Ruta - Stranger
A new track made with my modular-system.

Bassline:
So basically I use two oscs for the wacky bassline. First one is Hysteria and second one Polygogo. Both get the same 1V / Oct signal to play the progression. The oscs are modulated directly by various LFOs. In the case of the Hysteria the two waveform parameters, in the case of the Polygogo the folding and order.
An important part then happens when joining the two waves, because as so often, I don't join them with a simple mixer, but go over the Warps. This is of course also strongly modulated and uses its different algorithms.
The sum then goes through the Tallin (VCA with saturator) where I then control the volume with an ADSR. It continues through a filter, which is also modulated by an LFO and an ADSR.
Effects:
If I haven't forgotten anything, let's move on to the effects. The sum goes first through the Black Hole DSP2. There are also a lot of crazy effects, clicks, etc., because I change a rhythm between two algos. Furthermore, I modulate the crush, the mix and some parameters with different LFOs.
Then the output is splitted into three signals. I leave one signal untouched, the second goes through a VCA and then into the Mimeophone (delay), the third then also through another VCA and into the FX Aid (reverb). Everything in stereo, of course. The two VCAs now serve as "send" and are controlled by modulators. So I can e.g. briefly send a high signal to the delay VCA and pull it down again. The delay continues to work instead of stopping dull (that was the case before I split the audio signal, everything ran in series and I just modulated dry / wet). I use this whole procedure with the reverb as well. Both effects can be controlled separately via a send each and run in parallel. Well, and all three audio signals are then merged again.
Sub bass:
A third Osc (another Hysteria) is used parallel to the whole thing, which runs completely without effects and only plays the basic rhythm and progression. This only serves to accentuate the lows, because all the FX of the other two Oscs mean that the lows are somewhat lost. That would not be fixed with an EQ either, since the fundamental frequency of the modulated Oscs swarm wildly. It really took a standing dominant wave.
Drums:
The drums are just samples, but strictly speaking, I designed them completely. They come from the sample pack "Vengeance Analog Drums", which I made for Vengeance Sound a few years ago. I took all sorts of synths and made drums from scratch. So with a kick a falling sine, with claps a quickly modulated noise with EQ peak, distortion etc. So really everything is homemade and no presets.
At this point I would also like to say that I have a loss in the matter and am totally my own. No matter what music I make, I use absolutely nothing from other sound designers, I do everything 100% myself. Even the drums. I think that also explains why I've been working as a sound designer for years. ;-)
Back to the topic. The drums are in the Bitbox and are controlled by the Varigate 8+. Here I made it a little easier for myself and ultimately only set one kick on beat, hihat offbeat and clap on 2 and 4. The trigger signals still go through a gate. The gates are controlled by a simple divider. So something like that.
__ - __ - __ - __-- Hihats
____ ---- ____---- kick
_________-------- Claps
Sidechain:
Finally, I pressed the volume of the three synth tracks down to beat with an ADSR to create a sidechain so that they don't get in the way of the bass from the kick and bassline.
I think that should describe everything important. If you have any questions, let me out. :-)
Peace!

I thought for a moment you had put one of the yellow patch cables in the wrong socket but after closer inspection I realized you had it correct ; ) Incredible sound and vibe, really impressive especially the percussive element. Please can you make an 8 hour long video to explain how you have everything running there. And visually it looks beautiful.

Wonderful music. Thank you for writing out the description. Love to hear about the entire process. Out of curiosity, are the parts being muted (kick, etc...) being done manually or are the mutes being modulated?

Thanks a lot. In this setup the drums are muted via gate-modulation. So it runs automatically. ;)
