Those were the days when fan snail mail was still around! That is the absolute most disgusting moment in Premier League history for me. The way Arsenal players treated Ruud was disgusting in general, but that moment with Keown screaming in his face... It was horrible to watch. I don't think I can personally ever forgive Keown for that one moment. To have to watch his analysis for years on Match Of The Day after he retired from playing as well - I hated it 😂 I'm assuming by now Martin Keown has mentioned it in an autobiography by now. I'd love to know how he feels about it retrospectively - if he is ashamed of how he behaved, or if it was just what he felt like he needed to do to get to Ruud and have no regrets about it.

@@davewebster689 you truly are a flower petal. By the way, what about Roy Keane’s tackle on Haaland? Were you disgusted by that? There have been many shameful things take place in prem football. I don’t even think the Keown episode is up there with disgusting acts. It is definitely memorable though.

I hate how light the ball has got since that age . I was watching some premier league from about 1994 and the way the play builds up is amazing to see . The players can actually control the ball and do things with it and be creative all across the pitch . These days it just is like pin ball in the premier league . Players hardly ever shoot as the ball goes all over the show the managers know this and tell them to pass it in instead. Miss this era also . I challenge anyone to look how the ball has changed . And also don’t need the bit about heading and dementia it’s not boxing or the most deadly sport in the world statically horse racing. Just think the English premier league needs to slow down and the game in general. No zidane or Ronaldinho type players who can manipulate the ball because it just pings off your foot all the time . We are being robbed of our beautiful game . Sorry about my hangover rant .

He is the only player I have ever seen where he could have the ball at his feet in the opposition's box with 3 or 4 defenders around him and he kept his cool, keeping the ball at his feet. He was super-reliable. One of those players you'd bet your house on scoring if he got any sort of a kick of the ball anywhere near goal. Lethal!

Yeah he's unlucky he doesn't make the list of so many ManUtd players who were managed by Ferguson who achieved at least 2 out of the following 3 feats, win back-to-back PL's, win FAcup, win ChampionsLeague. He got one but it's only the likes of Berbatov, JohnnyEvans & very few others who were managed by Ferguson for at least 4 years who didn't get any of those because v.Nistelrooy didn't put a foot wrong his numbers were great. He won ManUtd the PL in 2002/03 he scored loads of ChampionsLeague goals so he deserved to win that. Berbatov only scored in 3 CL games in his whole ManUtd career in a better squad (none in knockouts) and only scored ONE goal vs a Top5 team in domestic major competitions so deserves to be seen as a flop but v.Nistelrooy should be in the list alongside the so many names who won 2 or 3 of those 3 feats I counted near 50 players off the top of my head but at least he didn't get zero which is a very small group particularly if they were there at least 4 years under Ferguson like Berbaflop was and people over exaggerate saying Berba won ManUtd 2010/11 PL no he didn't lol a quarter of his whole season's tally came in 1 home game ManUtd win without his goals anyway. The likes of v.Nistelrooy 02/03, C.Ronaldo 07/08, v.Persie 12/13 ACTUALLY did because they scored in loads of games vs all types of teams. Of course they also needed a team Scholes scored 20 in all comps 02/03, Rooney, Tevez etc...were very important 07/08, Rooney, Hernandez etc...12/13 were important but 10/11 Hernandez was ManUtd's most important forward and the reason why Berba was left out of the CL final squad 2011 other than costing ManUtd yet another FAcup was because he went 3 whole years without a CL goal from late 2008 to late 2011 and the other 3 strikers Rooney, Hernandez & even MichaelOwen had scored more recently than Berba who's last goal was Matchday 32/38 and even in CL all 3 had scored at least 4 CL goals for ManUtd since Berba's last CL goal (Rooney scored way more than 4 since Berba's last).

Man more than anything I love Ruud's growth as a person through his experience of football. You can really see how he's learnt about life through football and how full circle he is in his reflection from player to manager and understanding the decisions made around him as a player. It must be so valuable to receive as a player under him

Loved this interview. The late 90s was a beautiful time to watch football. I remember watching united on a black and white tele when I was 3 back in 1992. I grew up watching you greats over the years and it's amazing to see you do well Gary off the pitch as good as you were on it. Subbed. Keep up the brilliant interviews.
