RV WASTE VALVE REPLACEMENT - IT'S EASY !!!!!!!!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Don't waste time and money overpaying an RV mechanic to replace your RV waste valve. This is a simple project anyone can do in less than 30 minutes for about $15. Let me show you how.

Gotta love the magic of KZread editing. For those struggling with reinserting the new valve, you can use the "taco" method. For starters, you'll want to apply some silicone grease to the seals for that will hold them on to the new valve(not on the RV) and keep them lubricated. Then you need to acquire one of those dollar store cutting boards or very thin plexi/plastic like a face mask visor. This is the taco shell and the new valve with the 2 seals with silicone grease on them is the taco meat. Now you can slide the whole taco between the 2 pipes while keeping the seals in place and then slip out the taco shell. Should go as smooth as a Mexican dinner the morning after.🌮🌮🌮🌮

Love the way you cut out the hard part, sliding the new valve into place without pushing out the flanges or spreading apart the pipes. Also I’ll bet those bolts hidden on the back side were a bear too. Cutting out the cussing eliminated 90% of the video.

Thanks for your video, the best one on this project. Had to watch several times because the rubber seals kept falling off when trying to assemble with them as one piece. Once I followed your video showing putting the seals on first it went easy.

You didn’t show when to apply the silicon grease! It quickly becomes messy, but it’s paramount to apply it.

Good video but the location of your valves has a lot to do with the ease of install. My valves are inboard with a cable actuator and I also have a small valve for my galley tank on the other end of the trailer. Parts for me for all three would be around $200 and I would have to pull the insulative sheet down which would be a pain in the butt. It's not a job I'm looking forward to but it's still better than taking it to the dealer.

Thanks for sharing. As long as one rinses tanks out really good, this is a super easy and clean anyone can do. Save the $$$ from the dealer. Unfortunately some folks have to remove their rv belly to get to these. Motorhomers got it easy ;) ;)

Thank you your video gave me the confidence to do that exact job saved me $250(100 to show up 150 per hr) bucks for a repairman show up, the only thing I would add is to put a good coat of Vaseline on the seals. I will not hit subscribe to your channel. Have a great day..

All you have to do is take off the old assembly, put the new seals in, do something with the lubricant, and then finish the job. How hard could it be?

@@seymourscagnetti1413 I just watched it and told my wife that the video didn't show the seals falling out and get covered with dirt, the mechanic throwing tools across the yard or a complete new vocabulary, just on this job alone. I agree with the above videos about access and no wiggle in the drain pipes.

As a newbie, nobody mentions how to remove/replace the underbelly panels. Are they all the same? My valves are cable operated. No clues on youtube as to the location. Good video for straight forward repairs, but lacking in preparation and finishing details .

Good question. I have ended up cutting the under panel- would have taken forever to unscrew all the way around. Where do you get replacement under panel?

"It's so easy even a cave man could do it". In my case the valve is buried under insulation and a sheet metal underbelly. Extremely hard to get to and work on laying on a creeper with very little room. I cut a path to it and struggled but managed to remove the four bolts but have yet to get the valve out. The piping is solid with no free play to clear the seals. I'm looking for some tips but haven't found any yet. Hopefully I can get the valve out without damaging the flanges but getting a new valve and seals installed looks daunting.

Same problem, 2 doors to access after you cut thru insulation to find gate valves. Only 1 inch spread to pull apart thus seals move without seeing correct sitting in groove. Small hands to run wrenches from the top, bottom are fairly easy (4 bolts). Used plumbers grease to try holding seals in, clearance to small to allow correct fit. Real bastered of a job since it leaks every time after install. Laying on your back looking at underside with no room to access is a tough one...Still working on it.

Thanks! But I disagree with the words printed over the installation... you should NEVER put the seals on the gate valve first then put it in! You risk damaging the seals.

I did. Thought it might be easier. I greased everything up first though. Seals, piping etc. Not much room for play, so I just installed everything on at once. I got lucky, it worked. This is a dirty, nasty job. This video, is the clean PG version.

@Reel-Lentless All I can say is, read the instructions that come with the valve. But think about it: If the seal is in place, and you push the valve in even slightly off-center, you risk pushing that seal out of place or damaging it. On the other hand, if the seal is on the valve pipe, the seal cannot move and pushes against the seat. I have done a number of these.
