The messed up thing about this, is that we (the US) wait forever to send military kits, while the Ukrainians are getting bombed, killed or exhausted, and then expect them to turn the war around in two weeks. If we had sent the weapon kits we are sending now (which they have been requesting from day 1), this war would have been over 18 months ago.

And I say the USA shouldn’t be sending money over seas to foreign powers. Especially when its citizens are being bled white for it and our nation is being invaded by thousands of illegal migrants a day. To hell with the ‘American Empire’! To hell with the Great Replacement! To hell with the World Economic forum! If people want to support Ukraine, Israel or any other nation so much, they can do it of their own choice and in their own time! Not with the tax dollars of people who didn’t ask or want it!

Your reports and interviews are an indispensable source of accurate information. Yes, there are other sources online that I listen to and watch and also appreciate, including great historians such as Stephen Kotkin and Timothy Schneider. I am originally from Argentina, but now live in NZ. There is a substantial Ukrainian community in Argentina that's watching events in Ukraine with deep anxiety. I specifically appreciate the precise and honest reporting of the actual military realities being faced by so many ordinary Ukrainians. I still can't understand the dithering of NATO leaders - it is vital to close the airspace over Ukraine to all Russian forces at once. The longer NATO dithers, the costlier will be the task of ejecting Russian forces from every bit of Ukraine: the only possible objective for the future of a civilized planet. Slava Ukraini!

From my 18 months RAAF experience, I became aware of how a continent can be surveyed and defended with an up to date Airforce. Air superiority for Ukraine would completely change this war. Europe should, and could, provide the answer. Blitzkrieg is an attacking concept but enough Air strength eventually renders even this ineffective. I'm obviously inspi6by Dom here.

Agree, likely correct, same in World War 2. The west's stockpiles of weapons were too low at the outbreak of war but after a couple of years production capacity became overwhelming. Unlike Ruzz, a big problem for western Europe is munitions stockpiles and production facilities are close to the front and are hence potentially targets. That's not the case for US, Canada and Australia whose remoteness and capacity to disperse are substantial. It then just becomes a matter of getting material from where it is stored and produced to the scene of action. The west's security strategies need to take greater advantage of such possibilities. There are for example German owned plants making munitions in Australia. These are already providing some munitions to Ukraine, so the concept isn't completely novel. It just needs scaling up to meet the needs of an alliance rather than just the host country.

UK's recent contribution of £500 million is US$ 627,871,462 at current FX rate. America's contribution of approx $61 billion is roughly 100 times greater than Britain's. US GDP in 2023 was $27.36 trillion and UK's GDP in 2023 was £2.274 trillion. America's economy is a bit more than 12 times greater yet it contributed 100 times more (in this this recent tranche). What gives? The claims that Europe can't step up because it lacks the productivity capacity though true are also self serving. Are the Europeans pointing fingers of blame at the US because they themselves don't want to buy weapons from the US, Korea, Japan and others to aid Ukraine? 'Get Uncle Sucker to pay for it.' As it, most of Europe's Nato members' paltry defence spending over the past three decades should allow it to more that meet US contribution. I'm sure they deposited this money in a rainy day fund. It ought to exceed it. Greatly. If Europe is looking for money, Norway's sovereign wealth fund is $1.6 trillion. Just sitting there gathering dust in Scrooge McDuck's cave of treasure. Half of that would sort the problem quickly.

The only reason the US cautioned ukraine over their refinery strikes is because biden was concerned about increasing gas prices in the states which could anger his voters. A selfish reason but the election is coming and Biden has always ensured cheap gas here. From my understanding, it wasnt about concern for strikes within russia per say, but volatility within the oil markets.

The kilometre of kay or klick is a distance, not a thing to be collected. The plural of kay is kay. A hundred kay, but klicks, a could of clicks down the road. And "incremental gains" is redundant, or repetitious. "Every" identifies a lot of individual items Every one of them *is* welcome. "Will" ends in an L which is pronounced. It's will, not weewu. Pivotal, not pivatoo. The Irish and the Welsh speak English, and the Scots make a good try at it, but the English seem to have lost it completely.

Regarding tanks. I think the Ukrainians made the same mistakes as the Russians. And even worse, being done after they did it to the Russian and knew what the weakness of a tank is. So they moved slowly, almost staticly to clear the mines and got demolished. Just what they did themselves before at Vuledar to the Russians. Was this because pressured by the western "experts"? Who have not given them the same means to make the tanks do what they are designed to? (Not being pillboxes!) And now we see the lack of massive minefields to stop the Russians and make them sitting ducks? I think this was all forseeable. And it is a big failure by the west and by the Ukrainians. Who has made a miscalculation remains to be investigated. What is sure for me is that the west has not supplied the necessary kit, from planes, air surveillance to ammunition, for Ukraine to fight to the best of its availability. And Ukraine was too sure that they would somehow advance and the defensive lines and minefields were not necessary. What calculations (availability of mines?) were behind it is unknown. Perhaps the reason Zaluzhny had to go? But what has the new commander done? What part has the political leadership in this? It is so sad that even to a layman like me the mistakes are so obvious. And foreseeable.
