Ryan Hall - Defensive Guard, Strategy, Fundamentals, Building Walls, Sweeps & Submissons

Ryan Hall’s Defensive Guard concept is unlike anything you have seen before, because it views the guard as a position with multiple defensive walls, with each wall having its own set of tactics for defending and counter fighting.
Using this strategy, Ryan teaches that the sum of multiple guard walls is far greater then the whole and if an opponent is able to defeat one wall, you simply fall back to the next defensive wall and effectively continue the battle.
Additionally Ryan teaches within each individual guard wall position, how to move, unbalance and attack your opponent with sweeps, turnovers and submissions.
Ryan teaches the when and how and why to every defensive wall you can use, regardless of what position you find yourself in and all of the offensive and defensive options needed to finish the fight!
This DVD set spans over 5 hours of video with 53 incredible defensive guard techniques shown in the same methodical teaching style that has made Ryan Halls previous Jiu-Jitsu DVD sets world famous! This is another World Martial Arts exclusive!

he's so good at articulating concepts

I felt that too. I'm flexible and everyone says my guard is impossible to pass (in my gym), but I really can't explain what I'm doing like Ryan can. I FEEL it, but I can't articulate it.
good lord, every single white belt should watch this video before every single class.

@@soundtorial4567 I learned a particularly effective trap from an online video, ive succeeded at it more than ive failed, but the first time i tried it after watching a video it worked. If they are working to pass your guard, you get a firm grip on their sleeve, leg lasso their arm, then let them pass on the opposite side, grab their pants leg and crank down with your leg lasso and and lift up their leg and they go over and you follow them up and wind up in side control on them with their arm trapped. You can lean forward for a submission, the arm is already in a bicep crunch position. Or you can release the arm as you go into full side control on them.
apart from the obvious skill and knowledge hall has.. its so refreshing to see a teacher demonstrating with tgeir student with such respectfulness and lack of ego. ive found in most things that the true elites in their expertise are the least likely to try to put themselves on a pedestal thanks guys

Why? Because mastery requires an objective understanding of the subject that is not obstructed by self-absorption, therefore high capacity is inseparable from the ability to suspend the ego from interfering with one’s discipline.
This is game changing instruction for me as a white belt. This should be curriculum!
14.30 I drop my bow and run out to bite you that’s the funniest jig jitsu analogy I’ve ever heard lol
Professor Hall, teaching Science of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu...this is as good as anyone I have ever seen teach.
