When a man compares a Temple to Scottish Pub can think of his level of understanding ….he failed to understand that Keralite and Bengali is not same. The way they worship Druga is different the way Keralite worship. And Kerala is not Bengal. Bengali might worship together(Men and women) , but in Kerala they divided FEW temples for Women separate and men separate. You want everyone to think and act like Bengali is not possible dude.... People are more focused on Shabarimala because it became more famous over a period of time and not everyone is bothered other temples where men are not allowed. I am not sure why people are comparing with Satti. Satti is not part of South India.

Akash, Dessidre and the biased host, don’t bring your crude sense of feminism into every darn thing. I wish you had done some research on why these rituals are being followed. For God’s sake, this is not about menstruation or women being impure. The form of Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala is about an eternal brahmachaari wanting to follow a strict regimen of brahmacharya, and hence wanting to avoid women who have reproductive capabilities. Hence the age restriction between 10 and 50. A deity has its own set of rituals that it wants to be respected in its sanctum sanctorum. True devotees are those who respect those rituals and worship the deity. These so called feminists just hear misstated facts about women’s entry being denied, and jump to conclusions. There are hundreds of other Ayyappa temples where women of all ages are allowed. Why not go there! These ‘feminists’ won’t go there, because neither do they believe in the deity nor do they think they will get media attention by doing so. Bunch of arrogant pricks just trying to prove a point and hurt sentiments of millions of devotees, both men and women!

And the irony is that the "real" woman followers of sabarimala temple are perfectly fine with temple not letting them enter from age 10 - 50 because a real follower will respect the rules of temple and they are aware of the reason why they should not enter . When the real women followers of temple are fine with it then what problem do these feminists have. Bunch of idiot feminists activists with college degree but no knowledge.

Do me a favour. National Tv S should not discuss about this. Your panellist don't have any clue about sabarimala and they are treating this as a man Vs women issue. What a bunch of jokers. If you don't agree, below is actual evidence about real reason on why women aged 10 to 50 are not allowed. First I ask, how many of you been to sabarimala at least once in your life time? If it's zero, before your make a fool out of yourself, read this. Now here is the real reason for women aged 10 to 50 not allowed in sabarimala with evidence. Ayyappa is a diety, a person who actually existed. There is a difference between diety and god. He followed eternal celibacy which basically means he cannot be in touch with women or in their viscinity in that state. The diety in sabarimala is a prathishta in that eternal celibate state and that's the reason why women aged between 10 to 50 (Those outside can) are not allowed to visit him. Not menstruation. In all other Ayappa temples women are allowed as the deity in temples outside sabarimala are not in eternal celibate state. Those who are insisting that women should enter, think of this Eg. There is a purely vegetarian person who never had non veg in his life. Someone says that it's not correct and the veg person should have non veg and forces him to eat non veg. That's similar to (or worser) what is happening by forcing women to visit an individual in eternal celibate state. Now all these are the truth and these truth are actually followed by Every Ayappa devotee and here is the evidence. When a person decides to Visits Lord Ayappa at sabarimala, he starts a penance for 41 days during which he himselves have to live like Ayappa. Out of the many practices that need to be followed to live like Ayappa, one is that you have to be devoid of female sexual contact, both physical and mental. Physical means no sexual activity including masturbation and mental means that you shouldn't have any sexual thoughts. Basically you will live a celibate life like lord Ayyappa during the penance. This is a direct living evidence that the reason for non entry is not due to the menstrual period but due to his eternal celibacy state. Moreover, if menstruation was really the issue, women would have entered at all times at sabarimala except the menstrual period, just like how it is like in all other temples. These two facts are direct evidence for the fact that the entry ban for women from 10 to 50 is due to the eternal celibate state of the diety. If still in doubt ask any person who visited ayappa who took proper penance, what all he observed during these 41 days and he will talk about first point. Check yourself before making a fool out of yourself. Anyways, those who are trying to enter are just trying to make a point. So far no real devotees came forward and Every family who are Ayapa devotees in Kerala understand this. We wont let anyone discriminate against women. Kerala have more females per 1000 males than any other state in India. Female Birth Data talks a lot about attitude to women. The fact is that current govt changed affidavit against women entry by previous govt and filed new affidavit for their personal gain and are not in the side of devotees. Thus the supreme court order and all this mess.

Then why doesn't a man have the same right to go to the temple which don't allow men to enter in 2018 , since feminism is about equality. Let me tell you there are many temples not only in India or in Hindu religion but across the world which don't allow men to enter. If these women are real followers of the sabarimala temple then they would have respected temple laws. The guy with black t-shirt is comparing temples with old Scottish clubs , seriously then why aren't men allowed in women kitty party . About law, there are many laws in India which are wrong and gender discriminatery like dowry and rape law, anti - national law etc also, The Temple has the Constitutional Right to decide who are to be allowed and not allowed to visit the Temple. This is because the Temple is a private property owned by the Deity (Considered as a minor person) and managed by the committee (Guardian of the Minor). Thus the Temple has all the right constitutionally to deny entry to anyone . In Hindu religion there are many different gods unlike other religions and we worship them in different ways and there are different rules that are to be followed by the devotees. A Punjabi Hindu or a Bengali Hindu and a kerela Hindu might have different opinion on sabarimala issue because they might worship different gods in Hindu religion and would not be aware about the rules of sabarimala. Hindu religion is very complex to understand, that's why majority of people are not understanding the issue. That girl in blue dress used big words like faith, patriarchy blah blah, I didn't understand even one point what she was trying to say. Do correct me if I said something wrong or used wrong facts.

