just got a 3y3g for the first time thanks to you. Thank you so much. Your tutorials actually made farming smeem interesting and incredibly straightforward. First time trying it and I got super unlucky. Went through 50 seeds and my only path was having a g at the end...I only got 2 clones with g's at the end and the both had an x in the 4 slot. I also had no plants with less than 2 reds. It was hell and I had to get more seeds but I got there. It also took me 4 50/50s to get the 3y3g. Next time I do this I deserve a 3y3g plant right off the bat lol.

It was a good vid and don't think it was particularly long considering the information you gave out during it. I don't know if I've watched all your crossbreed/farming vids, but the ones I have watched didn't have this bit of information so was good to know. My main problem now is finding the seeds in the first place... :'(

there should be a ton by a river and launch site if it’s not in the snow. I actually think launch site at the perimeter of the launch pad area has the highest hemp concentration.

I find it a lot easier to do it the opposite way you are doing it. I plant the 4 seeds I want to breed in each of the corners, then after they reach mature stage I plant the center one. Then I can keep doing the center one over and over for hours. I never have to worry about the original 4 cross breeding, and don't have to keep harvesting and replanting the 4. But other than that, thanks for your videos, they've helped a lot.

yup I like that way too, its just that this way allows you to dupe your clones and have like 10+ attempts in 20mins.

I love that you put a vedio up saying 3g3y is the best per hour by a little bit but you still use 4g2y. After using 3g3y for a wipe I would agree with you 4g2y is my favorite. they grow so much faster I can just continuously clone a floor rather than having to wait and do cycles. Save up a few stacks than go do something else. Edit: Just finished the end of the video still side with team 4g2y xD great vedio tho, wish it was out when I first started learning. It took me about 3 hours of cross breeding before I learned that the outside plants would crossbreed too Also one of my tricks is I plant a bunch of seeds outside. Just plant one and make sure it's happy enough where it is before you plant the rest of your seeds (as long as it's not 0 during the day they will grow. However slowly). This way you can get all the saplings you need instead of waiting for a few more tarps or your sprinklers to fill the planter boxes because your to lazy. Also this only works with hemp because you can clone on the sapling stage. Usually about one-two rust days and you will be able to clone them. I had plants accedently crossbreed doing this so be wary of keeping an eye on the good ones or plant them far enough apart

with 3g3y you have to wait until they're ripe to get full yield, with 4g2y you get full yield in late fruiting stage, which is also reached quicker, so yeah 4g2y seems better

plant and clone, repeat until you have 3x the clones as you do planter spots. Then plant all, harvest, plant all harvest, plant all clone and repeat.

Y increases yield and G increases growth speed, so both combined give more cloth per hour

I just wanted to add that there are calculators out there to save time. I just learned how to crossbreed for perfect genes with your video. I think it’s important to know and understand how to do it. However, once you got it down and you can do it, it’s best to just use a calculator and save yourself some time.

Have you run this experiment with plants other than hemp? I ask because I just had a crossbreed that kept some of its original genes, I either misunderstood or maybe its just not quite explained. I planted 2 6green clones of different mixes of g's and y's as donors to a seed to try and get a 50/50 mix and instead got a plant that only kept some of the genes from the donor plants, could this be because I only had 2 donors instead of 3 or 4? or because hemp breeds differently than other plants?

you'll need more than 2 "donors" because you need a "double up" in order to swap. The only genes that will swap from the 6 green will be a the double ups eg if both have a G in the 3rd slot, they will donate it to the middle. Watch what I do, your method won't work, find more plants (3-8) that line up well to have double ups in EVERY slot out of 6

how much time in irl does it consume so a plant get mature and ready to take out? i mean like there are alot of video out there telling farm and get 10000 scrap a day but no1 tell how much time did they consume so reach dat level crossbreeding it self get 2 much to reach the prefect gene, my point is i want to make sure is this a good way to farm for server dat has weekly wipe or nah i mean can i setup my farm in 8 hour irl reach the perfect gene and start farming so i get to those scrap,bp before wipe?

Yeah you could spend a week farming to get enough scrap for all BPS. If you go on my discord and under #FAQ it has all of the cloth per hour of each gene, multiple that by planters spots and divide by 8 to get scrap per hour. It usually takes around 2hrs for me to get the perfect plant, and then each harvest depends on the plant's genes (around 90mins).

Is it possible to clone potato/pumpkin? I play on vanilla/softcore risky business but farming just feels so much fun to me, your videos are very helpful thank you for educating the Rust community! 💯

I would just say, it is better practice to put your clones in the corners in case u forget to plant / harvest the one in the middle. Less chance of you clones getting ruined by each other

So I have my genes set up with no doubles, 3 w's and 1 x. For some reason the cross breed ended up with a W when I had no doubles. Do I have to many W's? And not enough X's?

