Yes, indeed, whatever did happen to the people we used to be? This series is sure a blast from our collective past. I'm an American of the same 'Baby Boom' generation as the two English gents in this sitcom. Although I have never seen this wonderful old show until now, I can identify with the 'Terry Collier' character as I joined the U.S. Army in '68 and was sent to Southeast Asia for my first tour in '69. We were all watching from afar on TV, radio, magazines, etc., as our culture changed drastically. From our viewpoint in Southeast Asia, it was like being on the sidelines in a football game as we helplessly witnessed the world go mad from afar. The Hippies and other counterculture groups were changing the rules, and we looked on powerless. Oh well, that was a long time ago. I'm surprised that this series only aired for one season, as the writing, acting, etc., all look to be outstanding. Gotta love the British sense of humor! *Cheers and Merry Christmas to all of my Boomer brothers and sisters!*

I'm a Brit in my 40s and I remember watching repeats of this sitcom when I was kid. I'm sure they made more than one season. Happy new year!

@@dorkarama3135 I did a search and discovered the following: 'Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?' which was broadcast between 9 January 1973 and 9 April 1974 on BBC1. Only one season, according to that. 😁A Belated Merry Christmas and upcoming Happy New Year! 🎄🎆

@@MrMenefrego1 You've just prompted a memory. I think the show I was thinking of was called 'The Likely Lads'. It was in black and white with the same actors playing the same characters only younger. I assume 'Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads' was a sequel sitcom to this earlier show. 'The Likely Lads' must have been about events before Terry entered the army. I didn't know the later show had a different name. The things you learn. Thanks!

There were 26 television episodes of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, over two series, and a subsequent 45-minute Christmas special was aired on 24 December 1974.

Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
