Thanks! Ya they all are built good. We never knock anyone’s ride, lots of work goes into these things even if they’re kept stock. Except the four wheeler at the end of the lower rock garden video backfiring was hilarious. Not making fun of it just was so funny to see a atv making all that ruckus lol. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! Amber came up with its looks and built most of it. Even welded some of it. I just fit it in and notch it and weld it. She pretty much does the rest. Thanks for watching!

We had a blast riding with the Crash City crew, I don't think one setup had a clear advantage over the other since all of them had gear reduction. If we had been riding with a machine without gear reduction you would have seen a big difference in performance. Thanks for the shout out and input. We had a blast too. Even with Sprinkles being bad! You’re right that the great equalizer was definitely the similar rate of the gear reductions. BUT I think the single unarguable advantage of portals is the extra ground clearance. We’ll have to be sure to do another ride sometime!

Another good video you guys are killing it. Where did the portal 1000 get his shock socks?

I just ordered a 22 pro xp, first SxS but Iv been around the buggy’s for the past few years. Anyways Iv seen some some people are having clutch issues, and the clutch exploding. I’m in Ohio so I’ll be riding all the big places around here, ky and Indiana. Do you think portals or gear reduction would help prevent a clutch failure? I do think the machine will benefit from either of them anyways, as I don’t really think it’s necessary to go 40mph in low.

SUPPOSEDLY the primary clutch exploding issue has been fixed but who knows for sure. I know we’ve not seen as many cases of them blown up lately. Riding in those areas gear reduction would do you good. In one form or the other. reduction takes Strain off the whole cvt system. Portals would take strain off the complete driveline but make your rzr very wide obviously. So both options take strain off the cvt system load wise but the clucthes are still going to spin the same rpm so take that into consideration. Congrats on the new ride!!!

It didn't look like it did any better of worse on those trails. Did you ever get a pic or clip of a width comparison? Great video. Im not as much on the fence about the performance more the not breaking axles vs breaking more steering components.

No it didn’t. Overall I’d say the advantages/disadvantages of both setups averaged out. With the exception of the added clearance. Even no portals on 35’s is still gonna beat on the steering system but more so with portals. We’re 68” wide. He was almost 80” wide with long travel suspension he said.

I’m at 18” on 35’s so he’s around 22”ish. His portals are a 4” lift.

I really want to run portals on my 2 door pro xp, I just feel like it’s going to be too tall for steep fast hill climbs. I always see 4 doors with portals and maybe there is a reason for that

But I’ve got 18 inches of ground clearance right now and I’m belly sliding up rutted out hills. Maybe if I run 4 inch portals, I can drop my preload and find a happy medium height

You’re on it with taking some preload out. Plus portals are 40lbs a piece I think so you’ll have some extra unsprung weight holding you down. 4 seat wheelbase would definitely be best application for them but the pro is almost as long as sprinkles and I think it may not hurt you as much as you think. But totally see your hesitation on a two seater.

Anyone know what that low rpm noise is like a whine in the white and blue 1000? Jw mine has the same noise.

It’s the secondary clutch whining. Typical on a 1k. It’s not hurting anything. Both my old 1k’s did it. There are some things you can do to quiet it down but isn’t really needed. Best mod you can do for the 1k clutches is to replace the square pucks in the secondary with round ones

4 seater is still oem turbo but do believe it’s got tore up on this trip. The buggy has the rs1 diff in it. No upgrades on it yet.

Personal opinion, portals are for mudding only. If you are a rock crawler type person or open dessert dune runner than I would stay clear. Just my opinion from what I’ve seen

We kinda agree with you. But we’ve seen some pretty good rigs running them in the rocks. We feel if you’re in the rocks with them the chances of something failing is increased with portals. Thanks for watching!
