, not many have an IQ lower than Dumpy... who are not either in school boards or in some kind of closed facilities, like mental institutions and/or maximum secure prisons! I knew the most stupid people in the USA were/are extremely stupid, but I never knew there were SO many of them before 2016. THAT truly scared most of the world, I'll dare to say! Thankfully only half of the population vote, which means, more than 75 % of the US could be a lot smarter than Trump and we know lots of them are He'.. of a lot smarter! (y) I'm beginning to think the USA might have a future after all! .... but I'm scared of what Dumpy and his gun-loving haters will do to harm the USA and the world before they are thrown to prison or better, forced to attend 1.-5. grade fact-based education before they are allowed out to the streets, being parents and as a minimum; allowed to vote again!!

@Anton Chigurh "Democracy Matters" is the point he's trying to make. And that it's being taken away from you piece by piece while you're fed pretty little lies and giant ugly hatred by the very people who claim to be defending it from attack by "Them". The faceless, undefined, enemy that wants to take away all your rights and dictate your lives. Which is, of course, just a classic Magician's misdirection. "Look over there". The last century, awful as it was, really happened. And it's all happening again, and it's time to remember what "We Must Never Forget" actually means. Because it's not about Right and Left anymore. It's about Democracy and Totalitarianism. Freedom and self determination - our way of life in the Free World - versus the oppression and misery of Authoritarianism. I lived in China for five years. I know exactly what he's talking about. So much of what I see now in the Trump (and the Johnson) Administration is the exact same tactics I saw in China. Many of them applied far better than the Chinese do. And it scares the living hell out of me. Because in China I always knew I could go home. I always knew that if it ever got too close to me that I could book a flight and return to the Free World within about 12 hours notice. I kept 2k in a bank account and never touched it for that exact reason. No matter what I knew that would get me to safety. Nowhere to run this time, though.

@Oliver Matthews If there are idiots in Baltimore, Chinatown, the Jewish/Irish/Italian/Arab/Mexican neighbourhoods, by all means go out and make fun of them. Stupidity is basically non-racist for it hits us all in equal proportions. Being African American or whatever does not provide a pardon for being ridiculed, not by any stretch of the imagination. Some may think it is, suffering from the 'I-am-beyond-criticism-syndrome' but that's even more ridiculous. As soon as people think no one is allowed to make fun over their stupidity, that's when we are near total collapse of sanity. Mockery keeps us honest, modest and smart.

@Oliver Matthews the problem is... their way of life is revolting and should be dismantled... white supremacists... are not a religious group... they are not a race... what they are is just a gang of people who share the same beliefs... not in god or humanity... but in themselves... and that because of who they are... they are above everyone else... when the end goal of the group you belong to is to put down everyone around you... to subjugate them and bend them to your will... to even kill them... then maybe you deserve to be gangbanged by the people you're trying to step on... and just like you say... you feel bad for the racists and supremacists being made fun of... I think more people feel worse for everyone else... because if white supremacists or their kind were in control now... they wouldnt just be making fun of everyone else... or teasing them... or name calling... no it would be much worse than that... and I'm not just saying white supremacy is the issue... there's many groups just like them... but its somewhere to start

I, a very tall Black man was standing at the front of the crowd with my girlfriend at the time, a short blond-haired white girl who was sitting on my shoulders, so needless to say we stood out. As the event starts, Sacha comes out to greet the crowd in character, as Bruno and he immediately makes a beeline for my g/f and I and yells at me, “Look AT THE SEXY BLACK MAN!!! The fact that a crowd of people who had previously been been enjoying an event decide to storm the stage once they figure out they're being pranked, with one person apparently even going for a gun, is genuinely depressing. Though at the same time it's also kinda funny in a dark way that these are some of the same people who always ridicule people for "getting triggered" over something like this. Must be a bit surreal to be a walking cliché. Much respect to Sacha for putting himself out there like this for the sake of comedy.

"once they figure out they're being pranked" Did they figure out that there was something wrong with the message, or did they merely receive information about the identity of the person who was singing the message? There seems to be something deeper than ideology involved: individual reactions aren't adapted to the existence of photography. The old idea of two people bearing witness as direct eyewitnesses of one consequential action that they can remember directly, without assistance of any kind, is often not what is happening. There are conspiracies (e.g. Enron seems to have been a fly-by-night enterprise). Awareness of being observed and recorded by others would normally evoke an attempt at self-examination from the point of view of those others. If somebody is concerned that the outside observer's point of view could be a distorted image that makes that somebody appear to be evil, then the desire to disrupt the transmission of the distorted image would be legitimate, and the question would be what methods are both acceptable and feasible. A new commandment: "You shall not consent to participate in the transmission of misrepresentations against anybody." The knee jerk reaction of reaching for a violent, criminal method is the problem.

@@waddellkate101 My first impression is that all three of the following are pejorative: (1) "snowflakes" (2) "libtards" (3) "right wing nuts". As for style of communication, as in the sentence fragment "are the first to call people snowflakes or libtards", I think that we're talking about such large numbers of people that each group will include some people who routinely and habitually refer to others using pejorative labels, and will also include people who rarely criticize messengers and instead focus on policies and messages. People face real problems, and I don't understand why anybody would begin by hoping for all components of feasible and functional solutions to come from one political tribe, if there are only two major political tribes of roughly the same size.
