========= Light in the Black LYRICS ==========
Sent into battle to aid strangers in need
Gain independence, our forces will lead
Final solution when all others have failed
Liberation is coming our path has been laid
We remember the fields, where our tanks held the line
We remember our brothers in arms
When the war, has been won
And our march home begins
What awaits has not yet been revealed
What was won? What was lost?
Will our deeds be remembered?
Are they written on stone or in sand?
Marching ashore, our target awaits
Facing resistance, forces driven by hate
Protecting civilians, while fired upon
Rules of engagement, our restrictions are gone
We remember the sea, where our ships broke the waves
We remember our brothers in arms
Leaving home, set to sea
Was this really meant to be?
See the shores of our homes fade away
Facing blood, facing pain
Have our brothers died in vain?
Many lives has been lost on the way

in my opinion the song reminds me more of every ending of a conflict/war, that line of ''will our deeds be remembered'' i'd say yes when it comes to people who have seen the deeds they will respond and remember, the good ones will be taught to the younger generation as in ''remember what this person/persons/country's army did which saved us from (insert reason)'' the bad ones will be shown to as many as possible to teach people not to behave as such in conflict/war or to prevent such behavior from happening again.

Considering how dangerous Stalin was when it was formed after ww2 ( tens of millions killed before ww2 by his apparatus) many thought it was the only way to check him. The free french signed a treaty of friendship with Stalin in 45 which looked a lot like German Soviet friendship pact where they invaded Poland together. The UN has devolved into committees having meetings to argue about rather they meet again to schedule meetings about problems. Now that veto is used to keep anything from happening, it's all redtape and toothless.

Yup, CANBAT in Bosnia is what you get when you make soldiers take orders from politicians. For those unaware, the Canadian Battalion in Bosnia had to push up all requests to conduct operations to the government and house of commons to get approval to move. It earned the name Can't Bat because they never got approval back fast enought to move, if they even got it at all.

@@paulwalker242 Yes but it's not the politicians on the front line making the life or death decisions. That's what I meant. Respect the men and women who willingly go and put themselves in harms way to keep others safe. Not the weak minded politicians who dither about while innocents suffer

A reminder that the UN Peacekeeping missions have worked as intended at least noticably better than a pure coin toss (About 66% success rate). They deserve the criticism they get for their blunders, the higher ups almost always more so than others, but at least there are people trying. Anyone who willingly walks into an active warzone and at least *tries* to help the innocent *despite* all the restrictions placed upon them deserves nothing but the utmost respect. You are good people, and I'm sorry for those who's leaders have failed them like that. You deserve better.

Love this song, sabaton just never misses 👍 Also i'm pleased to see this is about UN troops, we tend to forgot that they are fighting too and aren't only "upgraded" NGOs. One of the most outstanding events about UN peacekeepers in my opinion is the Vrbanja bridge battle, of the Bosnian war. They fought with f*ing BAYONETS only 30 years ago as if they were still in WW1 ! I think it is the last recorded bayonet charge in the world, tho with trenches making a comeback recently this may have changed ...

Its for the entire amount of missions the UN have done. But I would love to hear a song about the mission in Congo in the 60's since my dad was one of the swedes in the blue helmets. After what I have understood it was one of the most violent missions in the history of the UN.
