    I see 2 hooks 10:05-10:08 max, then JG fully recovers a 1/4 guard, the takedown was held for like 30 seconds and turned into JG on top. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    ADCC doesn't require both hooks in the hip pockets to score. Jeff's arm is under Ryan's leg but in ADCC that's still back points

  • @seattlesoundisgrunge

    @seattlesoundisgrunge

    The takedown was like a 10sec sequence. He locked fingers, pulled them up and Hall forward, went for a single, then a low single, then because of Hall's counter, turned that into a double leg variation, Hall turned around, went to his hands and jumped his leg over Glovers head and didn't get taken down, then Glover was back on the opposite single, then used it to take back (from standing). Hall then rolls forward for a leg lock, and Glover does a good job sticking to him and denies Hall the roll thru. That's from 7:36 - 7:44. Then Hall does a good job of denying hooks, and getting to inverted guard in the next 2-3secs. Glover didn't "technically" get a takedown because Hall is the one who purposefully went down (the leg lock roll thru was a smart move on Hall's part because it denied Glover points from the likely takedown), and there were no hooks achieved. It was a badass sequence of events though....

  • @seattlesoundisgrunge

    And I wouldn't consider what Glover had at the end to be a 1/4 guard; is it 1/4 guard when you only have 1 hook in and the other guy holds your one hook like that between their legs? 1/4 guard is from a bottom mounted position. Also, Hall's other leg is a hook at the arm. That's a bad spot to be when it comes to defending chokes; especially if it were gi. If anything that's an advanced back attacking position; a step up from double hooks and that much closer to a sub. And ADCC rules reflect that. And if we're being technical, the position was from 10:04 - 10:13 when time was called.

    @@definitelynottigerwhitten5865I was a certified ADCC ref many years ago. I think worlds had no negative OR positive points for the first 10 mins and then only negative points for the following 10 minutes, so I don’t think so. It’s been a hot minute since I did anything ADCC related though.

    For what it’s worth he trained super hard like this in ADCC 2011 and won bronze with 2/3 of his wins coming via sub. He looked great. Also in this match he and Ryan were both hungover. They lost their semi final matches the day before but neither of those guys were healthy enough to contest for bronze. So Jeff and Ryan were pulled back in to take their place

    @@WhtMike2006 some mutual friends trained with jeff at that time and he did way too much partying. Guys at camps like renzo, atos , checkmat all put insane camps together with whos who list of champs pushing each other. Jeff most trained with his buddies like bill cooper. It would be cool to see jeff go train with b team for 6 months and compete again with a serious camp behind him.

    @@timothycarey3883 I used to party with those guys too a little bit and trained a lot with Jeff and Bill. And yeah Jeff definitely partied super hard. It's crazy what he and Bill were able to do. On one hand I think a real serious camp could've helped them a lot. On the other hand I think we also got to see a ton of creativity that we might not have seen if they were in a more restrictive environment.

    @@WhtMike2006 i agree with that i learned my deep half and a lot of sneeky darce chokes from watching them compete. I always felt they ended up doing the same thing that happened to guys like keenan, too much time spent trying to make money off jiujitsu and not enough time trying to be world champs or adcc champs which would give them a better foundation to build schools from and make a sustained living. I think there was a whole other level to the game they never tapped into. Its a shame bill got into meth and crap like that, he seemed to have the fire to go to the next level.

    How the fuck do you get a winner from that? I hope ADCC has made changes to the competition to better determine an actual winner. This felt like a 0-0 match that needed overtime to get a winner or extra innings until someone scored a run.
