@@Trevor21230 better late than never, but the Yogcast version is not the original. There is a great short documentary about it, but Diggy Diggy hole started as a dumb minecraft joke years ago. Not even a song, just some dude on a server singing I am a dwarf and im digging a hole. That got turned into minecraft songs (as in, the sound bit was remixed into full songs) to later get turned into the clean version we know from Yogscast

This was awesome! Very truly Tolkienian Dwarf. They took themselves and their culture very seriously and really didn't much like they way the merry Elves made fun of them for being so serious about things the Elves found strange or ridiculous. I can just imagine these guys listening to The Hobbit and suddenly saying, "Huh. The Dwarves were very musical in exile. What kind of songs do you think the Dwarves sang while shaping Khazad-dum? Let's write something!" Beautifully done in every aspect!

It's an awesome cover and Windrose just know how to have fun. That, for me, is half of what metal is. Yes, there's a more martial feel to it, the call and response isn't particularly uncommon but often well done. For more metal that truly, truly embraces fun you should have a look at Nanowar of Steel. Pretty much anything is great, as an introduction if you haven't already heard of them Norwegian Reggaeton and Valhallelujah but everything they've done is epic and so much fun!

I think that both the original and this song for different things.

This is the musical expression of the dwarf zeitgeist. This music should be piping through the steam pipes in every Dwemer city in Skyrim. Another song that I think does this encapsulation of the spirit of a myth is Atlantis, by Donovan. There's a wistfulness threaded through the grandeur that foreshadows disaster to come. It's not even a very serious song, but it's so effective.

Wind Rose is one of my favorites! They were the band that first got me into metal, with this song, as a matter of fact. But as fun as this one might be, they have some pretty epic tracks as well, including "Wintersaga," "King Under the Mountain," "Returning Race" (more of a Progressive sound to this one), and their recent "Gates of Ekrund." FORGED IN FIRE: Didn't that show feature Ilya Alekseyev of the channel That Works? I watch That Works all the time, along with Kyle Royer Knives. If you like Forged in Fire, you really should check these channels out as well. Kyle makes some GORGEOUS weapons.
