Your question about the hair care is funny, because a lot of metal guys didnt take care about their hair. They let them growing and the most of them use normal shampos. Its a traditional thing in the metal scene. Punks have Mohawks and Metalheads have long hair, it was a symbol of status and stand for the difference between goth, punks and metalheads, every side had their own hairstyle. But yes... there a lot of little male princess under metalheads XD To getting bald is the dead for some of them XD

Saw some Polish flags there in the audience. Sabaton did an epic song about the battle of Vienna in i think 1483 when a huge army of Ottomans lay siege to Vienna and the HRE emperor called upon its princes and allies to relieve them. They gathered their men and marched for Vienna. The Polish army consisted of mainly cavalry and arguably the best of their time at the end of cavalry charges being relevant. The Winged Hussars charged down the mountain side and defeated the Ottoman army in spectacular way. If the Ottomans had taken Vienna, the road towards the north and west of Europa for expansion would have been open. The Polish of that era saved the rest of Europe from muslim invasion and yes there are many heroic tales regarding the Polish. Sabaton is the band to underscore every single event in history that can be classified as heroic and i bet the Polish in the crowd love them for just that.

And hopefully more understanding for some polish irritability on some topics. This Uprising took about 230000 civil victims bombed, raped, murdered, burned, slayed, buried alive, executed by Germans (with some help of Ukrainian Kossak, Russian, Lithuanian and Azer units - mostly volunteer bandits). So please, understand when we sometimes get nervous about the history 🤷♂

Sabaton are the cool history teachers you had in school if they started a band.
One of my favorite things about Sabaton is how massive their audiences are in Europe but when they come to the US they’re totally cool playing in clubs for a few hundred people. They really do love their fans.
This drummer is Robban Back, who replaced Daniel Mullback. He was only with the band for like a year and then left because of having a newborn. Their current drummer is Floor Jansen’s husband, and he’s a lot of fun to watch as well. Also, one of the guitarists in this video was later replaced by Tommy Johannson, who is also the lead singer of Majestica and a really good singer. You should check them out.

Fun fact--Joakim started as just the keyboard player in the band when it was first formed, and they decided to have him do vocals while they searched for an actual trained vocalist. So he was just a happy accident lol. He has such a distinctive wonderful deep voice, I'm really glad they kept him and eventually transitioned to more focus on the vocals than keyboard. If you want to read more about the historical context for this song, check out a book called Rising '44. It's about the Warsaw Uprising, and there's one moment that always stuck out to me in which the son of the Polish Premier or some such political figure was fighting on a corner against the Nazis as they believed the Allies were approaching. The kid's dad had specifically placed him in that location. When things started getting bad, this fellow soldiers and heroes said they needed to go. Then, this teenage kid said "that's not why my father put me here." He was later burned by a German flame thrower. The heroism has moved me to tears on more than one occasion.

I would so recomend the live version with them of "En livstid i krig"/"A life time of war". Choose the Swedish version and have the captions turned on. The song is released in both English and Swedish versions BUT there is a major difference. Both are about the 30-years war. The Swedish version is from the perpective of a single soldier where the english version focused more on the war itself. Joakims singing qualitys and baritone really comes inte play...AND if you like crowds singing it back, The Swedes are singing the majority of the first verse agfter Joakim has just sung the opening line.

He was never able to return, dying before the collapse of communism. I was able to visit in 1992, and tried to find my family. For the "crime" of fighting in 1939, helping local Jews flee and fighting in the resistance, they had been sent to the camps. As far as I can find out, none came out. Keep it strong. Yepp. Listen to Sabatons Swedish songs and you'll notice he does not roll the R's as heavy when singing in swedish.
You should see the live version of Attack of Dead Men, I mean he preforms it in a gas mask!
I would also recomend that you listen to Sabaton's "Carolus Rex", in Swedish with captions on if you can 🙂

WARSZAWO WALCZ ! On August 1, we are celebrating the 77th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising in Poland. And so I found your reaction, an excellent reaction to the touching concert of SABATON! Greetings from Poland:)
We need the Winged Hussars to arrive.
Come watch the charismatic voice, where we talk about optimal hairstyle, best hair for headbanging, and the inherent danger of fire around such things.