I have tried your 50/50 trick and I keep getting the same plant over and over or it actually ends up completely different. I am using two of the same genes and two completely different ones with a G where I want to replace an H. I will actually get a plant where the red genes from the odd plants take over?

you can harvest them at "fruiting" if you know they're not gonna get more, especially on berries, if you have only 2y it will never go to 5 berries but you can already harvest 4 in late fruiting stage

red weighs 1.0, green weighs 0.6 so yes 2w is 2.0 > 2 y (1.2)

Double means two of the same, so W W or X X . X and W are DIFFERENT types of reds, so not a double

you can't 50/50 unless its an all green. You can mix it with 2-7 other plants however to get an all green

Thanks for the informative videos, can you make a guide for farming hemp in other biomes ? which genes are necessary to farm in the snow biome and desert biome ? I've seen people farming hemp in the snow but im unsure what genes I've to breeed :)(

I mean this is essentially a speed run (minus the talking). It should only take you 2-3 hours at most if you have that many planter boxes. Spend more time practicing on private servers and looking for combinations to get the 6 green, then to 50.50 it to perfection.

TWO QUESTIONS do expert farmers only exactly 20 seeds it honestly took me around 100 or 200 seeds for triple g's triple y's. Do you think it is feasible to start off every fresh or late wipe focusing on a farm base? I just see it very efficient vs someone who isn't doing it over time

@@masterkiller990 20 seeds is a slight stretch. Most good cross breeders can do it in 50 almost every time but again there is a little luck. I would be very surprised if there was no possible combination between 100 seeds. Of course take your time and practice, practice, pratice. When I first started it would take be 100+ seeds. farming is viable if you're efficient and dedicated :)

After marstering the art of farming on my dedi... I tried on a real wipe... sadly it takes too much time to gather the bp's before even starting this all adventure. You can't do everything. Focusing only on farming is quite risky

Yeah if you don't have enough group members, I would recommend dedicating a wipe to collecting BP's, then trying it if there is a map wipe.

I’m trying his for the first time as a solo. I’m on a monthly and I can’t play more than 3 hours a day. It’s taken me about 4 days to get the farm almost done. I have gotten the perfect clone and now just need to fill the other 2/3 of my farm with planters. I have actually learned a few things from this that might help you out. Next time I try this I will do one of two things: 1) Build a 1x1, farm 20k wood or better yet exchange stone for wood. Expand the 1x1into a 3x5 fish farm. I’ve calculated the cost, it only takes 20k wood including the fish traps (not to repair them though). A 6x10 is too big for a solo. Basically, farm the fish until you have scrap for all hemp farm bps and parts for the hemp farm. I have never done this, but if you could get almost 2k scrap an hour in a 6x10 before the nerfs, I see no reason of why you can’t make 500 scrap an hour. So basically it will take about 3 hours to have all the bps you need for the hemp farm. Next, farm 17k stone for a 3x6 hemp farm. Once you have your farm running then focus on building a main base and actually playing the game. I think as a solo it’s feasible to do this in less than 6 hours if you really focus. Or 2) build a 2x2 starter where part a 2x1 portion is a boat garage. Get a boat or kayak asap and farm the ocean. Two ocean runs should be enough for all farming bps. The nice thing about this method when compared to the fish farm method is that you get components which you need anyway, you can also get lucky and find some parts for the fish farm instead of having to buy them from bandit/outpost or using the tech tree, you also find a lot of tarp which you can use for the planters, you also get a lot of low grade/crude which you badly need early game for furnaces, and you will definitely find a metal pickaxe or axe or maybe even jackhammer/chain saw which will make farming for mats for your farm and main base a breeze, plus you can take the boat to the snow biome (snow islands are the best for farming nodes) away from any moments/players and quickly farm all the stone/metal for the farm and main base. Lastly, you have a boat base you can actually use unlike the temporary fish farm. The biggest draw back is that it’s riskier than fish farming. Obviously you can always just run monuments, but how it goes is a flip of the coin. You can get super lucky and get all the scrap and comps to research in less time than either of the top 2 methods, but I highly doubt it. I think the boat base start is the way to go and definitely what I plan on doing next wipe.

its depend on your skill , its better to teach how make 6 Green gene from another genes b.c when your going to Berries you cant do anything! coz lack of seeds in official servers. so imo looking for all Green genes isnt a good idea its better to learn how TO make All Green even its a gene with (X) #this can work on hemps to looking for all green but not for berries and other things

I was growing till mature and harvesting for new seeds. New seeds = new genetics. I haven't tried with hemp, only berries

Counting these genes in my mind is not really easy for me, so I'm just peeking up all the clones with 4 green genes without double H, for example GGGHww is good, peaking this up, gyhhwx is already useless cause we dont need too many h's. After peeking every good clones up, I'm putting them into excel, so you can see everything easily and you dont need to keep all the genes in mind.

this is not working at all. I had (Y-H-Y-Y-H-H) and planted that first then planted (G-G-Y-W-Y-W) and (W-G-Y-H-H-H), one of each, next to the first 15 min later and i ended up getting (W-G-Y-W-H-W). Like, wtf? why?

because the middle clone doesn't get counted when determining the final clone. Hence why I show you to use 4 outer clones, you have used two.

@@bceng89 that's because they are red, to beat a red you need a pair. Notice how in your example you have a pair in slots 2,3 and 5 (don't count the first clone). Hence you get those genes, else you get a red. I don't know why you're breeding with only 3, when I never do in all my videos and examples. Do what I do, breed with 5.

Edit: technically you didn't have a double or a pair in slot 5, hence it just kept it's H