SHNKRDS there are no temple in India where men are legally banned. Arrest happens when something is done illegally. WHATS THE CRIME IN Sabrimala entry? When did praying or attempting to see a deity/god became a criminal activity and a civilian offense? Supreme court helped to resolve this dilemma of the ordinary citizen of the country. So essentially the court has well dissected the case by going deep into the belief system, various opinions, historical analysis how this belief came up and tested all those with our constitutional provisions to see whether it can be enforced or not. Fortunately, the court observed, these beliefs can’t be enforced as a law and hence removed it. It doesn’t mean the belief has got killed. Those ladies who still believe, it's not appropriate to visit the temple, they are free not to visit. No one is forcing others to go there. Rather removed the legal obstacle to go there. Now those who want to go there can go. Simple!

Why is Nambiar wasting his time with these pseudo-secularists who seem to be fully convinced that they are all-knowing and liberated? They have absolutely no feel for the Sabarimala issue, and cultural sensitivity to the diverse customs and traditions of India. They, nevertheless, want to pronounce their "verdicts" vociferously drowning any counter argument. Such dogmatic people are dangerous to the cultural integrity of India, because they want to impose traditions and sentiments of their state, e.g. West Bengal, on the people of other states, e.g. Kerala, that they have little cultural similarity with. This will result in tremendous resentment in the minds of the latter (Keralites). Keep in mind that the lone woman judge in the Sabarimala case, Hon. Indu Malhotra, was against the Supreme Court verdict. How do you reconcile this fact? Do you just discard her opinions, because the remaining four male judges had different ideas. Is it not a case of "majoritarianism" in the Supreme Court judgement? If this majoritarianism is acceptable, shouldn't you give weight to the majority opinion of Kerala (Indian) Hindus on this issue? Bottomline: True devotees of Ayyappa, like Nambiar, should abstain from participating in debates of biased channels such as this one.

there r 5 temples in India whch in men r not allowed,n 4 temples where women r not allowed, read books on sabrimala temples experience written by female authors only, there is ancient science behind how temples bulit, certain temples whch not allowed particular gender has an ancient science, study those books which r based on such temples not allowing men or women. Such petty issues became feminism, n actually issues like period leave policy importance, no law on marital rape, dowry, other such feminism issues get sidelined, those men who r not allowed to enter certain 5 temple should also go for gender discrimination?there is difference between mosque n temple, mosque is place of worship ,n temple in sanskrit means hosue of a deity, abrahamic relgion concept of monotheism is being very much different from this Indian mehula land. Even I used to think tht way about sabrimala n other religious places or concepts like aakash unless I came across sabrimala book, n studied concepts of abrahamic relgion There r 1000 of mosques whch dont allowe women to enter still ,y not that much effort for tht?women of that age not allowed as it can affect thier fertility.every relgion concept should be respected, whenever I want I can't go to mosque or church. To maintain secularism no need to go against concepts of religion. I m a north Indian, n proud of kerala 's matriarchy society, thy have highest literacy rate.

To Mr. Nambiar. Kerala is NOT a matriarchal society. It’s a Matrilineal society steeped in Patriarchy. Also, stating the fact that his name’s initial come from his mother is nothing to boast off. He was born to “ Nair” community , where traditionally woman followed “ Devadasi” custom and woman could have many relationships at the same time with men. It was easy to track kids using Mother’s name as opposed to Father’s name. There is no female empowerment in that custom.

dude read the survey report of Sabarimal done in 1800s the english surveyors clearly mentions that that women were not permitted and women never came to Sabarimala and this was also a proof that was submitted to the SC... But the judge who was on the cusp of retirement wanted to go off with a bang and came out with this verdict the only south indian and a malayalee on the panel of judges Mr. Kurian was removed too.... The result is there for all of us to see this issue has already made the temple trust lose crores and crores of rupees as fever devotees visited this time around and the riot, bandh and vandalism caused another few hundred crore loss to Kerala govt. lack of business to the vendors there have forced people to worry about repaying the loan, policemen spend days in the forest with little or no amenities etc.. the untold human suffering that the lack of farsightedness and ego of one powerful guy can cause this much is astounding.

My recommendation is that you use your time in a more fruitful manner, since you do not believe in the existence of a god, and therefore, by inference, the purpose of a Hindu temple.

The cultures of mosque, church and temple are different. You have to understand that. In fact in the middle east they say mosque is only a structure for them to go and pray and has no religious significance.. but in India and other countries mosques are built as an identity to their religion and link it to their faith. Temples in India are totally different, every temple is different and is built with a purpose. The rituals, traditions and practices are different in every temple. As such Sabarimala temple is a place where Swamy Ayyappa is in the form of a bramachari. The rituals and traditions of the temple are different.