So many excellent Sabaton songs to recommend. Carolus Rex, To Hell and Back, Shiroyama, Winged Hussars. That last one is probably gonna get the most suggestions.
Sabaton are a Swedish Metal Band that goes around the world, learning every countries' history and make a song about them
I've seen them up close several times. His voice is INCREDIBLY relaxed. He has no tension as the show goes on, and his speaking voice is just as delightful.
Sabaton also has an history channel, where they explain the story behind their songs.

Amount of people gathered on this concert who share love for their homeland reminds me of Croatia and Thompson who also sings songs about love for his country. Peace 🙂
I would absolutely love to see you analyze their song 40:1 from the same set at the same festival. You can almost feel the patriotic pride of the Polish crowd when Joachim bears the Polish flag on stage.
As a person of Polish heritage this song has always been very special to me ever since I started listening to Sabaton.
Not sure if this was already recommended but seeing as you've now heard Sabton and Van Canto, now you have more background to check out Sabton AND Van Canto doing "Primo Victoria". Considering Van Cantos acapella sound you hear Joakim's voice quite clearly and it's just a great blend.
Instant headbanging makes blood circulation flow well around hair cuticles and gives +200 to grow speed and fire nearby gives +100 to shine.

I'm going to recommend another song of theirs, En Livstid I Krig from the Great Tour. The song is subbed in English too, which is handy as they're singing in their native Swedish.
You absolutely need to watch "En livstid i krig", which means "a lifetime of war" live in Gothenburg, Sweden. Nothing compares to it when it comes to Sabaton! I would love to see your reaction and analysis to that!
One thing I would like to add that's quite impressive on Joachim's part is that in the last bit of chorus, which is in Polish ("Warszawo, walcz!"), he's gotten the phonemes for "sz" (/ʂ/) and "cz" (/t͡ʂ/) perfectly. From my experience, no one outside of Poland gets these right (which is understandable, it takes a LOT of niche experience to differentiate /d͡ʐ/, /ʂ/, /t͡ʂ/, and /ʐ/, as almost no languages ever make use of them), and it's almost always mispronounced as /ɕ/ or /t͡ɕ/; to have someone entirely non-Slavic nail it down is as rare as it is appreciated. :)
If you want to hear Joakim better, and like to react to a song that's all about true GIRL POWER, then please listen to "Night Witches" (animated version)...

They were headlining Wacken in 2019, where they played BOTH big stages at the same time with their old and new lineup. It was legendary! 🤩
@joshuaswanson1977
3 жыл бұрын
I saw that. Kind of reminiscent of Helloween at Wacken in 2018, except Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske are band members again, recording new material. 1 band with 3 singers, whereas Sabaton basically had 2 full bands playing at the same time with just one singer. Both were epic performances in their own right.
You can’t argue that energy man! Sabaton is one of the best live bands on the scene rn
Nothing like hearing over half a million people sing your lyrics with you. That's powerful.
Just a little note: The drummer in this live version is Robban Back, Mullback was a former drummer, and, funny enough, their current drummer is Hannes, Floor Jansen's husband.
Sabaton is a very special band. All their songs are about significant historical events. And their music videos are always incredibly creative depictions of those events.
Sabaton is a unique band with a special connection to the crowd. I remember seeing them in Download Festival Paris under buckets of rain. For a lot of bands that day people were watching from afar under the drinking tents but for Sabaton everybody was hooked up to the stage. Tech crew was mopping the stage, Joakim had to change his mic 3 times but the energy everybody was sharing hold the band and public together in a way I didn't felt anywhere else, not even at a Rammstein show. I have chills thinking back about it. And I'm glad to see that kind of reactions about Joakim's voice because he worked a lot on it : he wasn't supposed to be the singer at first and only sung on the first drafts and finally stick to that role and worked on it to be better. I think that's awesome.
As a pole i gotta say you brought a tears of joy here, kudos!
I have seen Sabaton live a few times and they are some of the nicest musicians I have ever met. They are always smiling and so appreciative of their fans.
You're right. "Warszawo walcz!" means "Warsaw fight" in polish lenguage. When I heard this song on the radio for the first time i got simmilar impression. "Wait! was it a polish phrase in the lyrics?". Then I searched for it on YT and that's how I became Sabaton fan :D Greetings from Poland!!! Watching your content always cheers me up

The rolling R's is from his native Swedish. Listen to any of the Swedish songs and you will still hear it. And the song is about real life event like every other sabaton song
