8:03 Here White has a forced mate in 7, but that is too weak and too slow for Fischer. So instead he chooses the line that forces his opponent to resign in 3.

3:00 - Actually, the Rauser variation against the Dragon Sicilian (9.O-O-O) was recommended in many recent grandmaster-level repertoire books, like Modernized: the Open Sicilian and the second edition of Dismantling the Sicilian. It is also the main line at the top level.

You should do Santa Monica 1966. It was there that Larsen played his two favorite games, both against Petrosian. and where Fischer had his brilliant second half, beating Najdorf, Portisch, Reshevsky , Ivkov, Donner and Larsen, and drawing only against, Unzicker, Petrosian, and Spassky.

As a sidenote, it's worth mentioning that Dragon Sicilian proved to be a decisive weapon for Kasparov in his match with Anand, in 1995. Those two wins with black ultimately broke Anand's resistance. Obviously, he wasn't prepared for that variation at all.

The life and games of Mikhail Tal, page 104, about the Portoroz Interzonal 1958: "Great interest was also roused by the debut in the international arena of the youthful (15 years old) Robert Fischer. [...] He was often asked to give interviews and everyone was startled by the fact that Fischer, answering the question quite freely, said that on the whole he would have expected to take first place, but that this would be difficult, since first place could be taken by Bronstein. As far as I am aware, this is the first and the last time that Fischer voluntarily put someone else ahead of himself. However, Fischer had no doubt at all that he would finish in the first six. "But how will you do this", correspondents asked him. "Very simple. I reckon that I have to find five opponents against whom I can win. This means that I will win five games, and drew the rest", Fischer replied. "And suppose you lose to someone?" "That's nothing to worry about; them I will have to win six games". An incredible book, Tal was really a literature man and the book looks like a novel. Thanks Agadmator for brought me here!

A line that Fischer fails to mention is after Rxh5, instead of taking immediately black can play Bxd4, qxd4 and only then play gxh5. After g6, Fischer gives the move Qe5…but doesn’t mention Rc4, closing down the bishops diagonal and offering material back.

@agadmator I am from India. State - Kerala. Your hard core fan and of chess. Please help us. KeralaNeedsYourSupport #StandWithKerala #KeralaFloods As you may know, Kerala, a state in India, is going through the worst time of its history. We are exposed to tumultuous and disastrous flooding which have destroyed both our life and living. All the rivers, streams and lakes are overflowing throughout the states due to heavy rainfall. The shutter of all the dams have been opened and the water rush have washed away the towns and villages on it's flood path. The situation is much more frightening than we can explain. Over 1.5 lakh people are in rehabilitation camps. Even hospitals are under water. The count of the lives that we have lost and people missing are still not confirmed yet. The roads, bridges and homes damaged are beyond repair. Rivers have been spilling over and the hills are crashing down in landslides to thickly-populated settlements. Our government and rescue bodies are doing commendable work for saving each and every life, but are facing severe shortage of funds and resources. This has affected the efficiency of the rescue efforts, which also contribute to the increasing death toll. It is estimated unofficially that the cost of disaster can be up to 100 billion INR, which seems to be a huge fund for our small state. So hereby we are requesting your kind donation and aid towards relief fund of the state.Your valuable donations will grossly help us to ease our efforts for relief, re-habitilationand re-building. Unlike donations to national organizations that can take months to begin distributing funds, your support to us will have an immediate and substantial impact in our state. With your help,we can feed families who have lost everything in the aftermath of the flood, give them a warm place to stay and help rebuild the landmarks that make our Kerala such an amazing place to lives. So we kindly request you to join our effort to reclaim and rebuild our state . Any amount you decide to donate will be very much appreciated and will make a huge difference in the lives of our neighbors whose lives have been upended. Together, we can restore the place that we all know and love. We love you and we expect your kind effort towards this natural calamity. Sorry agadmator it's 11:30 PM in my country. So I couldn't see the video😉. But i saw it in my dream & I didn't recognise the person in the photo. But finally I can say my dream came true. Bent Larsen vs Bobby Fischer from 1958. I swear I didn't see the video 😜🤣

How do you feel about doing all the games from Fischer's 60 memorables? Not in a row, of course, but your channes has such high output that you could do it in a couple of years without sacrificing the other games you want to show.

Larsen had great hair for a while there lol Oh and also... I think that's Jen Shahade and she's here in STL right now. Not sure if she's a resident at the StlCC&SC or just there for commentating.

6:13 why not taking the pawn with knight instead of moving the rook??

If you take on h5 with the knight instead of Rc8 then you lose the "dragon" bishop. You can take back with that same knight but then Qh6 should be winning. If the black king takes back the bishop on g7 it's not much better either.

Well, Larsen could force a draw-line but instead he preferred to choose a losing one :) still interesting game, even for 1265+ players
