======== En Livstid I Krig LYRICS =======
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Gick ut i strid för Sverige, blev döpt i blod
Där ute väntar döden, inte hjältemod
I fält där fränder faller, hörs ingen sång
Utmanar våra öden, ännu en gång
Långt hemifrån
Döpas och dö i strid
Och världen brann
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Och när min tid har runnit ut
Vem bryr sig då?
De kämpar på
Får en soldat ett värdig slut?
Få somna in
Försvinna bort
Och aldrig vakna
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?

As a Kurd from Syria, I had to take up arms for my people when ISIS emerged. I was in YPG’s International Platoon due to my English skills and there was this guy from UK who volunteered to fight alongside us and came all the way from UK. By the time he arrived, I have already seen enough combat, lost enough friends and comrades. I couldn’t cry for a year, even when I lost my childhood friend to a SVBIED attack. When he arrived from UK and showed me this song I just couldn’t stop crying. I cried for hours because I realized what war has done to me. I was unable to feel any emotion. Music is god’s gift to humanity, it cures. War is hell.

This song is about the Thirty Years' War that dominated central Europe in the 17th century (1618-1648). To this day it is one of the longest and bloodiest wars in history, with the death toll falling between 4 million and 8 million. Many of the fatalities were not even from active warfare, but famine and disease also plagued the area, upping the casualties that much more. Casualties reached such a high number that many Swedish men were forced to fight when they had barely reached manhood, and sometimes even before then. Which really makes the title of the song ("A Lifetime of War" in English) hit a little harder. Men basically spent their entire lives at war, no chance for a peaceful life. The was about the battle between Catholics and Protestants, and at some point during the war almost every major player/Country in Europe was a part of it. This Swedish version of the song tells the story from a Swedish soldier's point of view. You should also check out the English version; it is not a direct translation from the Swedish, but it rather tells the story of the war from the perspective of the outside people, those not involved directly in the war but were affected by it. The lyrics hits hard, but it also shows that even when times change, new technology comes, one thing remains constant and that is the horrors of the war, both those who fall in it and those who survive and have to live with nightmare every day (ptsd). Greetings from Denmark.

One thing you will never get is a copyright claim by Nuclear Blast Records who are the label who produce Sabaton's albums or Sabaton themselves. They both are very much for people doing reaction videos to their music and in fact have approached other reaction/history based KZreadrs to actually make a video talking about a new video and the subject of said video they may be getting ready to release. Lets just say two of the channels I watch who both react to Sabatons music and one which is a history based channel actually got personal invites to be VIP's at Sabaton's concert in Ohio not long ago and did some videos of them at the concert. They very much love to see their fans enjoying their music and doing these reactions to it.

I was at that show. I'm seated to the right, in the middle from the top, Amazing show! Best live perfomance I've seen this millenum. Before the song started, Joakim told the crowd that: "No one carries a lighter anymore, but all of you have cellphones, so turn the flash on and wave it around." It was an amazing sight to see. And hearing everyone around you singing along to a song we all love. That is brotherhood at its finest

There is an older live video that I highly recommend... Uprising official live from Woodstock. A song about Polish resistance during WWII, performed with a choir of over 500.000 ppl.

This was one of the highlights of the show and the rest of it we just kept feeding off the energy and we sang our hearts out. If you want a great crowd experience. Sabaton Uprising at Woodstock 2012 live. If you though this crowd was great. Wait till you see hundreds of thousands of people who are genuinely grateful for what Sabaton has done for them. Those Poles, they really know how to have a good festival. There's also just about every song they did at that show. The crowd loved them and were in every song. You occasionally hear of great music legends who at their peek brought in 200k fans. But what about when a relatively new band brings in over half a million?

My father fought in Iraq, Bosnia, etc., and grandfather World War II, etc., who fought voluntarily for freedom in other countries all over the world. I was at this show (sitting somewhere in the middle of the platform to the left from this view of the stage) just before this clip started Joakim asked everyone to hold up their cellphones since no on carries around a lighter anymore. Needless to say, this was one hell of a show, sadly this was just before covid started canceling shows ( had for once tickets for 5 shows and 1 festival that year and this was the only one i got to attend)

You have just reached another level of Sabaton, the live performances are even better than the studio ones, at least for me. If you would like to see more insane crowds and Sabaton i would recommend you check out 40:1 live at Woodstock 2012, also Ghost Division live is one of their best songs in my opinion. Another very good song live is The price of a mile live at Wacken 2019, this one is really moving.
