    Is it better to run this using the supplied 240AC adapter (Which for me would mean converting the onboard DC current to AC then back to DC through the supplied adapter)? Would it be better to use a 12v DC supply and forget about converting AC to DC?

    Greetings. Yes, you can supply RUT950 with 12V DC. It has an input voltage range of 9 - 30 VDC. You can check the specification here: teltonika-networks.com/product/rut950/#features.

    One more thing, I need to remote access a PLC device. Is it possible with this device? Does it use a VPN connection or similar to establish connection? Thanks

  • @TeltonikaNetworks

    Remote connection is possible. RUT950 supports numerous VPN's: OpenVPN IPsec GRE PPTP,L2TP Stunnel DMVPN SSTP ZeroTier WireGuard In addition, Teltonika Networks has its own Remote Management Platform (RMS). It has a dedicated VPN called RMS VPN, which is based on OpenVPN. RMS Platform itself would allow you to access your devices without them having a Public IP. More on RMS - teltonika-networks.com/product/rms/ also you can find this information useful - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oWaltbauk6idpZs.html

    Are there different versions of RUT950? I see some have rugged edge with externally accessible sim slots and others with no rugged edge with internal sim slots. I want the first one. Do they have different frequency band support? I live in Kenya and below are the local frequencies: B1(2100MHz), B8(900MHz), B20(800MHz), B28(700MHz) Can RUT950 support all these? Thanks in advance Edit: I see you have an office in Kenya, Avocado Towers but there is no way to reach them. The web based contact form doesn't work.

    Here are the answers: 1. For the antenna connectors you can find them all listed on this page - wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_First_Start#Safety_information 2. RUT950 has a single modem. So only 1 SIM card will be active at any given moment. You can set-up how they switch using SIM switching rules: wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_Mobile#SIM_switching_rules 3. All the settings for RUT950 are configured on WebUI - wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT950_WebUI

    Does this router bond the signals? If I insert 2 SIM cards is it able to use both of them together? So the bandwidth is doubled? Does it aggregate the signals?

  • @TeltonikaNetworks

    Thanks for the question. The RUT950 has one modem so it can use one SIM at a time. If you would use two SIM cards you could use failover functionality.

    Hello I'm in the US. Do I need to go to AT&T do register a new SIM card to work with the RUT950 J? It has to be a data only SIM card correct? Is there anything specific I have to inform my cell company provider? Also can I connect multiple devices to the router like 3 PLCs sharing the same local area network? Thanks for your help.

  • @TeltonikaNetworks

    @TeltonikaNetworks

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello Cris, devices with RUT950 J***** product code are meant to be used in US, with AT&T, Bell or T-Mobile mobile network providers. In terms of the SIM cards that can be used, firstly, it doesn't have to be data only, since Teltonika Networks equipment also has SMS sending capabilities . Standard AT&T SIM card can be used as long as it has mobile data. When checking with your provider, it is important to check whether there is a specific APN (Access Point Name) that you would need to enter in order to use your subscription. Lastly, by default, you can connect 3 Ethernet devices to RUT950, since it has 3x LAN ports. There is also a possibility to configure WAN port as LAN, so at maximum, this would allow you to connect 4 devices. However, you could increase this number by connecting a simple switch to the router.

    if the router is switched off, how long does it keep the synchronized time up to date?

  • @TeltonikaNetworks

    @TeltonikaNetworks

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the question, Christian. The RUT950 router tries to sync time on every boot. It does not have a real-time clock. If the internet connection is available, by default, the time is synchronized with the time server using NTP every 3660 seconds.

    Hello i have an other question. I use a normal SIM card with a certain data volume, right? I can't set up the router. my computer, an Apple Air book, has no LAN connection. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I've been trying to get this thing to work for months. watched many different videos. it just doesn't work for me.

    If the issue is the Internet connection using the SIM card. Make sure you have APN set correctly - if you are using wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Auto_APN - you might need to contact your service provider and set the APN manually. If you still have issue, post your question on the dedicated Crowd Support forum - community.teltonika-networks.com/

    I see this is the only available dual sim router in my country (Kenya). Unfortunately it seems to lack the much needed USSD functionality to take advantage of data offers from the service providers. Removing sim from router to use USSD on phone would be tedious. I would otherwise buy it in a heartbeat.
