======== En Livstid I Krig LYRICS =======
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Gick ut i strid för Sverige, blev döpt i blod
Där ute väntar döden, inte hjältemod
I fält där fränder faller, hörs ingen sång
Utmanar våra öden, ännu en gång
Långt hemifrån
Döpas och dö i strid
Och världen brann
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Och när min tid har runnit ut
Vem bryr sig då?
De kämpar på
Får en soldat ett värdig sl@t?
Få somna in
Försvinna bort
Och aldrig vakna
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?

there are two versions of the song,.. a swedish and an english version, but both have different lyrics. It's really saddening that nobody remembers the Thirty Years War, the conflict the song is about. It killed somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the ENTIRE population of the Holy Roman Empire. More people died in it than the Napoleonic Wars, and in proportional terms it was one of the most devastating wars in world history

In a way yes, though "A lifetime of war/En livstid i krig" is about grow up, live and die in a time of war is a bit different from most wars as this war lasted 30 years which is very long for a single war.

  • @99Knytes

@@SayaViking for the story/history behind it, true enough. But in a broader sense, the two versions represent society in general, I think, no matter the date. Most people are always looking at the big picture in a given war; the battles, the tactics, the overall costs...which is A Lifetime of War. But very few, if any, look at the soldier as an individual...that is what En Livstid i Krig is shining a light on.

I look around and I see my home fade away My time at home now feels far too short Just a youth, barely a man when duty called me If i get to see my home again, that I do not know Amongst friends from my village, I went out to figtht And the world burned For war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who will mourn me? So see me as A husband, a friend Father and son who never comes home But who will miss me? Went to fight for Sweden, was baptized in blood Out there where death awaits, not heroism In fields where kinsmen fall no song is heard Challenging our destiny one more time Far from home Baptized and die in battle And the world burned For war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who will mourn me? So see me as A husband, a friend Father and son who never comes home But who will miss me? And when my time runs out Who cares then? They fight on Does a soldier get a worhty end? To fall asleep Pass away And never wake up For war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who will mourn me? Lights are constant, it just happened by accident for the camera to change focus a few times kind of in sync with the mood of the song, so it looks like lights are interactive. When a camera goes out of focus, the more luminous elements are more pronounced than in focus.

En Livstid e Krig. The Swedish cover of A lifetime of war. The 30 years war to be exact during the 1600s when King Gustav Adolph of Sweden invaded Catholic states of the Holy Roman Empire when the HRE tried to mess with Protestants. Sadly Gustav was killed during battle by a gunshot wound I believe. I say sadly because him and Carolus Rex are two fascinating kings at the time.

If I interpret your light question correctly I am assuming you mean where it looks like the lights are changing brightness in unison? It's very subtle changes in the lighting on the crowd that gives it that appearance.

If you by "the lights" refer to them appearing to be flashing I bet it's due to automatic diaphragm/shutter settings in the camera. It's not uncommon phenomenon when you have the ceiling spotlights leaking into the lens.

You should have watched with captions... the lyrics are so powerful, this is a rough translation for it I look around me and see my home disappear My time at home now feels way to short Just a youth, not a man, still I get called to war If I get to see my home again, I don’t know Among friends from my village I went out to war The world was on fire Cause the war it can, destroy a man I give my life, for my motherland But who miss me? See me a it A husband, a friend Father and son, who never comes home But who mourns me? Deeeeep
