UPDATE: -You CAN now clone at sapling stage, so just treat them like hemp and CROSS BREED them the exact same way. -Oops... charcoal is cheaper in the mixing table (take the reverse of what I said)

Within 2 days of wipe we had most of the crossbreeding done (blue red yelow). It takes sometime, like more people are saying we rolled seeds untill we got a decent clone (1 or 2 bad genes) and we contiued from there. The cloth farm will be your main focus and the berries on the side. I think it's with reason the crossbreeding is done like this because it is already OP as hell. Good vid good thoughts!

Great video again, will be using this next wipe, Btw one of the last commits by Garry said that they added a 'hold Right mouse button to clone with E" function so that will make our lives alot easier :)

That is precisely what I did this wipe. Opened a Tea Shop with ore, scrap and max health teas only. And you're absolutely right, there is no chance for cross breading atm. Great video as always.

Alls I did was eat a ton of berrys and "roll" one seed in a planter. If I didnt like the genes I rolled again and boom found the perfect genes. then pretty much used the cloning method and had really fast plants

Maybe you did something wrong? I remember when I first crossbred pumpkins and corn to get the perfect genes and it took me most of the irl day but I did it. Berries shouldn't be that much different.

really good video, i went really deep into tea farming on a monthly wipe, the best aproach i found is to gather 50 seeds of red berries, 50 yellow and 50 blue ones, i find that crossbreeding is really time consuming but finding a 6 green genes its not that bad and it really helps out a lot

@@tamura77Rust yea, i came back to comment this, the 100 min clone, never pays off, you are right. the only obvservation i could say is that the max health tea its fucking op, and the ore tea too, so harvesting red yellow and blue berries is fucking good

Also if you're looking to sell these, focus mainly on blue and yellow berries. Most people prefer the Ore teas if you're near outpost as can just trade for wood (at 20% increase, 1 stone node = 4500 wood). Healing teas just aren't syringes, and max health teas aren't used often. Scrap teas interest new players but most people know they are mostly useless, so white berries are meh. And you're right, green berries should just be tossed.

How did you get 5000? Stone node is 1000 stone so with 30% boost on basic tea which boost to 1300 stone trade that and only get 4000 wood

Hey man do you have an farm layouts that utilize the water tank car setup or maybe even a powered water purifier , sometimes i find it impossible to live by fresh water on a wipe?

Same base design, double your pumps and have one purifier per floors. You can place this on any foundation in your base. I do mention it in the video. As for the water truck, just setup a car base attached to it and output water to water barrels where the pumps would be.

Does the scrap tea only work on barrels? I dive sometimes but don't want to waste my time if it won't work coming from crates.

Just a little tip making healing teas are basicly pointless because you can find them in small foodcrates which spawn at oxums,supermarket and excavator. Farm those untill you have a couple of teas, they drop pire teas aswell

I made a clone of blue berries with GGYYYY - but it only produces 5 berries per crop (with planter running around 75% overall). Not really worth the effort to make up clones.

@@tamura77Rust how about the fact that it forces everyone to pick up farming so they stay on par with people who do? it's not going to be something optional if you don't wanna stay behind other groups. it's gonna become even bigger of a problem when crossbreeding is gonna be efficient on berries, it's gonna make farming something that would benefit people that prefer getting scrap this way over pvp chad and steal everyone's shit to something forced onto everyone. and also, rust had no problem staying somewhat realistic the past 7 years, and it didn't need to go into the magic rpg stuff to stay relevant.

​@@Val-ul5fl They're constantly trying to balance farming. They never want it to be OP, but obviously finding the sweet spot is hard. Right now you don't need to pick up farming to "keep up", its takes a long time to get all the farms setup and then actually get a minor buff, had you spend all that time just farming you would be fine. Idk if you're worried about the meta falling to farming, but if you want to complain about this game's meta moving away from PvP you might want to switch to FPS games instead. The Rust devs want this approach for their game, and tbh the feedback has been very positive. Regardless monument farming will always be a thing, and the more people farming cloth.. the less competition you have at monuments.

Cross breeding is entirely viable, are you joking? It took me a day to get YYYYYY of all the berries. It's not that hard, and doesn't mess with hemp production significantly while the breeding is in progress.

How many numbers do you have? On average it takes most players around 50ish hemp seeds.. (to get the perfect clone) which would mean you would need around 250 berries to get all 5 to cross breed to what you want. I would love to see pictures of your setup if you have accomplished this... but I can't see how its viable without quicker cloning.

@@tamura77Rust I planted the corners of my hemp with seeds produced as you describe in this video until I got lucky on a 6 green. I usually got it in one crop Then there is usually pairs in the same crop for the 50 50 tactic. Hemp stays in production while doing it, and fruits in similar time for convenience. Crossing with the 50 50 only have to wait till crossbreed and then hatchet out and replant the middle for another go around. Hatchet out unused ones for more hemp if don't need the berries themselves yet.
