First off great review completely honest second I wouldn't let the blade fly up like that always try and guide it back up slowly instead of letting the blade fly up to smack the stop they definitely should put something to slow that down on the next one..... third of all you should always let the blade stop before you let it come back up that keeps your cut accurate if you let that come back up while the blade is running you're going to get marks from the teeth of the blade and your cut will be a little off ..... still a great review keep up the good work

Just bought one today. My first ever sliding miter saw. Glad you gave it an ok review, as i had no idea which one to buy. I'm real excited. My projects should go a lot faster, and more straight lines than the old hand held. I was terrible with that thing. Thanks for posting

Slide your saw all the way forward and then tighten down the slider lock with the head all the way forward and that makes it much easier to transport. Ditch that stock blade to it's a POS, I went with a Diablo 50 tooth combination blade on mine and it works freakin great, cuts things like 2x4's as fast as my 32 tooth and nice and clean like my 60 tooth!

You have the black arm supports installed incorrectly. There is another set of holes you're supposed go past before tightening the screw. It's more solid and adjustable after you do this.

Interesting comment about auto-brake on switch not working - that blade would still keep spinning. My problem is that the blade seems to be locked and motor doesn’t turn at all. Thought the motor might have had a problem, but maybe the switch is broken! Will have to check that out. Otherwise, I agree with all the commentary, I don’t do professional or high-end carpentry, and found the quality more than adequate for my needs. Except for the switch apparently! Also there are screws to hold the side guides in place. They can be useful but at least they can be slid in or under the frame to get them out of the way.

TY for the review even if it is from almost 2.5 years ago, it has good info i am using today to buy this model over a few other cheaper brands i ALMOST bought. I think this model is worth the extra dollars for more metal vrs plastic and stick on measuring labels the others use. I'm going with the sliding version because i am not a fan of the used table saw i have now, so i can use the slide for the few times i need larger cuts. TY

Thanks for the video. Maybe you can help, though. I've been having problems with the sliding action not staying true, and when I've finished sliding through the wood, unless you immediately pull out the left side of your workpiece, the blade makes an annoying indentation. Ugh! I checked and re-checked the blade, the angles, etc., and the indentation was still there. So, chop after chop, I tried pulling the left side of the piece away, or pulling the blade handle to the right, and the indentation seemed to become unnoticeable. To me, this is either a serious flaw with the slide, or just user error. Then again, this is my first miter saw.

I bought this saw at Home Depot during their Spring Black Friday event for $129. I was looking at other saws, but that was too good to pass up and the reviews are good. By the way, you can cut any angle with a miter saw. Check out FinishCarpentryTV. The guy shows you how to cut angles greater than 45 to do trim moulding. Does anyone know if you can cut 4 5/8" crown with this saw with it standing up at an angle. Thanks

Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade, it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / HITACHI C12RSH2 / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). If you want you can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood. To this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw. Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade. Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.

I'm going to pick up my second one tomorrow. The first one was way out of line and the screws were too frozen to adjust without stripping. But these were on a good sale and I had a coupon, so I'll give it a second chance. Good to hear that you've had good luck with the alignment. Quite a few sparks coming out of the motor. Is that normal?

One problem I had was with the plastic guard. As you stated, the blade continues to rotate after you finish the cut. I picked up the unwanted wood to the right of the cut and accidentally pushed it against the plastic guard which in turn self distrusted when it came into contact with the rotating blade.

The one I bought is terrible. The bevel angle is not straight (vertical) and I had to adjust to slightly off 0 degrees to match. Also, when you lock the sliding option, you can't get a clean cut as part of wood is still in tack. I'm not sure whether this is normal with sliding saws because this is my first sliding one.
