RVK Newscast #88: The Geldingadal’s Volcano May Last For Years

The basalt lava from the volcano at Geldingadalir comes from a deeper place than any that has come from volcanoes in that area for over seven millenia. It arrives from around 20 kilometres deep, meaning-as one scientist said-that this is like having an express connection to the centre of the earth.
And this volcano could be here to stay. Scientists are saying now that it could be an effusive eruption, and historically some of those have gone on for decades. This-and more-in our latest newscast.

I'm in America. I had no idea that this week I would be watching a newsperson from Iceland and absolutely loving it. I don't know if newspeople in Iceland are all like this guy but I love his personality and the way he reports his news stories. Even his dog is adorable and entertaining. The camera man does such a great job. He always positions the camera in the most interesting angle possible and how he walks through this terrain and the wind while keeping the camera steady I'll never know but it's great to be watching something moving without getting motion sick. Whether this volcano keeps going or stops, I will still be taking the time to watch this everyday just because it's so interesting to see how people are that live in a county so far away from me. I am so glad that forever reason that KZread recommended a video of this team a few days ago. I am hooked!!! Great work all of you. I hope you get rich from your KZread channel. You and your team deserve it!!!

Gentlemen, thank you so much for bringing this to my house, the excitement and wonder from England is great. Pity I can't visit in person, perhaps I will be able to visit later in the year. Compared to the volcano and lava the people on the hill side all look to be so small! Lucky with the weather too, you missed the snow storms. The changes in just a few days are immense, so lucky to be able to view this eruption day by day. I doubt Katla will be as friendly!

YOUR AWESOME IN coverage, information & camera work of this captivating Iceland's volcano event!👍😀. Wish could be there to explore more of Iceland! As a DIS (Danish program) undergrad student heading for semester studies in Copenhagen, we landed at your capital's international airport, but only had 2 hours so could not venture far!🤣 Living in Hawaii years lateri I visit Kileaua Volcano on Big Island several times close up over 7 years, and once got to see it eventually pour lava into the ocean! Watched this volcanos activity from Mainland wishing could visit there back in 2018. Now your volcano has renewed my great interest and if continues just where the lava goes once the valley is filled! I'll will be watching in wonder from Missouri, USA! Many thanks for your awesome coverage, keep safe and see you on more updates! Cheers!

3:57 I’m in Colorado in the United States. My house is at 10,000ft. (3048m) exactly. It’s always interesting to see what constitutes a mountain around the world. The news here seems to always be bleak and hopeless these days. I never thought I’d say that news of a volcanic eruption would be a breath of fresh air but it has been. These gentlemen are standing within spitting distance of molten earth talking about how wonderful the weather is for volcano viewing and how nonthreatening this event really is.

Id like to suggest that Icelandic National Parks set out the trail with red flags on metal stakes. If the clouds come down and heavy fog, as happened the first day, people may miss that path you have so nicely made, (Thank you!) so the little red flags fairly close together to see thru heavy fog would be helpful. I heard many people in Iceland get lost out in the wilderness when the clouds come down, or heavy blizzards and thick fog obscure the trails, so you should know best how close they need to be. This is so wonderful! We love your reporter and his dog Polly. He is such a great guy! Polly is a wonderful 1st National Pathfinder Doggie! I just worried about dog lungs and volcanic fumes. Are doggies more sensitive than we are? Thank you also for the cutest little volcano your side of the Pecos River! Enjoy! Enjoy!
