Rusty Sawback Machete Restoration
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
New C-Tek handle, stainless bolsters, and refinished blade.
Restored to new condition with beautiful new custom handle.
This is an old machete that a friend asked me to restore for them. The new handle scales are C-Tek resin in aluminum honeycomb and the added bolsters are 316 marine stainless steel.

Wait wait wait, did I really watch you hammer out the kerf for the saw teeth? They're supposed to be set wider than the blade...and then I see at the end you totally did restore the kerf. :-) I was like "noooooooooooooo" and then "Oh, OK!". The handle scales looked good too.
I never knew that there was a tool for bending the teeth of a saw! So much knowledge and experience on display here.

It's called a 'saw set'. Thanks for watching!
That thing wishes it looked that good brand new .
Whacking the stick looks far more fun than sawing it!
Excellent work bud when I saw you flattening the teeth I was like what's going on and then I watch the rest of the video and was like man this guy really knows his stuff great job!

Looking at the machete looks like something out of a Friday the 13th movie 😱 where Jason runs around with it

Great work. Wish there was more info in the video. I'd love to know what was used for handle scales. I like how you turned that fake sawback into an actual functioning saw.

The scales are a material called C-Tek. I put it in the description. Thanks for watching.

Excelente trabajo! Sin ningún detalle por resolver! Te felicito! Una pregunta, como se llama la herramienta que utilizas para mover los dientes de la sierra?

7:25 - is this wabbling of the blade visual illusion?
@AcmeRestorations
Жыл бұрын
Yes! It's because of the sync speed of the camera. Pretty weird.
👍💯
What material did you fabricate the handle from?
@AcmeRestorations
Жыл бұрын
It's call C-tek. It's an aluminum honeycomb filled with epoxy resin.
What is the honeycomb handle material called?
@AcmeRestorations
Жыл бұрын
C-Tek honeycomb knife scales. Google that and you'll find it.
Когда новые видосы то будут?
What if you increase the sand blaster pressure?
@AcmeRestorations
Жыл бұрын
If you increase the pressure, you obliterate the blasting medium into dust and it can't be reused. The dust also then makes it hard to take video that is watchable. It's a delicate balance. Somethings like paint go fast; rust takes a little longer. Thanks for the question.

@@AcmeRestorations so you understand why I asked the question 😀 I was wondering why you blasted it very slow. Thank you for replying, great work 👍

It blasts faster 😅
You wasted a lot of time and effort. You removed the set on the saw so now it’s useless.

Perhaps if you had watched the whole video you would have seen the part where I used a saw set to reset the teeth. That can be seen here 11:57 I don't mind constructive criticism, but this ain't that.

I was just thinking to myself, saw teeth only saw when sharp and alternately off set. Then you put pressed alternate teeth back into an off set profile. Never seen that done. Broadened my horizon. Great work! Congrats.
