The whole basis of your argument is flawed, as it assumes this is the only way to be efficient - there are thousands and thousands of farms that are efficient and treat their animals in a humane way. This is just convenient and lazy.

We raised a Holstien bottle calf, just like the ones above, it was grass fed and finished on grain. The meat was excellent.

@@cherylmillard2067 glad the meat was great for you. In my area the Holsteins calves from the dairy’s from the dairy’s usually are just raised in feed lot type environments not raised on grass pastures.

@@halstonhoversten3496 I suspect the calves in the houses are all heifers to replace the cows who age out. In my area usually the males are banded and then sold as bottle baby steers/veal or other by products. How we got ours was out friend had a wolf sanctuary and he collected bull calves from a dairy, that time he didn't dispatch two and gave them to us. One sadly died from shipping fever as well as from being so young. The remaining one finished out nicely.

I had a dairy in Oregon 40 years ago. We raised calves the same way. Nothing new and not invented by Russia. Russia did invent cow bombing and sunk a Japanese fishing boat. A Russian aircraft was transporting many Holstein dairy cows, bought in the US or Canada. One cow went berserk, the crew couldn't control it. To save the plane from damage opened a side door and the cow rushed out. The cow falling from 30,000 feet landed on a Japanese fishing boat. The boat operator was jailed because authorities thought he was on drugs when he said "A cow falling from the sky landed on his boat and caused it to sink". Later the plane landed and reported the loss of the cow.
